Leia better get her mind Force wiped at the end of this series. No way she and Obi-Wan could have bonded like this and she had no reaction when he got killed by Vader. The fact that Leia undeniably knows “Ben” is obi wan kenobi now, the fact that fortress inquisitorius doesn’t have a shield for no reason other than plot convenience, the fact that they didn’t bother to scramble any TIE fighters as they were fleeing the fortress on a snowspeeder? That stormtrooper who just stood still and waited to die in the dark was also really dumb. Does he not at least have the sense to back up to a wall so that Obi wan can’t kill him from behind?, which is also what ended up happening. I’m one of the Star Wars fans that has liked this series less with each episode and feel like this series overall didn’t need to exist. These episodes feel like spinning their wheels at this point from Vader leaving Kenobi alive done very poorly executed to the Grand Inquisitor of Rebels Season 1 getting stabbed pathetically by Reva to this filler episode which is supposed to be the end of the second act. Twin Suns episode of Rebels has currently had a better portrayal of Kenobi than anything here after Part 1. Fallen Order has done a superior version of Jedi escaping an underwater fortress. There are still no flashbacks of Kenobi and Anakin especially here when in the bacta tank they had the perfect chance to give us something that’s worth the existence of this show. Gonna feel disappointed to think that Rebels may be a better use of legacy and existing characters than anything here in Kenobi (aside from Young Leia who’s surrounded by continuity holes and middling writing)!

Stranger Things Season 4 episodes have all been well over an hour-long, with not even a 10th of the money Disney has. I want to genuinely know what excuse Disney has for not giving the same to us; For as complex and fleshed out as that escape plan needed to be to even have a chance of working, it's pretty ironic that this was the shortest episode so far with the most amount of plot armor and contrivances packed in. I'm not asking for Game of Thrones season 1-4 level writing here, I just want a semi-competent story told. I really, really, really wanted to like this show; especially after the abomination that was BoB. We continue to see this type of egregiously mediocre plot and dialogue, yet Disney still cannot learn from their easily correctable mistakes. They are so blind to their failures and do not hesitate to gaslight the fanbase, calling us toxic, racist, misogynistic, etc. when we criticize them. I'm not sure how much longer I can support this level of ineptitude by writers and producers that get paid way more than they should (especially when I see people in the comments below taking not even 15 minutes to write up better plot points of their own).
@munozali12 жыл бұрын
I usually hold Star Wars to higher standards than Stranger Things, although I try not to set the bar too high either. I think ST season 4 has been pretty weak and it has too many things going on at the same time. The episodes are long, but the story tends to drag on and on. I do wish Obi-Wan Kenobi had longer episodes or more of them. With only two episodes left, it seems like the story is going to feel incomplete. I hope I'm wrong.

For the first three episodes I mostly disregarded all the people who were criticizing this show. However, the forth episode is worrying me for various reasons, mostly how the plot has not advanced much and how Vader is underused. Now that Vader’s voice can be done with AI, the character is incredibly easy to use, even if Hayden is not available you can just have someone else in the suit. And the audio team did a perfect job at the voice, too. For the record, I don’t think Vader should be fighting Kenobi or meeting him directly constantly, but it sucks he does not have a more active role in finding the one person in the galaxy he wants to kill the most. I’ve seen some people say that they are starting to loose hope with the live action content and only look forward to the content they give us through animation. I am starting to agree, I think Bad Batch season 1 wasn’t that great but it did not make critical errors with developed characters like the live action material is starting to do, so season 2 could hopefully be better. And Tales of the Jedi looks awesome as well, probably the project I am most looking forward to.

The fact that the Rebels series managed to introduce less plot holes, have less plot conveniences, and be more consistent with the canon as a whole compared to this show is beyond me. Like, one example is Maul's efforts in finding Obi-Wan in Rebels, the task seemed way more challenging and difficult; he went from joining Jedi and Sith Holocrons together to gain knowledge, to utilizing Night Sister magic, he and Ezra went through some pretty extensive means to locate Obi-Wan, these were like one-time options. While in this show, the Nari Jedi dude at the beginning just happens to discover Obi-Wan on Tatooinee... but how, or from whom? Surely Bail wouldn't endanger Obi-Wan & Luke by sending an already hunted Jedi to his location. And then we have Reva in her ultimate power of nosey-ness, she somehow knows of every dirty secret of the legacy characters, she'll probably end up discovering Obi-Wan's purpose on Tatooinee, how much you wanna bet? When Maul and Ezra discovered Obi-Wan's whereabouts, not even Ezra left Tatooinee knowing of Obi-Wan's purpose there; Maul discovered his purpose there, but that was why he had to die... so in that case, no one left Tatooinee knowing of Obi-Wan's purpose there. Not to mention that they got a writer who hasn't even seen ROTS, and later clarified that he quote: "had no knowledge of Obi-Wan already knowing who Vader was." The writing as a whole is wack.

