I'm liking the Skyhawk more and more, thanks to your vids. Surprised that this level of automation was present in the 60s!

The approach AoA that’s recommended in the NATOPS manual is 17.5 degrees. Thats also reflected on the AoA indicator, at 7:34 as the meatball is displayed (yellow circle. The AoA gauge actually has a white index mark there for it too. The white triangular mark on the bottom of the AoA indicator (8 degrees) is an approximate recommended AoA for cruise at 35k feet. Thanks for your awesome videos and hard work!

It's a cool little plane. Nice and easy to use, very good useful load. And it'd free, which is amazing!

Alright, so a way to make carrier landings a lot easier with this aircraft would be this: Before the turn into final at 300 feet turn on autopilot altitude and APC and it'll automatically trim your aircraft into "on speed". Once it's time to turn into final: disengage autopilot, lose all unnesessary altitude and land.

So if there was a newer HUD visible, would I be "controlling" the flight path marker, while the throttle handles my nose for AoA?

It seems completely backwards to me. "pitch for speed, throttle for altitude" is not valid anymore?

It is not, you pitch to maintain your speed. It line using trim. You pitch up to slow down, and you pitch down to speed up. Same with your throttle. The more power you input, the faster you go. How do you compensate for the speed up? Your pitch. You pitch up(hense increasing rate of climb) to maintain your speed. Same goes with the opposite, you decrease throttle to decend cause you loose airspeed so you pitch down to speed up. Makes sense?
