The other day I told my grandson that I was going to say my rosary, he’s 5 by the way…he was ready to go up to bed, I said do you want to say the rosary with me he said no, no thanks. I said are you sure? Yeah…I go, you know Mary asked us to pray a rosary every day, without a pause he said oh ok, then I will. A little guy who usually can’t sit still sat right tight next to me and moved his little fingers down every bead!!! Wow I was in awe! ❤️

Ralph Martin is one of he most trusted Catholic apologists/teachers/leaders etc. Truly a Christ-like man. I think he’s without a doubt one of the most balanced teachers we have. He’s bold and also loving and holds the truth above everything. Ralph Martin is definitely clear! Love the conversation! Thanks for having him on Matt.

Matt, absolutely correct about needing to go to battle with our ego in the sacrament of confession. That sacrament has been true medicine for my soul. I just made a deeper conversion this past year and have committed to being in a state of Grace when receiving the Eucharist. I go to confession regularly and have truly come to “ hate sin. I recognize it as the eternal enemy now. I have eliminated my grave sins, but I have also greatly reduced my instances of habitual venial sin, because I am constantly reminding myself of the Eucharist and of the need for reconciliation. I am long from perfect or even good, but I am working towards it and I am separating from my previous 40+ years of habitual sinning. God bless you!

Nuns laughing at the St. Michael's Prayer unsettled me more than any horror movie I've ever seen. The original long form version by Pope Leo XIII was instrumental in bringing me back to the Church. I am of course familiar with the short form, but the long form had me weeping, right after the part about the "throne." It hit me right in my gut. The battle for souls is real.

@@dottieryan5574 Amen. When he said almost at the end the story that the lady after converting was smashing the images of Buda, same needs to be done in the Vatican and also removed evil pieces that are saved in their basement from other gods around the world. I never understood the emphasis that charismatic churches put on believers and that that they need to speak in tongues, even thou the Bible is clear that it is the smallest gift and that Abba gives to anyone different gifts. Sometimes more than one, but it doesn’t mean that it is tongue plus another gift. Also believers need to be wise because there is also people that are faking it, or receiving demonic languages. 1 Corinthians 14:1-40 1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. 2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. 3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. 4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. 5 I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying. 6 Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine? 7 And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? 8 For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle? 9 So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air. 10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification. 11 Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me. 12 Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church. 13 Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret. 14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. 15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. 16 Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest? 17 For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified. 18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all: 19 Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue. 20 Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men. 21 In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord. 22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe. 23 If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad? 24 But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all: 25 And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth. 26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying. 27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. 28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God. 29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. 30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace. 31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted. 32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. 33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. 34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. 35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. 36 What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only? 37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. 38 But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant. 39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues. 40 Let all things be done decently and in order. We need to bring our fears to Abba and confess to Him and to your brothers and sisters when you have done wrong to them, not to just go and confess to a priest( in old days and could still now, some were even spies). Abba died once for our sins and all we need to do is repent, pick up your cross every day renew your mind every day in is word( no books that talk about the bible or theologians books), also said that what you learn in the Bible to go and do( not be iddle) and spread the good news. Always remember the thief that was dying next to Our Emmanuel, the answer to him was that he was going to be with him in paradise that day, no after baptism or after the church prayed for 9 days to move from purgatory. John3:16- Jesus christ is the only way.

Bless you, Dr Ralph Martin! yes, because you offered most of your life to walk in the Spirit, you are perceiving in the Spirit! I remember in 1993, you were visiting Poland also my back then city of Zielona Gora. It must have been some time in April. My husband, for whom I prayed for over 4 years and whom with the Holy Spirit we succeed to get him to come to the Billy Graham satellite evangelistic three meetings ( there was a satellite famous evangelisation for the whole Europe), and who came forward on the march 21 in last of those meetings to receive Christ, was still as independent and stubborn as you can be. And then we learn about a charismatic meeting in a close by Catholic Church and my husband went there I think only with the purpose to fight the Catholic Church. And this was a wonderful, filled with the Spirit meeting, and you Dr Ralph were the preacher. Something like a breakthrough has happened to my husband, Vitold there. From this day on was different with him, and later the Holy Spirit came upon him in the end of May, with all the fullness of Baptism and gift of tongues. Good that the catholic Church still has voices and hearts like your, Dr Ralph Martin

