Jasu Ok,before 2001 you could drive a Reliant Robin on a Full Motorcycle permit because it had a B1 endorsement which permitted use of 3 or 4 wheeled Vehicles up to 550Kg,but after 2001 the B1 endorsement was never given by the DVLA. In 2013 the rules changed and now you can only drive any 3 wheeled vehicles as long as you are over 21 with a full Category A motorcycle license. So yes it can be driven on a Motorcycle license but only in the U.K.

Young Bill Cosby did an album called 200 mph. It was a standup album recalling the time Shelby custom built him a Super Cobra, which he partially test drove and quickly got rid of because it scared the devil out of him. Turned out the story was true. A twin Supercharged, 900 HP former competition car. It got sold to a guy who lost control of it and drove it off a cliff.

I completely agree that these cars are all inappropriate for all but the most skilled drivers. It's interesting how many Porsche cars made this list. Due to their rear-engine layout, they will switch instantly from understeer to oversteer in corners- especially when the less-experienced let off the throttle because the car is understeering in a decreasing-radius turn. Re: the Lancia, Renault, and AC Cobra, ANY powerful car with a short wheelbase will kill you and spit on your grave, just due to their increased tendency to break loose and spin.

That's right!

As you mentioned about letting off the throttle, a natural tendency for any driver inexperienced in driving this kind of car, trailing throttle oversteer was a big problem on this car, and also with the 911s in general. I read a "Porsche High-Performance Driving Handbook" by Vic Elford, former F1 racer, and he gave pointers on how the heavy rear weight bias of the 911 could be used to a racer's advantage in swinging the rear around on turns.

Nice video but comments on the 427 Cobra are inaccurate. Weight distribution was actually quite good- nearly 50/50, it had very good brakes for it's day and it handled well FOR THE 1960's. The 427 Cobra was completely upgraded from the original AC Ace 289 Cobra- frame, brakes, suspension totally different. Give it a break, it's the only vintage car in this whole vid.

@rbagel55
@rbagel55 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I l know it's a crazy world. and people are always sue happy. I agree there were a lot of case where the manufacter should be held responsible, like the Chevy Corvair,, Ford Pinto exploding gas tanks etc. Air bags are good and not too complex. But I think modern cars have taken this too far. Traction control? Make sure your tires are good, car mechanically sound, use a little common sense, know the limits of your vehicle-good enough for me I am 52 years old I wish I had my old 1977 Toyota Celica I had in HS, I put over 500,000 miles on it. Never had to go to the mechanic because it was easy to service.Younger people will never experiance this kind of reliability in a vehicle. I had it for over 10 years,and I wish I had rebuilt the motor and transmission and drove it around another 10 years. Because my luck with vehicles, particuarlly my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee has turned on me. It has been one problem after the other, now the ECM has failed. now the dealership wanted like 2000+ dollars for replacement. So I had it replaced at the dealership, and it has been in and out of the shop several times since then, most recently for a new crankshaft position sensor. For a vehicle that has less than 70,000 miles, I shouldn't be having problems like this. I know one thing, I'll never have a new ECM installed in a used vehicle again, I should have hunted one down in a junkyard and had it installed without a warranty. If you think about it all the technology in the world is only going to work so much. If some asshole broadsided you in his big SUV at 90+ MPH, well your chances of survival are slim with or without it. Did you know that you can buy a new car for around $2500.00 in China? Sure it is a little 3 cylinder shitbox, but the same car here in the States will cost you $18,000 because of all the crap required by law. Yeah I know, they are probably offering cheap cars as a method of population control! Still, I hate how modern cars are being built, everyone I know has had issues with them. And forget about servicing them yourself, the way I use too.. Everything is so proprietary. When that computer shit fails, it is always super costly And nothing is made to last. Parts are designed and tested to fail after a certain period of time, making sure you go spend more money (that I don't have) Modern cars are a money pit. I am trying to learn not do be dependent on them And if I sound like a worn out bitter old man, well maybe I am!
@bdcasey11
@bdcasey11 7 жыл бұрын
rbagel55 my first car was a 96 grand Cherokee and that thing was a tank. bought it at 200k miles and drove it for a few years and sold it at 300k miles, all it needed was the carrier bearings and whatnot replaced in the rear end, and all the electronics worked, even the heated seats, the 10 way adjustability in the seats and the sunroof, I don't know what jeep did in the mid 90's but they did something right, but ever since 05-07 on up they are some of the most unreliable cars out there, a shame really.

I think the result was good. Your narration is improving with each video :) there's plenty of dangerous cars - you could have filled the list with pre-1993 Porsche 911s as they are all tricky to handle. The 1970s-early 1980s Aston Martins (e.g. Virage, DBS) were also quite tricky to drive by some accounts. Some Lamborghinis are famously hard to drive - particularly the Diablo and Countach, with their extremely heavy steering at low speeds. Old Ferraris are also tricky to drive well - those old 250 GT's as well as the Americas had quite rudimentary suspensions (e.g. solid rear axle on many models) as well as sometimes-difficult gearboxes.

In translation, the Cobra was a real high performance car that didn't require significant modification to be good in racing. The main phrasing of something terrible in a car means that is actually is terrible, that the car has a skill bar (Cobra), or is generally not studied (i.e. No classic muscle car can handle when in fact few are able to in regards to their construction).

The Shelby Cobra Daytona has little to do with the production MKII and 427. It even had inboard brakes, while they were external on the production cars to reduce costs.

ohhhhh and where was that - in your back yard doing donuts, unfortunately there is more to a proper fast car than the capability to do endless wheelies, seems to be an American performance standard. is this why chevy is STILL trying to make an impression at places like Le Mans after only what 30/40 years? needs more than just big HP to keep going for 24hrs and win.

You are very wrong about the AC Cobra ! It had near 50/50 weight distribution and the handling was great. It was dangerous because it had so much torque going to the skinny rear wheels, and the car itself was very, very light. In the right hands, these cobras are a big problem for most of the super and hyper cars ;) There are a lot of videos proving it.

Cobra sounded more like your opinion, rather than fact. Drive one for a day, and then base an opinion. I'll be the first to tell you that it has pretty predictable turn in, and as long as you don't hammer it in a corner, and take a reasonable line, it's actually pretty enjoyable to drive. If you're talking about replica's, then sure, what replica actually compares to the real thing, they're not up to the task. Take out a real Cobra (Has Carroll's Signature on the passenger dash pad) built to his standard, and throw out a real description of the vehicle. I'm not taking anything away as far as needing to know how to handle the car, It'll kill you in a heartbeat if you act like an idiot and get overconfident, but isn't that pretty much any car?

Lin Chester the porsche it's self did not kill him it was the driver who crashed it he was riding with the driver who couldn't handle the car so it wasn't the porsches fault like most people say and the walker family couldn't understand since I'm pretty sure they tried to sue porsche and failed

Joshua Godsey the driver at that time was a buddy to Paul Walker and is an race car driver. And they were driving normally so. There is no way that crash could have happened and kills both of them. Porsche could not explain how the car behaved. So it might be a malfunction somewhere but no evidence. So the walker family has the right for answers.

The cobra part proves you don't know a shit about cars. "Inadequate engineering" means fastest production car an basically beating everyone everywhere including Ferarri humiliation in it's own game. "American bad handling" is making a proper race car out of outdated yet good British small roadster chassis. For the memory of Carrol Shelby you should not do such stupid mistakes.
