Dr. Fung, my Dr. told me earlier this year I needed to lose weight. She actually said I should start by losing 12 lbs. in 12 weeks. I had no idea how I was going accomplish this. I was blessed enough come across one of your fasting videos the same day as my Dr. appt. By following 16/8 fast, low carb diet I lose 26 lbs. in 12 weeks instead of the suggested 12! I’m never going back to the way I was eating before! Thank you.

It's amazing, isn't it? And not hard to do when professionals like Dr. Fung give us such clear information. I alternate between one and two meals a day - my hunger is the driver. Often I find that time has flown and I've just completed a 24-hr fast without meaning to. I'm just not hungry like I used to be, and I'm free of cravings. I'm an older woman and I'm finally free of belly fat. Dr. Fung changed my life for the better.

I grew up in a rural area where didn’t have much food, so we didn’t eat much. People lived to 90s without any doctor. Our diet was similar to intermittent fasting. Wake up at 6am to do farm work, have Breakfast at 10am, go to do more farm work, lunch at 2pm, more farm work, and dinner at 6pm, sleep at 8pm. The food was vegetables and rice, the portion was small because we had to share the limited food with the entire family.

@@AzaleaBee How do you enjoy a fast I am a sugar a Holick and have trouble staying away from the sugar during my Fasting time
@AzaleaBee
@AzaleaBee 2 жыл бұрын
@@conniebabcock2839 I used to be out of control with sugar especially baked things. When I started fasting, I cut them out completely. I stayed away from them including by not even looking at images. But now, I don't crave them at all. Last week my son bought two delicious pastries. I enjoyed two bites and did not want more. I enjoy my fasts by having so much free time not wondering what I am going to cook or what I want to eat. If I cook for family, they have to decide what I (or we) am cooking. I enjoy the emptier stomach feeling and lower blood sugar for long periods of time that ease chronic pain without medications and their side effects. Fasting also gives me heightened senses, particularly smells which sometimes are unpleasant but usually enjoyable.. flowers, spices, herbs.

Fasting is amazing! It’s almost too easy. After years of trying to restrict calories and watch my macros, I finally decided to simplify my life by simply fasting 14-16 hours ( allowing myself coffee with cream in the morning), and walking / exercising around 30-45 minutes most days in my fasted state. Lost weight effortlessly while never feeling deprived. I’m 51 and going through menopause, and still fasting has been super effective for me. Reduced cravings, slimmed down - especially my belly fat. I have great energy, no bloating and great digestion. I can’t believe I never learned about fasting when I was younger. Thanks Dr Fung! ❤️

My goal is to get to 72 hours once per week. Next week I’m going to do 48 hours, which I will do for a month before doing 72 hours. I honestly don’t find it difficult at all. And I feel much better and I see my body changing which is very motivating.

@@NikoHL I think OMAD works well for a lot of people long term. It fits their lifestyles especially with family. A few weeks of OMAD worked ok for me but as you said, it wasn't sustainable (for me). I could not eat enough of what I needed/wanted and I disliked that it made me think about what I was going to eat every day. A few days a week of not eating at all fits best with me and probably will be what I do long term.

My aim remains to reverse the fatty liver and lose substantial weight. It's not been an easy journey. But I am happy I started the fast regime. I have never been as healthy as I am right now. All the back and shoulder pains associated with the fatty liver has disappeared. As a person I always find it difficult to motivate myself to exercise. For me Alternat Day Fasting is the most effective. I can do it easily if I keep a ketogenic diet with clean keto and unprocessed foods. I try to do 42-6. I don't do OMAD on the day I eat, but eat a normal meal at 10 am and a small meal at 4 pm. Amazingly on the day I fast I am not hungry. I do take supplements and drink some coffee or some tea (although the desire to eat those diminishes the more I continue with the process.

Thank you for this video. I've been struggling with the hunger in the evenings. Been doing omad for 2 months now and have been stuck for the last week. Probably due to overeating during my one meal. Going to try the chia seeds and basil seeds and see what happens. Thank goodness for Dr. Fung!!!

You’re a genius Dr. Fung! 💥 Thanks for the info. I tried fasting (water) and it did help! It can be done! In one of your videos you said to listen to your body and stop when your body says to. I lasted 35 hours and didn’t push myself. This information today has me thinking. If I add bone broth and some chia seeds and try again it might help go the distance. Btw I’ve lost 70 pounds (in 7 months) with IF and honestly thanks to you! ❤️ Your videos are so informative full of wisdom & knowledge…can’t thank you enough!!! 👏🏼 Wish me luck on to the last #30 I’d like to lose! 🤞🏼💯

Good for you. 35 hours is great. Not sure what you mean by "go the distance" since you obviously are doing well. But to go longer, I'd make sure to time my fast to maximize sleep times. For me that is finish dinner no later than 7 pm, water fast all the next day, and occupy myself in the evening to keep my mind off food. Then sleep, wake up, enjoy a quiet hour, and break my fast around 7 or 8 am. It comes natural to me now but I used to spend HOURS in the bathtub at night before bed just to stay out of the kitchen/ away from others who were eating.

I'm amazed at how keto in combination with IF changed my taste buds. Now I get queasy thinking about drinking diet or sugary drinks. I stick to my beloved am cup of artisan coffee and then water throughout the day. I prep a huge travel cup with either LMNT electrolyte powder in a citrus flavor or the cucumber or lemon water from a special jug in the frig. It has a center core that holds whatever you've used to flavor the water. Unsweetened ice tea is also available. The travel mug gets fresh ice and refills all day long. One side benefit of more water is my skin - it glows! Guess I was always dehydrated before.

I’m new to IF, 2 weeks now. I’m working towards OMAD but right now my window is 17/5. If I get hungry before my 12 or 1 pm meal, I go out and walk. It distracts me and I forget about being hungry. I’m doing low carb along with IF. I’m 69 years old and it’s definitely harder to lose weight now!

On a 3 day dry fast and lost 11lbs . I’ll be integrating this into my diet while eating healthier on my non fast day. I find that fry fast suppresses my hunger than water /tea fast. Once I break a water / tea of coffee fast, I tend to crave more food than I would after a dry fast.
