Some hunts are more than just a journey; they’re a tribute to family, tradition, and the legacy passed down from one generation to the next. "Bloodlines and Browtines" isn’t just about hunting moose in Alaska - it’s a story that goes beyond the thrill of the hunt and connects us deeply to our past, our present, and our future. This trip meant more than just a father-son adventure. When my dad brought along my Grandpa Leo’s old rifle, it was as if Grandpa Leo himself was with us on this unforgettable hunt. Though he’s no longer here, he left a mark on our family through the skills, values, and traditions he handed down. Carrying that rifle in Alaska made him a part of this experience in a way I’ll never forget.
This film captures our 10-day journey into the Alaskan backcountry. Armed with my dad’s rifle and my son by our side, we took on the rugged terrain and the challenges of hunting in some of the world’s most beautiful, untamed wilderness. This wasn’t just any hunt. It was a chance to honor my dad’s memories with his own father and to share that experience with my son, Leo, named after Grandpa Leo. It’s a reminder of how traditions are passed along, and with them, the stories, lessons, and love for the land.
What’s in This Film? We took a long journey down a remote Alaskan River, covering miles of territory to track down a legendary Alaskan bull moose. But this wasn’t just about the trophy. For my dad and me, it was about sharing the stories, teaching my son the patience and skill of hunting, and passing down Grandpa Leo’s rifle as a symbol of our family’s legacy.
From the start, we capture emotional moments when my dad talks about hunting with his father. The feeling of Grandpa Leo being there with us through his rifle made this trip one of the most meaningful experiences I’ve ever had. As the hunt unfolded, I could feel the weight of those family traditions and how they’ve shaped us. For anyone who’s been on a hunt with their own dad or granddad, this film will resonate.
A Legacy Carried Through Three Generations This trip was about more than hunting - it was about connecting with my dad over our shared memories, learning from the stories he’d heard from Grandpa Leo, and, at the end, watching my dad pass Grandpa Leo’s rifle on to my son, Leo. Standing there, watching my dad hand over that rifle, I could see how family traditions live on, how they shape us, and how they’re carried forward through generations.
Why “Bloodlines and Browtines”? Bloodlines represent family heritage, legacy, and the respect for traditions handed down from father to son. Browtines represent the moose we sought, a majestic symbol of Alaskan wildlife and the culmination of our journey. This is a tribute to my Grandpa Leo, my dad, and my son, honoring the experiences and values that shaped us all.
Thank you for watching Bloodlines and Browtines, a journey of family, tradition, and the rugged beauty of Alaska. For more Alaskan hunts, gear tips, and outdoor stories, stay tuned!