That's when Vader kills you. I don't understand how they got this wrong. Adding to the many stupid decisions made in this episode, why didn't Reva look into the memory bank of the Lola droid to see if it had recorded any information about the Path? She didn't fail though. They still know where Obi-Wan is. Moreso than when the episode started. Vader is ruthless, not stupid, he isn't going to waste cannon fodder before a big battle. As for the memory banks suggestion, she mightve, and they might not have had anything worthwhile in it. We don't need to see every tiny answer for every small nitpick. Otherwise I could pen a whole essay on how stupid it was that nobody ever thought to test the midichlorian counts of influential players in the clone wars when the jedi knew there was a shadowy hidden sith lord manipulating things somewhere. Or why nobody ever thought to give Obi-Wan enough money to bribe Jango Fett into joining their side when they knew a bounty hunter, only loyal to money, was arrayed against the republic. these are problems that only exist if you go digging for them. There is not a single visually impressive moment here. But worse is the characters. Even jf you hate Luke in the Last Jedi, it's not a retcon since it takes place after the events of the previous films. But with Obi-Wan, ROTS, Rebels and ANH _all_ indicate that he spent those years training so he could prepare Luke to take down Vader. The fact that he is out of touch with the force is ridiculous and out-of-character. Obi-Wan was a Jedi Master, among the best of the best, who trained to let go of fear and suffering. How does it make any sense that he gave up on those beliefs only to regain them by the time the Rebels timeline roles around? It's an insult to the Kenobi that Lucas and Filoni created.

Weird how Vader let's the very obviously incompetent inquisitors do all the hard work when it's about probably the number one task of his life which is hunting/capturing Kenobi instead of doing it himself. Not just weird but sucks how the inquisitors steal the spotlight from Vader. I liked Reva in the first 2 episodes but they havent't built any reason to care about her as a character so now it is getting funny how the show is trying to force the character to the audience though there is substance to it. As an episode it was a dumb waste of time considering this show is only 6 episodes, there is no space for filler rescue missions in that, though at this point it's not a secret anymore that the writers of this show are not the right people for that job. This is getting so annoying, they have the Disney budget and technology and everything but getting people who understand the source material seems to be impossible. Or Disney just doesn't care. I wouldn't even mind so much if i didn't have to get excited for a week just to get a very short lackluster episode. Imo Disney should take a break from live-action Star Wars. Or make less of them and put more effort to individual shows. Like to me the movies beat the shows in so many ways, the sets, the atmosphere, directing. This episode felt like one big unfired Chekov's gun. For those that don't know, it's a writing tool where you introduce something in the first act, then USE IT in the final act. THIS episode and the show feels like the writer doesn't know what Chekov's gun is. And that's BAD because that's basic writing 101. You set something up, you pay it off later. And even with all of it's own problems, even The Rise of Skywalker had setup and payoff. Rey needs to learn how to commune with Force Ghosts? That's paid off in the final battle. Rey needs to find out who she is? We see hints of her being a Palpatine via the force lightning, that's confirmed later on. We see Rey with the Jedi Texts we later see her able to use the Force to heal, assuming she learned from the books. We see more payoff of the Force Dyad setup in The Last Jedi. Even the most messy trilogy in the history of trilogies, knows what CHEKOV'S GUN IS and most importantly, how to PROPERLY USE IT. Here...not at all. And it's annoying asf. And the expectations of Clone Wars flashbacks, Cal Kestis or Cere are VERY reasonable ones to have-they aren't outlandish, or impossible like say having Hayden come back for the sequel trilogy that just seemed like a way too out there expectation. But here? With him being MARKETED as ANAKIN AND VADER? Foolish. Absolutely foolish to not utilize Hayden more. I'd be insulted.

