Yoongi’s artistic vision is actually remarkable. Imagine producing this MV for a mixtape that is released free... marshalling the resources, the expenditure for the set, cast and crew, not to mention the cinematography. And learning the sword fighting dance! Daechwita shows us the level of metacognitive awareness he has an artist, balancing persona and shadow. Agust D and Suga are the perfect 2 sides of a coin. So, Daechwita for me represents Min Yoongi’s triumphant integration of his Ego. The artistic process really helped him vanquish his internal demons (including the anxieties he talked about in The Last) at the same time as his haters.

Yoongi is the producer of Daechwita as well (obviously he is songwriter and composer also). He is the producer of almost all his songs, that's why the beat, instrumental and lyrics with melody tie together in his music to tell a cohesive story. He is also credited for keyboard and synthesizer

Not sure if you know this, so i will share that Yoongi said he doesn't know is blonde Agust D (who represent his past-self) dead or he survived. He also shared that blonde Agust D and black-haired Agust D have second names: the first one is "anger" and the name of the second one we will know in his next mixtape I like that you are watching different explanations. DKDKTV explanation of Korean references is good, but they oversimplified the rest of it. Yoongi made it very clear that "Daechwita" is about fight inside himself and actually you will see that "Daechwita" continues the topic of "Interlude: Shadow"

Yes he said this in a interview they did while on the set of Daechwita it was really interesting to me especially as it was released after the explanation videos came out so it was interesting to watch and see what they got right and where their thinking might not have been what Suga was thinking...The funniest thing to me is some people had gone on about how you could not be a king if you had a scar and so all the things the scar had to represent and then Yoongi just says the scar was his idea and he just liked how it looked and wanted to shock people when he looked up with the hat on and they saw the scar.

i def vibe w bookish theories explanation one more interesting thing for me is that the king-character is blond like Yoongi was during first mixtape "Agust D", that got him an immense fame. a quote from the song "The Last": "And Min Yoongi? I killed him" - this is Agust D's words about getting through the hardships and use them to fire up the greed, that was a weapon to get to the point he is today. he had to create a persona that could take it and shrug everything off. so Agust D is the persona that gave him power and fame, took him to the heights he's at. The king is full of himself, he is rough, doesn't care about those who's below him, "killing" people if he doesn't like them - that's the representation of what he could have become under the industry and success / what he is turning in to / what people have made him out to be "I only started this because I liked music, but the descriptors they add to my name are burdensome at times" - that qoute frome D-2 reminds me of how many time "king" appears in the Daechwita lyrics. it puts hum on top and also puts a pressure on him to maintain the image, that may be not who he really is. he's not a savage or angry person, but this persona can consume him while i don't think the song is purposefully tied to Jung's Map of The Soul theme (all that persona thing), it still applies easily, because BTS are always first in line to reflect on themselves and do self psycho analysis lol

You mentioned their acting skills. I have always been amazed at the skill of their acting. They have a mobile game out, BTS World that have mini movies within the game, where the guys are acting out their character’s parts. I am always amazed at their skills. This video is what got me into BTS. It's been a long time since I've seen such a good MV. It was like a movie. So I checked out The Last by him and that was that. I will add that my fave line from this is "who says time is money? My time is worth more than that"

This is my favorite video by Suga. Liked both explanation videos. Some things mentioned but I found interesting before hearing both explanations was how he mixed traditional elements with modern at the very beginning, him looking traditional as King and lower person but his back up dancers in today's clothing. Some have said going by things he's said that the pill popper could be a past friend or no one in general but if it fits, so be it. Suga's family gave from royal line, that's why that King with the scar was used and as mentioned the gun he uses to kill the King is called ARMY. He's fighting himself to stay humble with help from ARMY.

Hey Charlie , great afternoon ! Something that just hit me was, @16:40 & 16:48, both versions of Agust D are rapping the same lines, “I’m a king, I’m a boss”. The dark haired Agust D says, remember my name, the king Agust D says, you know my name. In the video where Suga was explaining the video, he said it was the new Agust D coming to confront the old Agust D. I never took notice to the slight difference in the lines, but it explains everything ! Yes, we know the old Agust D, but now, 4 years later, the new Agust D is here ! With BTS, everything means something, and you can miss it within the blink of an eye.

Ah this is probably my favorite song by our king and boss. I love his whole D2 mixtape. I definitely recommend watching his D2 Vlive he did once you've finished D2 as he goes through all the songs and gives the background of when they were written, how long it took him and any background stories on them. It's a long Vlive though, almost two hours so if you want to react, you could probably just edit the parts you have thoughts on. Or just watch on your own. I just watched it for the first time yesterday and learned so much. Looking forward to all the upcoming Yoongi songs!

