I done like you said you did, I bought it right after I saw Big D do the dyno vid of the smaller Trauma (thinking he tested the Concussion 2k amp in that video, correct me if I'm wrong). I've been thinking about buying one of the 4 channel Trauma amps. I think Steve at Amp Meds done a GREAT job on the Trauma amps BUT I wish he'd atleast added a clip light on the bass remote! 😔

I would consider this running @ 4ohm just for that efficiency . Plus have the ability to push more power later on after upgrading the electrical to move that kinda power .
@minus3dbintheteens602 жыл бұрын
I actually bought an 8k just to run my dual 4ohm single 12" (roughly 3ohm after rise) for the efficiency. It was cool to play around with even being able to run the sub coils in series with that much power available. Although I was using 3kw rms class AB before, I thought I'd try out not only having more power on tap, but at roughly the same power draw. My personal downside was the SQ degraded noticeably.
@Jamez842 жыл бұрын
Taramps makes a MD3k in a 4ohm version that make 3000 RMS @ 4ohms. They also have a 1ohm and 2 ohm version of that amp. They might have a 4 ohm of the MD8k I'm not sure. But I've done what you're describing in the past of running an amp at 4ohm until I got a 2nd sub then running at 2ohm and doubling the power by halving the resistance.

I had to replace an entire bank of MOSFETS on my 2350 because I sold it to someone and they hooked up a 2 Ohm load to it. I didn't have the HCCA variety that was stable down to 1 or .5 Ohms. After I got it back, I replaced the transistors and it worked perfectly again.

@@MrV1NC3N7V3G4 Yeah I never went competition I only had my system for me. They're old now and the electrolytics are drying out on them. So I'd probably have to get them recapped. I'm not super handy with the solder gun so I'd have to pay someone to do it. I haven't listened to the system in years. The amps been just sitting in the garage. My brother had a 250 HCCA I bought it for him as a present. I believe it's still around somewhere. I really like that old crossover the 30 DB LP. But it uses the five pin for the phantom power you know. I guess I could still use it if I could take one of the cables and convert it to RCA or something. That I don't know how complicated that would be because they turn on wires built inside that thing as well.

Who would have thought that Taramps would improve so much, I remember that 10 or 12 years ago, this manufacturer did not deliver what it promised, not even at 60hz let alone 40hz. That's why their audience ended up being just electric trio (systems that play loud, above 50hz). In fact, no Brazilian manufacturer had decent amplifiers for low bass at that time, but this reality has changed, it remains to improve efficiency, I believe they will!

Yes, I would run an 8,000 watt amp to my subs. I have a pair of Digital Designs supercharged 9500K 10" subs with ESP and the amp would be perfect for it. The subs are rated for 2,000 watts RMS and bursts of 8,000 watts but I believe the 2,000 RMS rating is super conservative. I have given them 2, 500 watts RMS and they could have taken way more power than that, I would be happy giving them 4,000 watts each but I need to switch to LTO batteries because it would take way too many AGM batteries to power the amp.

8k is a lot of power. Even at 90% efficiency you would need multiple batteries and at least one 400 amp alternator to resupply the batteries. 2 would be better. Thanks for testing. Out of my league.

Was considering the Orion HCCA 3000.1D since it recently came available (thanks for the heads up D). But I was gonna run one Hutchinson Audio neodymium ndfeb-18 in a custom 6th order (with battery bank) or a Deaf Bonce Apocalypse db4518 on the HCCA 3000 or a Salt 4. With this amp I could run two subs, but box volume would be too much, would have to scale back to 15s or 12s.

My closest friend has been running one of these, the older model, for at least 3 years and loves it, he had it on a single NSv4 12! I've been running a CAB45 since release and might switch up to this EX MD8k. Two Zv5 10s would love more power!

Crazy how much good quality wattage you can buy now days for so little money. I remember back in the early 2000s, you couldn't get an 8K amp or even anything near that for $450-600. You'd be lucky to find a good 1500 watt amp for that as I recall. But I guess that was probably pre-class-D or when Class-D was brand new technology so... I guess it makes sense that amps were so much more expensive then.
@wal2 жыл бұрын
The electrical needed to power amps like this are still expensive, but yes the amps themselves are crazy cheap

You only need one RCA input for this amplifier. It is an N and an out when you connect one RCA to it it ramps up the voltage so you get full signal?

I have a question, this is a one channel amp rated at 1ohm. When you hook it up to the 4 speakers in the kicker box, if each speaker is one ohm resistance, isnt that 4 ohms if in series or 1 ohm 4 channel if ran parallel? Being that you cant run 4 channels on a 1 channel amp then thst setup is only for 4 ohm right?

But the bigger question is what is the efficiency on the 2 ohm version. Is it the same kind of crappy 69 percent or does it get better efficiency? Makes me curious if this thing does more or better power above 16 volts since it can handle up to 17 volts.
