Fun fact: While Glenn's "Good Luck Dumbass" was a ploy to get you to think he was going to die by calling back to his first interaction with Rick, you'll notice that Glenn never has an on screen conversation with Rick after he returns from Dumpstergate. This makes "Good Luck, Dumbass" still be the last thing Glenn ever says to Rick on screen before his death in 701.

Here's something minor I remember people speculating about during S6's airing, it regards that "Rick Solo" moment you like. There were some people, a small group of people mind you, that began to theorize that Rick slicing his hand with the knife he pulls from the walker would infect him. Ergo, they claimed that would be the catalyst for him to finally lose his hand in the show. Or even that he would be revealed to be immune, as insanely out-there as that would be. Obviously that didn't happen, but I was just reminded of the few posts about it I saw back in the day thanks to you spotlighting it haha.

Seasons 6 was one of my favorites when rewatching and I think it got a disappointing reception after seasons 5's iffy writing. The cinematography and overall introduction to the bigger world around Alexandria was great, until those other communities and their characters stopped mattering (rip the potential of jesus/dianna/and basically any of the oceanside folks)

I remember when my friends and I were theorizing who Negan killed at the end of season 6 and I was like "It can't be Glenn, they already faked killed him off just a few episodes ago, to really kill him off would be so stupid" and when he did die, I hated it so much.

Wow I like everything about this. As someone who’s followed the series from the beginning, though not quite as rigidly on the extracurriculars, it’s everything I ever wanted out of a KZbin walking dead channel. The Glenn dumpster reveal wasn't too bad in itself, it was a big fake-out to people who knew about Glenn's comic storyline and a nice wrap-up for Nicolas. Also comics aside Glenn was a huge fan favorite so I'm not opposed to the show scaring the audience like that from time to time, in fact I kinda like it because not only is it a scare it's also a subtle "we know who y'all are rooting for and we *will* fuck with them." The issue was they kept using a dumpster reveal-like scare over and over and over again that now looking back on a moment that was arguably okay at the time...it just feels cheap now after we saw it reused and not to a good effect like Glenn's. Also didn't age well that ten episodes later Negan showed up.

bruh. it's still a dirty move and a cheap way of getting people invested in the show again. it doesn't work as a reference to glenn's death in the books, cuz they're going to adapt that anyway. plus, not answering that in the next episode it's dreadful to say the least. shows like these should only have like 11 episodes per season. season 7 has like 6 episodes that shouldn't be there. instead, we have a boring-ass episode with morgan learning the peace and how to use a bō (michonne's katana was my limit, wtf is that). why? cuz we have to make the "character who doesn't want to kill" trope again, so we can have morgan hiding a psycopath who was dismembering children a few days ago from the rest of the group, and then have him _obviously_ betray him and kidnap another character, just to add more unnecessary tension. season 6 was the beggining of the end.

The "let me in little pigs" comes from a fable of the early 1800s called "The Three Little Pigs". It is the wolf who is saying that, so I guess it was the inspiration for the name of the group in the tv series.

Season 6 is so underrated in my opinion, I hate that people tend to lump it into one of the “bad” seasons like 7 and 8. I 1000% believe the show’s build up to No Way Out was better than the comics. The Scavengers in the comics are such a weird group to me because they are such generic bandits that die almost immediately after metting the group lol, and the thing that lured the walkers over is all the gunfire. Despite not being super developed, the Wolves are a much better, more interesting counterpart that spiced things up and gave us JSS (amazing episode). Though I do agree that the snowfall in No Way Out adds a very cool element to the story! The dumpster incident…mixed feelings about it. Definitely a bit of a questionable choice to make Glenn seem like he died there (fakeout deaths themselves arent bad, but they straight up made him look like he got DEVOURED) just to bring him back a few episodes later…and then have him die forreal 10 episodes later lol. I will say though, people let the dumpster scene overshawdow 6x03 as a whole. That episode was pretty solid imo! Having the zombies on full display as a threat (despite people complaining about them not being as important) and Rick finishing off the Wolves like a beast were awesome. Another great video!

When i watched season 6 episode 1 in black and white, my netflix bugged out and had sound effects and music but NOT dialogue. So we watched the entire first episode very confused, thinking it was some kind of one off. But by the next episode it was still like that, so we reset and fixed the audio

The reason you start to see more wide aerial shots in these later seasons is more likely due to the emergence of drone videography, which when compared to traditional aerial videography, costs pennies on the dollar. But the ultimate effect remains the same and I like your analysis of that effect.

I remember so many people knew Glenn didn’t die because I think either when episode 4 or 5 aired, the was an article stating reasons why he was alive. The main reason being none of the other characters weren’t around to witness his so called “Demise” so that would be a loose end they couldn’t properly resolve because they wouldn’t know where to look and even if they found the area they wouldn’t be able to identify his body since it would be far beyond recognition. On a side note I legit thought that’s how they were going to introduce Jesus in the show, with Glenn trapped under the dumpster he would use firecrackers like he did with Rick and Daryl to lure them away and then pull Glenn out from underneath the dumpster and help him recover and then head to Alexandria

The Dumpster Incident, specifically the reveal that Glenn survived miraculously, is when I originally stopped watching the show. Which is why I am now watching these videos in May '24 because I finally went back, rewatched up to this point and finally finished the show. In retrospect, as dumb as it was, I regret having stopped. These videos help letting me live vicariously through fan reactions of the time. I have continued shouting at my TV during later seasons, but it's all compelling enough to see it through.