@@ravenfal1496 Anakin was seen in ep 3 as a hallucination, that's a clear setup for him to either hallucinate more of Anakin which he never did, or CW flashbacks which we never got. Vader said that the consequences would be severe if Reva failed in capturing Obi-Wan. She failed. He did nothing. LITERALLY NOTHING. When he other media he's killed for less. There's a line where it's mentioned that no one has ever made it in to the fortress, it would've been a perfect setup for Cal Kestis to be mentioned or Cere to make a return but no. Like when Ben and Tala went to talk to the rebel people, it felt like we were missing a full introduction to all three of those characters, especially when one of their deaths was dwelt on for so long at the end of the episode, we just jumped right into talking about a plan. Then once they landed Ben went from sitting inside the ship to immediately being swimming underwater. Next, after Tala gets past the security guard, she is next seen sitting at a desk talking to Ben. Does someone normally work at that desk? Why is nobody else in that room questioning the fact that someone they have never seen before is sitting at one of the desks? Then after the guy confronts her, how did nobody notice her attack that guy? Why did nobody question her return to the desk after? What was Ben's cylinder thing that he used to open the door to the restricted area? Was the door just unlocked? Did he hack it? Did he get a code cylinder that had clearance? After Tala manages to somehow take out the two stormtroopers escorting her, she then just appears across the base right next to Ben and Leia. Then when they go to escape, why not return to the ship they came in? What happened to it? Overall I just felt like there was a ton of connecting tissue missing as each scene seemed very disconnected from the last

There is no way to make this fit into established movie cannon at this point. I don't see anyway for them to make this fit anymore. Vader knows in ANH that Obi-wan wasn't dead. Leia obviously doesn't know obi personally in ANH. Too many other inconsistencies along the way. Are we to believe vader is an idiot and wouldn't go after Leia again after this drew out obi wan? I tried to warn people the show was going to be more of the same :( I wish they would stop telling stories about fan favourites when they clearly don’t have the reverence or respect needed to actually make a good show that will portray the legacy characters correctly. I'd argue we are way beyond the fact they cannot portray legacy characters correctly : they cannot do a good show to begin with. Most problems in Obi-Wan Kenobi have no link to how they chose to portray said character : its just badly filmed and directed, some dialogues are strange, the music is forgettable... It's just a bad show to begin with.

I more specified the legacy characters because they did a great job in mando (but managed to undo it all in between seasons in TBOBF 🤦♂️) so clearly sometimes they can get it right, but between the sequels, solo, book of boba and kenobi it’s pretty obvious they should stay miles away from any legacy characters. It probably could have been forgiven if it weren't for the fact that everyone was on high alert BECAUSE OF THEM. I like the animated stuff but there is a certain amount of suspension of disbelief that usually isn't required in the live action shows, that is until book of boba fett, which was a weird uneven amalgamation of good and ridiculous story telling. And I think Obi-Wan is the worst offender of this child like story telling yet. Yeah there is drama, but it is a very naive style of drama, and that is what I think is so off putting to many people...hell, I probably wouldn't have noticed half my complaints if the show was done in the rebels style animation (half, som complaints are fundamental). It is infuriating that the empire is consistently shown to be so incompetent. Cal Kestis breaks into the Fortress Inquisitorius via THE SAME METHOD as Kenobi in this series. Which means that a jedi has breached the security of the same imperial "fortress", made a joke of internal security, stolen something, and broke back out TWICE BY THE EXACT SAME ENTRY METHOD. You'd THINK that the empire would learn something about the integrity of their security after the first time. It is also shown in Fallen Order that the Mustafar system (or at minimum, Nur) is protected by an Imperial blockade of several ISDs. Theres no way that a freighter snuck past the ISDs in orbit, or remain in atmosphere without fighters being scrambled. Even given that all of that happens, there's NO WAY that that cargo ship is fast enough to run an imperial blockade. Its so lazy.

If Vader wins then his comments about anticipating the fight and being better now than when they last met make no sense, and if Obi-Wan wins there's no way he just gets to chill on Tatooine. And if he seems to have died the Tarkin/Vader discussion doesn't make sense. If we were to give George Lucas a little credit here, maybe we could say some things about storm trooper armor. 1. The Empire, though it has tons of money and resources, is a bureaucracy in which the people on the bottom of the totem pole receive the fewest benefits and considerations. Storm Troopers are expendable, and are given the cheapest, most useless equipment and armor that the empire is capable of making/getting. The biggest part of their training focuses on blind obedience instead of practical fighting skills. 2. Because of #1, storm troopers are easily killed, so the second purpose of their armor is to dehumanize them. We can't see their faces, and their voices all sound alike. So we don't care how many are just killed.

