9800X 3D VS 7800X 3D Benchmarks 1080p | RX 7900XTX

Unfortunately I was unable to provide a uniformed on screen display, due to MSI Afterburner not fully supporting the 9800X3D at this time. I had to use HWinfo64 to grab the temps, clock speed and power draw. Both the 7800X 3D and 9800X 3D are using PBO+ 200Mhz and Curve Optimizer Negative 20.

The question is, is anything noticeable playing in 4k? I personally play in 4k and I was thinking of buying a 9900x, also when using fsr the resolution is lowered and then it would be noticeable, right?

pretty crazy that this Frankenstein's monster of a cpu is 30% faster than the 7800X3D in multithreaded workloads. Could give me a reason to upgrade, and give the 7800X3D to my son.

Try with 4090, excluding fc6 (+25%) and WD Legion (+24%) we are on range +2-9% in the other games

Yes, here in some games it is GPU bound that's why there are no gains.

It's great. Really efficient with an UV and pretty snappy at production despite only 8 cores 16 threads. Temps are awesome gaming feels silky smooth.

seems there is a gpu bound in some games when you see gpu at 330-340 watt, on ashes of singularity at 8:25 in the most cpu bound area you can clearly see how much faster is 9800x3d ((why did you used dx11 instead of vulkan or dx12?)) or in far cry 6 and watch dog legion anyway amd gpu usually have less driver overhead so can can reach gpu limit faster even with weaker cpu i remember hardware u. made a video about it

I think the way the footage was captured on my phone is playing tricks on all of you.. My XTX Nitro+ is nice and secure with no sag. If you even put pressure on the card it does not move an inch. It's perfectly fine. Has been for over 2 years. Stop overreacting lol.

man, the tests on low are irrelevant because it has 9800x3d 30fps more. I don't understand why you don't test on ultra to the maximum, let's see if there is still that difference. on the ultra the increase will be minimal. no one plays on low with these processors and high end video cards. the tests are irrelevant.

The test is not irrelevant; he is benchmarking the two CPUs. If he sets everything to ultra settings, he could become GPU-bound, which would defeat the purpose of testing the performance difference between the CPUs. But then again I'm not a expert and might be wrong🤷‍♂️

Thats right. Right is either that in a real scenario (4k dlaa with everything maxed out)the differences will be minimal. Max 5-10fps more in average.

Useless test. Please do realistic test: 2k, max quality, rtx on. Yes, 430fps is better than 400 but what's this mean for the gamer in real life? Answer is Nothing. 🖖

Go watch some Hardware Unboxed and educate yourself on why CPU tests are done at 1080p: It must be a CPU limited scenario to truly show the limits of CPUs. We are not testing the GPUs here, that's why we don't check higher resolutions or graphics settings where we are likely GPU limited.

Cpu's are for higher lows and Gpu's are for higher highs.

@@Jaegernow You buy a better, faster CPU if you want to future proof the PC a bit: i usually get an high end CPU available and keep it for 6 years because when i need to change graphics card i don't need to change CPU again. I went from an Intel 7 9700K to a Ryzen 7800X3D but i could have keep the 9700K for another year and have the 9800X3D right now. I changed the 9700K because i was starting to have CPU bottleneck even at 4K Maxed Out Settings in Red Dead Redemption 2 and i was bottlenecking my RTX 3080 a bit. Silly me, the 9700K was still almost perfect for my gaming needs. If you don't care about future proofing, sure, just get what you need for your current videocards, i repeat, i buy high end CPU because so It will still perfectly fine for my next video card as well.
