I watched this many months ago, u really inspired me and I come again now to ask u is it a hard journey? I've been trying to love myself for some long time and to enjoy my own company alone but I find it still hard for me and I'm still struggling, is it ok to take so long to achieve it? I just wanna now if there is still hope for me to reach. I can tell my level is still at the starting point.

Hi dear, there is no rush! Learning to love yourself and find joy being alone takes a different amount of time for everyone. I am blessed because I came from a loving family and have no past traumas to deal with, and so it was easier for me to arrive at this state. However, it is different for everyone, because everyone has a different background / past conditioning that can make being alone feel isolating. Also, some people are more extroverted than others and need more time with other people to feel connected! It is all a process :) be patient with yourself, and it is okay for you to take as long as you need. All the best! Let me know if there are any other videos you'd like to see that would help you :)

@@victorialim Thank u alot for your reply, I appreciate it :) ♡. You are actually true, it can take much longer time for me but I just need to be patient with myself. I love watching this type of content of how to love yourself and be true with it, your experience with it. and I like watching your routines and talks on life, thank u for inspiring me!

It takes building up your confidence..that you don't care to be seen alone by yourself. When i was younger..i was shy to be seen alone eating at a restaurant. So i would buy the food and eat in my car. But as time went..i stopped caring about what people would think. And it's so liberating. I no longer was at the mercy of other people's (friend's) time just so i have company going out. I would go anywhere anytime i like and leave when i want to. However, isolation can be depressing..so i would comfortably and confidantly go to a bar with loud noise..order my drinks ...just to be around people. But i don't make eye contact with anyone other than to the waiter/waitress or the bartender..bcos i do not want to be mistaken as looking to get laid. Nobody disturbs me that way. I do that once a week..and it feels good.

@@fuckyoutube4changingmyusername thank u so much. I needed such a reply in such time. What I'm going through now, I will be graduating next year from college, and instead of being happy for that like others, I'm sad :(. I have a friend who I love so much, she is the only person that I have deep connection with, and by graduating that means we will not be together anymore. She is a very good friend and has stick with me through thick and thin, but she doesn't mind much as I do. She is looking forward for graduation as normal students. I feel like I would be nothing without her, I really want to heal myself from this. I feel like I can't even enjoy my last year at college because all I think is when we graduate and go apart. I want to ask u question if u can answer pls. Can I have that deep connection with myself instead other people and still feel like it's enough and joyful? I feel like I'm empty inside, thinking of it I always needed someone to understand me and has deep connection with. So maybe that person could be me? :( so I feel fulfilled life and not get hurt by beloved ones having distance? :(
@MS-ct1nk2 жыл бұрын
Thinking of it my family has always been loving for me but a lot of time they don't accept my true self. So maybe that's why I grew in need for someone to love me for who I am and understands me without judgement. I know everyone would want such person but for me I think it's another level. I feel like I would be nothing without person like that. And my freind has been that person for years. If you have solutions please tell me. And do u think that person must be me from the beginning? :(

Do you think I should start journaling since I can’t control a lot of my thoughts 💭. It would really help if it’s calming.
@rebeccaanderson65603 жыл бұрын
@@kimdem7255 I think it would help a lot. I have had issues with not being able to control my own thoughts, but if you really look at those thoughts, a lot of your thoughts are just repeats and different versions of thoughts you already had. Being able to get those thoughts down on paper in a way helps you understand those thoughts rather than just repeating them in your head over and over again. In journaling, you can not only identify those thoughts, but even try asking yourself why you're thinking them so you can understand them more. And if you're able to understand your thoughts, you'll be able to have a little more control on everything that goes on inside your head.

When I was in highschool I had a lot of people I talked to on a daily and began to depend off of human interaction. Once Covid hit and we all graduated most of my friends left to out of state colleges. Typically that would be okay, but because of Covid, I haven’t really been able to make any new friends since my classes are on zoom. I am trying to learn how to be okay with being alone. I just get bored and crave being with people. Your video helped me and I am going to try your tips 💞

Hey Gabby, I know being alone at first can feel kind of lonely - it’s definitely something that takes getting used to, and everyone is different (eg more extroverted people need to be around people more to feel connected). But over time I really hope you find little routines that you enjoy and good methods for coping when you’re feeling lonely (like calling a family member)! Try to make your own home your own space and find joy in that process :) All the best and give it time :)

Part of learning to be by yourself is learning to accept yourself for who you are. It can be hard to sit in our thoughts if they’re mostly negative or self-deprecating. It will take time but it’s clear that you have the will to change, so I’m sure you can do it x

Thanks for sharing!!! So helpful! I think you can be creative and combine Yale/ self care development.. ie survival tips, guides, short cuts, things you had to learn on your own to succeed there.. I’m just saying I wouldn’t think too much into it, I always say someone will find a way to be mad or disagree but do what’s in your heart the people who mind don’t matter and the people who matter don’t mind because you literally have a great personality, it’s your character and presence that creates a strong following.. I’m subscribed to a lot of different channels not because I’m into gaming, cooking etc but the people share themselves and I learn all types of things from them.. Keep up the good work! ✨✨✨

Thank you for your feedback Carol! Hmm yes that’s a way to think about it huh, that personality matters more? Definitely food for thought, I’ll just go w what I’m interested in making then☺️ I’ll always try and make my content relevant for anyone so I hope you continue to watch x

Awesome video again Vic! Your self-care content is so soothing, informative, and inspirational - it's always such a joy to watch. Honestly though, in terms of your content, the best in your videos shines forth from the passion you have for what you are talking about, rather than in any specific topic. So I think you should continue talking about things you feel passionate about - I know that I, at least, will continue to enjoy this no matter how widely your topics vary ^_^

@@victorialim Also, about your channel content moving away from Yale-related topics, I think it's a good idea to focus on what you want to be making. Even if there are viewers lost from it, you may find more in the self-care/self-help community. Expanding is a generally good thing and you can reach more people.
@victorialim4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your take on things! Will definitely only continue to create content that I want to. i guess my concern is that doing both Yale + self-care content would be trying to cater to two completely different audiences (leaving people confused :/) well, let’s just see how things go!

WARNING - This is a great video with some amazing tips BUT even with all the tips in the world, nothing is going to negate our humanity. Humans are tribal people and we need each other. Introverts need less connection than extroverts but we all need some connection. Beginning in childhood, I’ve always done things alone because there was never anyone to do them with and I love that about myself AND because I grew up so independent, I didn’t know how to ask for help or invite people to do things with me. Sometimes being alone IS the same thing as loneliness when you aren’t meeting your connection quota, which is going to vary for each person. So while no one should depend on other people 24-7-365, it’s ok if you’re extroverted and like activities better when you do them with others, as long as you’re not negatively affecting you’re life waiting for others to join you.
