Early 40s. You will be ok, my advice is just take it easy and wear knee guards and MX boots as it's the fall you need to worry about as it can take more time to bounce back to riding after an injury.

Great start! Don't forget to hit the 'ABS on/off' button till 'off road' appears on the screen. Turns ABS off in the back, but also switches off traction control, which would really make climbs difficult on loose surfaces. Can't wait to see these here in Ireland.

Good on you for having a go offroad. A few points, you'll eventually stack it and that's OK,it's part of the learning curve and fun. When offroad you'll occasionally find yourself in stressful situations, they're only stressful because your skill set isn't where it needs to be in order to overcome them initially, that's ok too,it's how you learn. Go at your pace, be prepared for the worst and expect to fail at certain times, reflect on these experiences and build your confidence. Note, although tyres are important, and assuming you're using offroad oriented tyres, it's 80% rider and 20% bike/tyres.

Thanks for the tips! Yep it will be a challenging but fun time riding off-road and really looking forward to it. I've done 4x4 driving before but taking a motorcycle with one driving wheel off road is something that is a lot more difficult but a lot funner.

Those slippery tracks are exactly why the lighter ADV bikes make more sense. Just turning around a larger adv bike in those conditions is exponentially more difficult. The 450 MT is not just a better adv option than the monstrosities that everyone has made up till now, it is also the sharp edge into our acceptance of Chinese bikes. The Japanese and Euro manufacturers have held back on these despite the market screaming for them. Now that game is over.

Well done, that tack from the lookout is like ice down the bottom and can often be chewed up by 4wds. I had a horrible time trying to get out of there solo on the T7 with I had the stock tyres on. As for the other track, I've ridden past it countless times but never gone for a look down it so pretty keen to see now. Good to start working on getting comfortable standing over the rough stuff, knees and elbow slightly bent and let be bike move under you a bit.

Not sure the track goes anywhere or just comes to a dead end but it is something different. Thanks for the standing up tip and I'm so glad I didn't keep going down that slippery slope at the start now!

Ignore the bad comments. If you don’t know how important ABS is you won’t understand how to use it. It’s not a bad thing. When off roading turn off your ABS or by turning on off-road mode and it will be a whole new experience. Once you become competent at trail riding, riding on the roads in the rain becomes much safer as you’ll learn what it will feel like to lose the back and front end even with ABS ON and know how to correct it safely. FOCUS ON TRIAL RIDING, YOU WILL FALL, BUT YOU WILL LEARN

Good advice. I finished my first two hour session this afternoon of a 'Returning Rider' course with CycleRight on their bike. Even though I had years of experience on and off road it has been some time. Times and bikes have changed. Instructor was excellent and knew what I needed. It was worth every cent. I'll do at least one follow up session and then add an off road session as a bare minimum. It felt so good.

is it me or when you start to release the clutch and give it some power the speedo spikes to like 25 kmph and then drops back down? That was a surprise!!

It was because the back wheel was spinning in the slippery mud. Had no traction on that first slope. It's a lot steeper but it doesn't look it on the wide angle camera lens.

How are you recording your voice and motorcycle sound while driving, do you connect your camera to your helmet comms? or some other way? It'd be great to see a video about your helmet and camera setup to see how you get it all recorded, also that doesn't look like a GoPro, so keen to hear your opinions on that white/grey camera :)b

Sony action camera. Microphone is just plugged into its 3.5mm microphone input. Only downside is that they made the sound levels too high in the camera so it distorts easily. I've ordered a volume adaptor cable for it so will see if that makes the sound even better. Microphone is a Sony ECM-LV1. I'll make a video once I've got the sound sorted so that way people can replicate the setup.

@outie5555 ай бұрын
Ok, so what you have to realise is that KZbin will down scale your videos bitrate if you upload it as 1080. So it's best to render your video as 4k so KZbin allows a higher bitrate. I use Magix movie pro. Basic program and there are better ones out there, but it's simple to use so I have stick with it. I record at 60fps 1080. With the highest bitrate the camera will do.