Finally Yoongi. You need more than a week with him...He is amazing and a genius. And he was who produced this film (it looks like a Tarantino film haha). And apart of his lyrics, the korean Dynasty, and the traditional k music into a Suga rap, show who Suga is. And he is a perfect actor in Daechwita. I know that professors at the Universities of Buenos Aires, teach korean history with Daechwita. And I love all of the BTS guys, but Yoongi is my bies for ever!!!! Maybe you should watch Liry Onni Channel adding more details about Daechwita. (it has English subtitles). She is half Korean woman, who was born in Argentina. But she aften travels to korean country with his husband Alex (he was born in Korea and came to my country when he was a teen. Liry´s Grandfather, fled North Korea after the war, and came to Argentina, the country furthest from that horror that he lived. There is a testimony on her channel where she found a letter from those days from her grandfather and the hunger that he had lived those days. Anyway, I love history, but I have never learned so much from the BTS songs about their country. And Daechwita, and her Korean people helping to perform her songs, it gives me goose bumps. I learned more history with them than in all my years of middle school and college. Min 3:23 you can watch the place and the ship where they lived the horror. But also among those survivors of standilism, there was the family of the current president of Korea, too. I even think he was little when they fled the north. Liry breaks down in tears when she finds a photocopy of the letter that her grandfather wrote to a schoolmate who is also a survivor of northern standilism, min 8.27. And he says that the writing was majestic and surprised his friend's son. And then he and his grandmother traveled to meet him a few years before that interview. Pure history. Live story .. I think it was good to watch both explanations, because DKDKTV is at least from a Korean’s observation and perspective, and then the Bookish one has her own detailed research from an ARMY perspective (because of her knowing/referencing connections to past song lyrics and the meaning). I always watch DKDKTV first, because I always want to hear from a Korean perspective first, because some things I think only a Korean may be able to note or recognize, but also watch the other explanation especially if I don’t entirely agree with some of DKDKTV in certain spots. I think this one, I felt like he was not entirely correct on what it’s really about (with exception of historical/cultural explanations), though it doesn’t mean what he has said about Yoongi and BTS’ story isn’t true and that it can also be felt with regards to dealing with the hate/criticism he/they had to deal with.

Told you BTS was different 😁💜....and the best ❤️. Also that “music” industry turned the art of music into cold business, corrupt closed-door handshakes, (it's why all the pop music there all really sounds the same. And tired)debilitating contracts that young ppl signed without attorneys, and if they challenged the fairness, we're kicked out and black balled from performing again. Military service is a loop hole that is a noose for the artist. Alot of money goes into the training, and any money the artist makes, a large cut is taken until this debt is paid off, which is why many have to take side gigs just to eat. And they are still with the company that are supporting them, still charging them. Never ending debt. Often times they still owe money when they enlist. A real racket. Bang PD was with YG but split from them to create a company that SHOULD be....and he was right. Artistic freedom. Yoongi is speaking of this. So glad they are not affected by this, that those rats are powerless and hold no influence with BTS.

Because of the way Asian music industry (this goes for cpop and jpop) is so “manufactured”, it is part of the reason why BTS has had such a hard time breaking into the US music scene and are still not being taken seriously and given the respect they deserve. The way the Asian music industry rolls the idols and pop songs off the assembly line, with all flash and little to nothing in their substance and depth, has done the whole industry a great disservice. It is so hard to get people to open their minds and listen to BTS and look beyond the surface of kpop idol, to see the tremendous talent they have. Having the label of Kpop idol is almost a death sentence to any seriously talented music artist in the industry. I just think of all the seriously gifted and talented artists that will never come to fruition because of the kpop label.

But now... the content that you put out and the research that you do along with the multiple videos that you will react to (just in relation to a single video) are amazing. Always appreciate the honesty, C! I think we cringe thinking about our original videos, for many reasons. We were new to YT overall and absolutely new to "reacting" since that was not our original intent at all in creating our channel. We've never NOT been interested or invested in BTS since starting, though.

18:14 nope, the box earlier had a head of someone he had decapitated. 19:29 yes the other guy is David and that's Danny and I don't like him because he had a big scandal a couple years ago where he teamed up with a BTS anti and admitted he was using the boys for clout. And the gun 🔫 yoongi use has "ARMY" crafted on it. Using the car, the gun, and the morden dress of BTS and ARMY might also symbol the new era they represent will take over the old one like dynasty. People just follow the good music instead of follow the giant but factory made.
