I found you while looking for more information about the whole Ella/Johnny 90 day thing. I'm an admin of the group she said she's in on Facebook. She is a member. It's very concerning to me to see this relationship portrayed in this way, with these people. The group is not a dating group, or meant to meet an Asian Prince, but because all the admins are already married to an Asian man, or are Asian men married to white, Western women. It helps to hear from people like me and my husband on how to deal with various cultural differences, when attempting to date someone who may be from a different background and have a totally different set of values than you do. The group was never MEANT to be a Fetish group, it was more of a ''So you've met an Asian man and you would like to date him but you're kinda ignorant and need a bit of help to navigate complex socio-cultural issues that arise''. Every now and then, we get some of these people... The ones who are like, super yellow fever-y. It's usually the Kpop stans, or the anime weebs. We generally tolerate them so long as they don't harass members or make anyone uncomfortable. I am dismayed that people might think there is an Order an Asian Boyfriend website out there or something. All that said, since I started watching your channel, YT serves me more of your content, and I'm loving it, lol. Especially when you dye your hair. We NEED you to melt it off with bleach on camera, at least once, so we can get a Brad Mondo crossover.

"I've waited 29 years for someone to love me" Not I want Johnny to love me, just someone. She's deeply insecure and will latch onto anyone who gives her affection, tbh I get the vibe that she would jump into a new relationship very quickly if Johnny and her broke up. I hope this goes well but I have a feeling it won't. Also buying a plane ticket without consulting you, emotionally manipulating you, not considering your situation when youre trying to make it work, not caring about how their behavior would affect your life, job, and family are all massive red flags. I really hope this doesn't happen again bc that would be a deal breaker for me.

I also don't understand why Americans always expect their partner to come here to the states. Why don't they ever consider going to the other person's country? Things would be so much better for Johnny if Ella moved to China. Is she even thinking about his son? Does she realize how much that's going to cost, getting 2 people over here? It cost us around $2,000 to get my son-in-law here. Actually, it probably cost more than that. Our immigration lawyer was a one-hour drive from my house, so the gas to get there. We had to get something to eat. My husband and I were the sponsors since my 19-year-old daughter didn't have enough income to sponsor him. We are also financially responsible for him for 10 years.

As an asian, it's true that people will talk behind your back just to not hurt your feelings. They will wait to say "I told you so"
@angeliquewu83182 жыл бұрын
Kind of. Different Asian cultures will have different levels of that though. In Chinese culture, people would be more confrontational than in, say, Japanese culture (arguably the most reserved of all of the Asian cultures) but they still have more of this than Western cultures. Chinese people have the reputation of being the most straight-shooting of all the East Asian ones, at least.

@@TheChubbyJenny That's because they know and are familiar with you lol, so speaking to you honestly is a kind of intimacy. To outsiders though, there is more of a need for courtesy. Have you ever noticed that whenever you thank your family, they will say, "不用客气", or "no need for courtesy"? This is the same concept; between people who are close/intimate, Chinese people see no reason to be "polite", which is seen as a kind of "distancing" between people. This is why to people who they are close to, Chinese people are much more blunt, and can be quite brutally honest, even more so than Americans.
@TheChubbyJenny2 жыл бұрын
@@angeliquewu8318 That’s true. I was watching 90 day fiancé with Johnny (Chinese) and Ella (American). People had a problem with Johnny saying that he wishes for Ella to lose weight because she’s fat, but I didn’t see an issue with that. I saw it as Johnny looking at for her Ella’s health and life expectancy, because my family does the same exact thing. My family told my aunt and dad (who used to be obese) that they need to care for their health because they’re obese. Both never took it personally because it’s seen as a health concern, not a visual concern. I guess for Chinese, we are taught to distinguish between shallow criticism and real criticism which is why we are more blunt with each other. I worked at a Chinese boba shop for almost two years and when I started training, the staff straight up told me I’m slow and that I suck 🥲🥲🥲🥲. I cried a lot at that job but I’m lowkey thankful that they pushed me because it changed my work ethics forever.

They have laws about unmarried couples though, which would affect them
@Aiffam12 жыл бұрын
@@AprilllisaurEgaming Those laws in practice are used to curb prostitution. A few countries (who are also popular tourist destinations) use similar laws to protect their citizens and combat human traficking. So they still wouldn't be affected.

Completely agree. China rn is containing Covid really well, and it's a lot of risk that he's taking to go out of the country. Especially since in other countries, you have to pay for Covid medical care. Not to mention, the amount of financial loss he's taking to see her when she doesn't even seem to understand that he's CHINESE and not Japanese omfg. It always pisses me off so much when people are described as "Asian" when people are trying to identify their culture. "Asian" is not a culture! Literally, China alone is the size of the European continent with twice the population. Forget just Chinese culture, each region, province, and town has their own specialties and cultural quirks.

