I have lost 70 lbs since April 1st but I have gotten into a bad stall. Last month has been a struggle to get passed 420 # . I cant not give back all I lost to this point, I worked to dam hard to just give it all back. I need help to get over this hump and back to losing again. One thing I havent done again is go back to drinking anything but water. Thats my one victory I cling to and my reminder that all is not lost. I knew this was a endless journey but I cant sit here and lie to myself, this last month has been super hard. Anyone with advice or encouragement I appreciate it so much. I try to hit 10k steps daily still, and fast daily. I just need to get my eating habits back under control again. I hope you all have a great day and may your journey be beautiful and successful as you all are God Bless.

I recently reached my goal of losing 100 lbs and I wanted to thank you for all the knowledge Brix!! I remember watching your vids back in 2018 dreaming about this moment, and just you being open and vulnerable helped me a lot! It made me realise that I really could do it too no matter the situation, all i had left to do was to start and not look back. To all of you still in the process, i swear if you stay patient and consistent, one day at a time you will do it too. I wish you all the best❤

I appreciate your advice. It's great, I'm 17 and have been overweight my entire life; last September, I weighed 290 pounds, and now I weigh 214; I was overwhelmed with everything I should be doing, including weight training, and I wasn't pacing myself at all, which led to a lot of stress for me, but now I've started taking it slower and concentrating on just running 30 minutes a day before moving onto weight training and other forms of exercise

How do you stay motivated and disciplined when trying to loss weight with a back injury
@hamzabhai4186

Hi there, I went through something similar (but with my knee). Focus on your nutrition and try exercises you can do without burdening your back. Always consider physiotherapy, they know everything about the human anatomy regarding the skeleton, muscles and other moving parts. They’ll give you a tailored advice. Try swimming and using resistance bands! As for motivation: the higher your fat percentage, the higher your inflammation in your body (which slows your ability to heal). The ability to heal might be one of the most special things the body is capable of doing. Besides changing your life with sheer will or volition. Hope this helps!

Welcome to my world! I had a pelvic disc bulge on my lower back Focus on core, glute and more functional training for a while. Lots of barbell suitcase lifts, bridges, planks etc Do NOT ego lift and really make sure when getting back to lifting, start with a proper warm up and get a pump in your targeted muscle group. Learn to brace with your core on all your lifts - if you can’t brace on your warm ups you’re not ready to lift! Yoga / stretching form mobility is a HUGE benefit. I did got yoga weekly for 6 months which helped develop my core.

Definitely don’t do any exercises that irritates your back. Stick to the ones that feel the best. I’ve had the same problem for the last 4 years since I started and I used to try to do movements even if they irritated my back because I thought I needed to do them . Heavy Squats, deadlifts and barbell rolls. I never felt any relief until I cut those out and lowered the weight and focused on form.

@@jeremylambert9688 yeah I don’t use any free weight. Free weight exercises tend to more more prone to injury. I just use cables and machines because they are more stable and less chance of my form messing up

This was my struggle for a long time. 1.)Start out slow. Don’t concern yourself with going hard and fast like everybody else. 2.) do exercises that will not put too much pressure on your back. Like Brix has said before, if you find your favorite three machines do those three machines. As long as you’re moving that’s all that matters. 3.) focus on your core, your glutes, back muscles etc. sounds crazy but building those muscles has helped me because I have herniated discs. BUT take it slow. Start out with low weights and very slowly work your way up. I’ve paid for trying to go in on stuff and always ended aggravating my sciatica or my neck and would be out the gym for weeks Just be patience and as time goes on you will be able to do more. It’s been years for me and I can do alot more at the gym with less pain.

I have a bad back and knees. I do squats using my body weight. I make sure it’s very control and I’m not putting too much pressure on my knees and/or back. At a chair under you while you’re doing it so you know how far to down. And do it at your own pace. Go down as far as you can initially and just keep working at it.

Weight loss surgery won’t get rid of bad habits bro. I’ve considered it myself and figured that I need to double down on my mindset.

I had weight loss surgery in 2009. I was 445# at one of my last weigh ins, I got down to 320#. I know I was probably less than that at one point but I stopped going to the monthly meetings with my surgeon. I felt good. I looked good. People started noticing me more. Women were coming up and talking to me, (shit I wasn’t used to! Lol) I was going to the gym 4 times a week putting in 13-16 miles of cardio. I was playing sports and doing things in my late 30’s, I could never do as a teenager and young adult! But then I life happened. I got cocky. Put on a little here and there. Gained about back almost everything I lost, from 2015-2022. But I was able to maintain it for a while. Fast forward to 2020. The pandemic hit, my family got covid, I lost my Dad in 2021, I left my jobs in 2022, not working, I became depressed, with everything happening all at once, I gained so much, I’m almost back to where I was . I’m 51 now and 427 and I’m struggling at everything. Tying my shoes, walking, standing, bad knees, back pain, I even have a hard time showering and wiping my ass! I have nobody to blame but myself. So, surgery isn’t always the answer, even though it felt like it was for me at that time. It’s a tool to help you. But remember, you can still gain it all back like I did.

Idk. Millions of people do keto and have kept the weight off. It was actually created by a doctor in the 20s to cure epilepsy. So I wouldn’t go as far to say most of the time keto doesn’t work, that’s just simply not true.