This comment is for Matt Frad about prayers and healing… I was mostly wheelchair bound before January this year. Had the oil of St. Charbel, drank blessed water, but about a week and a half after all that was still in a wheelchair as I didn’t expect to be healed more than spiritually. Well then the Season 3 episode 6 if The Chosen came out, and within that episode was a reminder that you must ask with belief and you may receive. So during the episode, while a character that had seen Christ often but hadn’t been healed until that moment when she was brought to Him by a friend… I realized that I hadn’t asked myself. So I prayed… I told GID that if He healed me I would accept that, and that if He didn’t heal me then I would accept that as well… the it’s HIS will and I would accept what HIS decision is for me because He knows what is best. After the prayer, I got a thought that was odd which said without words point your toes. And I did so although I was puzzled… and both my feet pointed to a near en pointe ballet point, equal to each other. Well my left side was injured in an industrial accident and the spine got damaged, and so I hadn’t been able to point my left foot for about three years! My point is, GOD is Glorious! Prayers do work, far more than any of us realize it. From that day on I haven’t needed my wheelchair once, despite I had been using one since July-August of 2020. Since that day this January I don’t need it. Now I still have pain, as GOD may have decided that is best as it can be given up to HIM to convert and help others (I’m still not sure how exactly that works), but He was so gracious to give me about a whole week and half or so pain-free while I started walking again and getting use to getting back out. Just thinking about the difference from the day before that prayer to that night and everyday afterwards makes me cry tears of joy, because it change my world. So prayer more than works… but we have to truly believe and we have to accept what GOD knows is best over what we want as well. When your faith aligns with GOD’s will, miracles happen, and GOD increases your faith and the faith of those around you, for HIS Great Glory. So do pray for others and do it with great belief and faith that GOD will do what is best, and we need to accept that and be grateful. May GOD bless you all and have mercy on all of us.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Sister Lucia before her death in a last interview was asked “ Will the whole world be Communist?” She said “ Yes!” The interviewer asked her “ Even the United States?” She said “ Yes!” People need to pray and do sacrifices for the poor souls going to Hell because no one is praying or sacrificing for them, but people should pray for the Holy souls in Purgatory especially the poor Holy souls forgotten about. Souls who no one is praying for. A person can also do sacrifices for these souls also. The Saint Gertrude Prayer is beautiful. A person can pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet daily for the United States. That person will be helping the guardian angel assigned to America. A person can also pray that The Holy father consecrate Russia to Our Blessed Mother’s Immaculate Heart in conjunction with all the Bishops throughout the world. Our Lady promised us Russia’s conversion and a temporary peace on the earth.

Ralph Martin’s two books on the Crisis in the Church are very revealing. The collection of lectures, letters and essays of Absp. Carlo Maria Vigano, in the book, A Voice in the Wilderness, edited by Bran McCall s a must read forCatholcs and non Catholics alike as it addresses the Church, the world, and the United States in particular where the Absp.served as the Papal Nuncio for a number of years until Pope Francs’ visit to speak in front of Congress in 2014.

Charismatic Renewal - I am glad you touched upon this topic. Back in the mid-1980s or so as a 9-year-old, I witnessed this CR while visiting a local historic parish near my hometown. I watched, as I remembered, a Catholic priest performed the laying of hands on people, and the people being helped to lay down. As a 9 year old I was a little frightened by that scene. I thought these people were fainting or something. Now I understand. I don't know whether I agree with the practice as a Catholic - but I do know that they weren't doing that anymore in the aforementioned parish the next time we went a few months later.