Maybe Reva is the only one that knows about the connection between Organa and Kenobi? If she dies at the end, it might work. I guess the Grand Inquisitor should know, but he is still nowhere to be found. Although, if he comes back, maybe he just doesn’t see it as his place to hunt Kenobi? Thinking about it, Vader knows about Kenobi’s connection with Bail, so maybe there is a reason why Vader decides not to use Leia to draw Kenobi out? Or maybe he just sees it as a plan that has already failed? Maybe it’s because, assuming Kenobi beats Vader in their next duel, Vader uses the next few years to train even more, and then by the time he is ready to face Kenobi again, Leia is a Junior Senator, and the Emperor refused to allow Vader to cause an incident in the Senate. He has been show to care little about Vader’s hunt for Kenobi, so I think it could make sense. I think they could make it work, but it will be hard. On the note of the escape and tracking, she knew that Janna and Kenobi knew where the Path was, so she would be able to get it out of Janna. The tracker was a back up plan. And I’m guessing that what will even if they drop off Leia, either the droid will slip away and back onto the ship, or it has a tracker that it will plant. I don’t see the transport getting into the atmosphere as being that bad, as the Mantis was able to get there with relative ease. Maybe if it was closer together it would be less likely, but one minor infiltration in 10 years would likely mean that the security was sloppy at best, especially 5 years later. Same reason why they weren’t able to scramble Tie Fighters that fast. They weren’t fast enough to scramble fighters after the Mantis.

We've finished the first 4 episodes in this 6 episode series and we still don't know what Reva's connection is with Kenobi. She has been hunting him down relentlessly this entire time, deviating from her original mission, and even going as far as to kill her direct superior. She needs development but there are only two episodes left and Vader is a far more fleshed out character. Powerful, imposing, and directly related to Kenobi's story. Vader is a prime pick for a climactic battle to end things with. There seems to be no reason for Reva to exist within this narrative.

My question is do i really need to pay to see this? what's going to be so adventurous, twisted or mysterious about this show that we have to put Obi-wan as the protagonist? who is one of the most important characters in the saga. Because so far everything that looks like a couple of video game quests, especially in this episode, hasn't given me anything. It could be said that obi-wan is using force better ... But honestly I don't find it as a development, considering that before the existence of this show it never seemed like a problem to me, more than making me sorry it annoys me because that's all. useless and boring to see. As if, having no idea how to develop the character but trying to give a sense of emotional growth to this show, the writers simply decided to start Obi-wan's character by removing all the development and features already acquired from the prequels and consistently present in the OT, characteristics such as his oratory skills, the ability with the sword, the use of mental tricks etc ... To then show that the usual obi-wan we all know at the end of the show will return, ok ... a bit boring and lazy, but it might be okay ... I think. But I don't understand how these simple quests stimulate him to come back to himself, because if you really have to show me this mechanic of returning to the character at least let me see some twisted challenges, exciting fights, strong enemies, unique locations and interesting characters ... for now it is completely boring, if they had used another character instead of Obi-Wan it would have been justified and perhaps more pleasant, but it is like giving a top quality cut of meat to a vegan chef to cook it. Presumably Leia would have seen Reva do something to it and/or had it on her the entire time after Reva snatched it in the interrogation room. A ten second scene is all we needed to make this make more sense guys. C'mon, you can do better. Good point about Bail Organa. I was looking at the situation from the perspective of "well, they already know who Leia is and ultimately where she's going to end up, right?". I think the best way, which I know isn't going to happen, would be to have them send a signal to Bail/whoever to have a rendezvous somewhere in space much like in Rebels with Mon Mothma. They transfer Leia into the care of the Alderanians, the rest of them bounce. The tracker stays with her. Boom. Then I got to Thor's point about Bail and how this would arouse suspicion around him. I think tptb will be established to know for quite some time that both he & Mon Mothma are planning against them but are waiting for the right circumstances. Andor's trailer gives some hints at this with MM, Rebels had both Leia actively supplying rebel cells with materials (and under scrutiny) & MM essentially being a fugitive when she debuted, Vader wasn't having any of Leia's bs in ANH about a diplomatic mission, etc.

I was in the watch party with Star Wars theory last night, we did find out the writer is not familiar with canon or was aware at first obi wan knew Vader=anakin

Why would they hire an idiot who doesn’t know canon anywhere close to a script?

Kenobi wears a burlap sack. Kenobi swims a mile underwater. Kenobi jumps out of the water with his burlap sack. Kenobi and his clothes are bone dry. This show is meant for 8yr olds.