Season 6A was alright, but could have been better. There were far too few scenes between Rick and Morgan. I would have loved to see some Rick vs. Morgan scenes, but instead we got Morgan vs. Carol. The black and white filter in the first episode didn't do it for me. Firstly, because such a filter had never been used before (and was never used again), and secondly, because for me it kinda ruined Rick and Morgan getting to know each other again. I prefered The Wolves over The Scavengers, but unfortunately The Wolves did not live up to the hype they created in Season 5B. They were killed off immediately and the lead Wolf sadly did not do much with his time left. One other thing the show did well in my opinion was the introduction of Dwight. Him (without his burns) and Sherry fleeing from The Saviors would be a great contrast with his return later in the season. FInally, Dumpster Gate... Yeah, it was just bad.

In hindsight it seems not very significant. But I've always hated the when shows go for "shock value" and multiple episode suspense. I remember watching it week by week and was frustrated after every episode. I prefer shows where the focus is on "what happens next" or "how how will the characters be forced to react". I strongly dislike waiting multiple episodes to find out if something did or did not happen, especially a character death.

I remember when the Glenn dumpster ep first aired. I was watching w/ my best friend and dad and my best friend who was a huge Glenn fan was like no way there’s no way Glenn’s dead and then he accepted it and then in my mind. I was like nah Glenn’s not dead and I even told him that and he was like bruh Glenn’s not getting out of that he got torn apart by all those walkers. My friend stopped watching until he came back over during my winter break and I record all the episodes so I caught him up and he was like what’s the point Glenn’s dead so this show is not good anymore then when he saw Glenn used Nicholas body as a shield in 6x07 and survived he was over the moon.

In order to keep people engaged you need to keep some characters alive to keep that engagement, and in this context that was glenn.

Back then I told everyone Glenn wasn’t dead only because I knew what was to come in the comics. I was happy to tell everyone I was right but I did feel a certain way about the fake out death. I thought to myself why? After watching the season again in prep for this video the only answer I can think of is that they did it to further the character of Maggie. I havent finished my rewatch of S7 yet(Netflix sub ran out) but I’m sure she takes his death hard and probably mentions how she just thought she lost him and got him back or something. This could also be a fucked up callback to her finding out Beth was alive just to arrive to find her dead but yknow. Either way I still didn’t really mind the fake out until you mentioned that fresh blood would attract walkers! I also would have just liked to see Glenn succeeding in burning down the building despite Nicholas’ death but what we got was pretty ok and they did leave him out for a few weeks to really try and trick the audience. I do wonder if his name was taken out the opening credits though lol. Anyway great video as always and I can’t wait to give my thoughts on No Way Out!

Morgan's pacifist creed and letting the mass murderers walk away made me irrationally angry this season. I was actually rooting for someone to kill Morgan. People like him with his rigid morality don't work in this post-apocalyptic society and his actions will cause others to get killed. He became literally the worst character in my eyes after he let those 5 wolves escape and they could have killed Rick. I'll never forgive him for that. What does he have to be so extreme? It's either kill everything or kill nothing for him. I hate him.

What sucks is that the story line being adapted in season 6 was one of my favorites in the comics (No Way Out-Something to Fear) but this was also when I started to fall off the show mainly because of how the latter half of the season and finale were handled.

@@jjkilhij9531 for me it’s several reasons. Not as a whole but some glaring issues it had. Not saying 6A didn’t have them. - Richonne I never liked. From S3-6 I saw Rick and Michonne as just friends and never really saw any romantic relationship between them. Them being together doesn’t really add anything. Their relationship was already at their peak in early S5. Or I described it, it would feel as weird if Carol and Daryl were in a relationship. - 6B extends my loathing of the Sasha-Abraham relationship as it was forced and made little sense. - Episode 14 was just… bad. The whole storyline with Denise felt forced and outa place. - This is when Daryl starts to become bad. Cough punching Negan cough and him blindly trying to hunt down Dwight over Denise. Like if this was Tyreese who died I could get his outburst as they have history but Denise and Daryl have more of an acquaintance relationship. Which also makes the following 2 seasons about Daryl and Tara trying to get revenge for her makes me groan. - The killing off the cameraman of course.

@@ryanelliott71698 Daryl wasn't necessarily hunting FOR Denise. But rather because he let the bastard live and get away and he came back and did that with his crossbow. That made complete sense to me. And establishes Daryl and Dwight's conflict which the show had to set up. Richonne has arguably been set up sense Season 4 because of Andreas death. The show had to make it up somehow. And Michonne post Prison has been far closer to Rick and Carl than her comic part. Its also bit ridiculous to harm the entire half for that reason. Abraham and Sasha is definitely problematic and was forced to put Sasha as a mourner from a death.

I actually like the idea of the Alexandria civil war. I guess we saw some Alexandrians against Rick in the first episode but other than that we don't get anything. It would make sense for there to be people against Rick's brutality. Of course, we know that it's necessary. But they have been sheltered Since the start.