Depends on a the location; some Chinese I lived with in Northeast were loud and direct, to the point that can come across as aggressive, until they burst out laughing. 😅 Also fights were normal. It was something I had trouble getting used to lol. This woman needs to grow up before getting into any relationship. Does she even know about him quitting his job, his parents opposing their relationship, or his son?? 😶 Better yet, does she know the difference between China and Japan? If so, she doesn't give a crap, and those aren't good signs.

Agreed! Like c'mon Ella. At least attempt to learn a little bit about the culture that he's coming from. Better yet, reference the correct weeb culture and focus on Chinese drama shows and Manhua?! It would still be dating a person because of the media you like to consume, but at least it would be from the correct country haha.

Being a part of a relationship with someone from a different culture takes a lot of understanding and cooperation. I give Johnny a lot of props for speaking English so well and trying to understand Ella’s perspective. She is really selfish and there are no scenes showing her learning Chinese (“Stony was speaking to me in Chinese like it was English!” like English is the only language in the world. I really hope Johnny and Stony can find a kind person to love and take care of them.

I am in the same facebook group Ella is in, in fact, I'm a Admin. I am there not to meet an Asian man, but because I'm already married to an Asian man. I met my husband 9 years ago. We were LDR, he's Canadian, I'm American. He is also Chinese-Vietnamese. Having been in a long distance relationship myself, I literally cannot imagine ever just booking a ticket and inviting myself to meet someone like that. My husband and I were LDR for 2 years. We met after 4 months, then waited another 8 months to see each other, and after that, we were seeing each other very regularly, at least once a month. His parents liked me, his friends liked me, we got married and went through immigration. Honestly I see it from both sides. The first two times we met, my husband came to see me, in the US. He took time off work, and he paid for a hotel room, while I paid for a rental car and our food. After that, I came to Canada, and I stayed directly at his apartment with him. I have no idea how a LDR can even survive with this level of drama and inability to ever even MEET... In an LDR, at some point, one of you has to be willing to completely relocate your whole life, and take a risk to meet someone in a foreign country. Without that, you're just wasting your time. Johnny seems less than committed to seeing Ella. That said, she's acting crazy pants... inviting yourself to DUBAI without even talking to him first. GURL, no.

I figured she was an Inuyasha fan 😬 Though she’s totally out of line and fetishizing, I felt bad to see her cry. As a teenager (which is a bit more normal bc teens are irrational) I romanticized tf out of manga/anime and definitely though “damn i’m tryina be loved like that,” but not to this creepy and obsessive extent. Especially once I became an adult 😅
@ThexDynastxQueen2 жыл бұрын

The thing is I feel like a lot of people see issues like this as mutually exclusive to certain things. Ella I think to some level does love him but that doesn’t remove her entire motivations are built on fetishization and her wants. It doesn’t remove that she is deeply has built an unhealthy connection to love through anime/manga which are both damaging from a romantic prospective but also again, something linked directly to an unhealthy view on East Asian culture/men which I do think can extend from that idea of love being a comfort for something coping for appearance/other self-esteem issues which is sad. I still think she is a deeply selfish and willfully ignorant person based on what was shown and how she talks about the world around her but that doesn’t mean that her problems don’t extend from somewhere that need the help of a therapist- not a TLC show which makes it’s sorta sad because I do think there are a lot of people with this mentality (at least about love, not the fetishization and generally shitty attitude) I can feel sad about. I guess if she was a better person as a whole dealing with the unhealthy love expectation I’d feel a little more sad but she mostly sucks so it’s harder for me to completely sympathize cause Jonny seems like a genuinely decent guy who doesn’t deserve to be her “Asian catch”

I just wanna let you know that “differently-abled” is a term that many disabled people do not like. Is okay to say whatever but just wanna put it out there that we (usually) prefer “disabled person” or “person with disabilities”. Because there is nothing wrong with having disabilities. Since you do not come off as someone who wants to offend, I personally do not care what wording you use…but other people certainly will. It’s like “learning difference” versus “learning disability”. Usually it’s non-disabled people who pick these seemingly less offensive terms that most people in the community do not want. I’m kinda curious to see what other disablednpeople think…I know this has nothing to with the video…but the only people I ever see disagreeing with me are people who aren’t disabled. But then again, my disabilities are mostly invisible so who knows🤷 I don’t like assuming anything. Good video. I like how you discuss this TLC stuff without just bashing everyone and it’s still funny😁 I always look forward to your content