I haven’t had any issues believing in Obi-Wan’s character arc. When you look at the timeline this is set in, the trauma he went through (with additional possible Force-sensitive influences), and the severe isolation he’a been enduring, the portrayal of Obi-wan makes sense. I can look at the writing and Ewen’s performance and see a decade of being ground deeper into misery and depression. Leia is a delight in her portrayal, even if the character arc for her is struggling. I also don’t mind Reva and how Ingram is portraying her. I’m not connecting as well with her character but that’s mostly writing and a bit Ingram herself being very new to professional acting. Ingram is putting everything she has into this role and the areas where her lack of experience are highlighted by the many veteran actors surrounding her. The story is the biggest issue I’m having. The idea is good but I’ve gone from being excited to watch Kenobi to an attitude more akin to, “Well, I guess I’ll watch the episode now so I don’t get spoiled by media commentary”. Obi-wan being drawn out of seclusion and rededicating himself to the Jedi way is a great idea but it feels like they’re trying to do too much. Instead of keeping a narrow focus on Obi-wan and using just Vader as his pursuer, we’re also building up Leia and Reva’s stories. And that’s just too much for a mere 6-episode series. I’ve been delighted by the prequel-era tie-ins and my husband, a burnt out Star Wars fan, did comment in passing that he thought the set and costuming design was a good blend of the prequel and original eras. But the original era itself doesn’t feel like it’s getting much respect and that is quite disheartening. I’m planning to watch this through to its conclusion but my expectations have been greatly diminished, which is disappointing.

So now they've completely obliterated the continuity of Leia not knowing Obi-Wan in ANH and relying on Obi-Wan's knowing her father, not her. "You served my father in the clone wars." Leia did not know Obi-Wan. But now the (really dumb) argument that "She didn't know him as Obi-Wan, only as Ben!" is gone too because Reva referred to him as Obi-Wan. Also the fact that Leia was able to resist Reva's mind probe was hilarious. Yet this never gets relayed to Vader? And she goes on to become a representative in the Galactic Senate? Yeah sure okay.

On top of the fact that ... why does Bail even need to send Leia to Tatooine to bring him to Alderaan now at all? He has a direct line to OWK through the communicator used in the first episode. Couldn't he have just called Kenobi from Yavin as soon as he knew Leia had the plans?

What I thought was ridiculous is Reva has the force ability to read minds and she tries with Leia. However, when she questions Tala she doesn't think to use it to see whether she is a spy or not. So Reva only needed to use her mind trick, yet she doesn't use it while interigating who she thinks is a spy? Please, Disney, you need to better because this is terrible writing.

I hate that I'm not liking a show about Kenobi with Ewan MacGregor and Hayden Christensen in it. I'm just really underwhelmed by each episode. I just see it as glorified fan fiction at this point and it softens the blow. I will say, the line "I've been waiting for you Obi-Wan" can mean he's been waiting for him since he sensed him on the Death Star, though I'm starting to get annoyed with how loose they're playing with the Canon and the lines in that ANH. I don't want to keep going back and reinterpreting these lines to fit in a show I don't like nor fit in my own head canon at this point.

The writers of this show are ten year olds. They have no idea what they’re doing because of the simple fact that they made Vader look Obi Wan in the eyes and just let him go… And Obi Wan goes back to Tatooine to protect Luke… Yea Disney solid job hiring these writers and making one of the most beloved characters into a side character that doesn’t know what they’re doing. I’ve literally stated this in a comment in one of your videos but for this series to make sense Obi Wan needs a Neralyzer from MIB to erase everyone’s mind to think he’s dead or missing since Revenge of the Sith.

Two things: 1. Obi-Wan's lightsaber literally bounces off of a Stormtrooper 2. This "impenetrable fortresss" is flooded by a SINGLE blaster shot This show devours the brain cells of its viewers

OK CHECK IT OUT: I would like to make a few points here. I'm getting tired of the plot convenience of bluffing past security check points and being able to use any officer's code cylinder to get through certain doors. When I was in the military, years ago, I was very low in rank. Part of my job was to guard a secure room. No matter how high of a ranking officer approached me, they could not get in regardless of how many threats they made me unless they had the proper credentials. The Empire is not just ranked based, they have mentioned about proper areas and what not many times. So code cylinders would only work for the proper doors. Even my security badge now only works for certain doors in the hospital I go to every night. Also, the Empire runs on tight schedules. The crew of the Ghost used this against the Empire as did Han Solo when floating away with the rest of garbage. The Disney writers keep forgetting how efficient the Empire is. My other big concern is Leia. When Vader boarded Leia's ship in a New Hope, he was still concerned about optics towards the Senate by covering his tracks. He said Send a distress beacon and notify the Senate that all aboard were killed. Why would Vader be so laid back now knowing that baby Leia knows so much about their dealings. You would think he would stop at nothing to cover this stuff up seeing that she is a senators daughter and will run her mouth. I could go on and on...Hell maybe I need to make a video myself about these things...LOL. Love Thor Skywalker though!
