Eddie 'Mush' was a real guy that Palmenteri knew from his old neighborhood, and couldn't pick a winner to save his life. They had difficulty casting the role, so they just went back a got the real Eddie to play himself. He's not an actor, but you wouldn't know it.

"Eddie Mush" was the best character in the film. Palmenteri Tells some great stories about the actor who Played Eddie Mush. First one was, De Niro wanted to meet "Mush" during casting auditions at 12pm. 'Mush" says that he cant make 12pm as he has to go back his horses" Di Neiro said "He's our Guy" The second story He tells was that "Mush" Died about 12 years ago, and when they were bringing his coffin out to load in to the Hearse, the Hearse had a Flat tyre. A Bronx tale was one of the best Films ever made.

I had $1100 on the Lakers tonight, minus 10.5 against Houston. With just over 9 minutes to go in the 4th quarter, the Lakers were up 28. What followed was a 29-11 Houston run... No, a front runner that goes wire wins around 30% of the time. The first 3 horses win about 70% of the time. This happens to me once in a while with this one person at a satellite wagering center . Funny as hell in the movies but, a real life losing nightmare . Unbelievable true story. Originally Palmatari wanted race called the way the announcer who called race there in 1968 called them. Larry Lederman who did the call for the movie, could imitate him, but told Chazz and DeNiro, Capacelli would have never said what was in the script. So they told him to call it the way he would at Atlantic City Racetrack, GSP or Freehold. Needless to say, Larry got the job