From 11:52, Ralph may have meant the president of Argentina, Alberto Fernandez. Fernández successfully championed/ pushed through a bill that legalized abortion. When the law passed he tweeted, " “Safe, legal and free abortion is now law … Today we are a better society,” Also, "I'm Catholic but I have to legislate for everyone." Reminds me of another so-called Catholic president. On Jan. 31, 2020 Fernández visited the Vatican with his live-in girlfriend, Fabiola Yanez, where they first attended a specially arranged mass at the tomb of St. Peter, in the crypt under St. Peter’s basilica celebrated by Archbishop Sánchez Sorondo, the chancellor of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences. The president and his mistress received Holy Communion from Archbishop Sorondo. After that they had their private audience with the Pope. That is not just "accompanying", that is pure privilege, a rare honor in the eyes of the world that few of us will ever experience. The Pope very warmly met the lovely couple, compared to his meeting with Trump. Pope Francis of course famously and quite harshly cast doubt on whether Trump was a real Christian - choosing to deny Trump the benefit of his "Who am I to judge?" approach. The Pope has met president Fernandez twice. He's had a private audience with Fr. James Martin SJ (advocate of the LGBTQ community), but has no time to meet or respond to the Dubia cardinals or Cardinal Zen of China. As we can see, Biden wasn't the first abortion-pushing "Catholic" president so warmly embraced and permitted communion by Pope Francis, so why should we doubt Biden that the Pope called him a good Catholic whom he encouraged to continue receiving Communion? With Pope Francis, the behaviour is the message.

"With Pope (X), the behavior is the message." Nope. Not really, (starting with Peter). The behavior can be criticized, as Paul called out Peter publically for not practicing what he preached (see Galatians, and Acts 15), but Paul continued to recognize Peter as the "Rock", "Cephas". So should we.

Mr. Fradd, you do such a beautiful job here of guiding such a meaningful and rich spiritual discussion. Ralph Martin offers truthful teaching and insight for all of us. However, there is one area of departure that it seems worth offering. Mr. Martin mentions his discomfort with Bishop Strickland bringing the shots into the dialogue. While he is wise to point out the danger of letting " secondary topics" distract us from the important spiritual issues, it is the Church that has contributed to making this become a primary issue by allowing churches to deny Mass and separate people. it is to Bishop Schneider's credit that he is willing to speak on an issue with such terrible potential in the direction this is heading across the world. When churches are separating and dividing believers as to whether they have received them, there is something terribly wrong. When else would a medical issue ever create such circumstances? Do we separate out people with differing medical choices in any other situation? Of course, we would not. Will the Church turn its back on the faithful who are declining these shots, possibly even denying them sacraments? We pray not. But we can see that the Church is not defending the God-given liberties of its believers, not supporting religious exemptions and not yet speaking up against the pushing of these mandates on children. There is no luxury to gloss over this issue or refer to it as secondary. Isn't it the role of the shepherds to defend the flock? Many feel abandoned by the Church in this increasing crisis. The evil that Bishop Schneider refers to in this situation is, in part, due to these circumstances. I hope that Mr. Martin, who is such a gift to the faithful, will reconsider his assessment on this and take in the bigger picture. Bishop Schneider has been a voice for many conscientiously objecting to mandates against their liberties. There are many who are grateful and thirsting for more moral courage from our leadership.

I’m Protestant and I find it interesting that your guest claims Protestant do not know about being saved by grace. This is completely false. I’m a born again Christian saved by the grace of god and not by works. Many protestants think Catholics believe they are saved by works. So listening to this has been very interesting. There are errs on both sides where the church leadership has failed the people. So it’s wonderful to hear this guest speak so truthfully about Jesus and the reason he came to earth. He came to save sinners and will come back again to judge the world. Jesus is everything! Thank you for this excellent interview.

Regarding Bishop Barron, I like the approach you took. I believe Barron is orthodox. And it seems that he is trying to find his place in the spectrum of HOW we present the one true, only, unchanging revelation of the gospel... However, I share your desire that sometimes he might be willing to actually "pull the trigger"... Matt I know you’re not probably going to read this but in case someone is out there who is reading this I heard you say you pray for people but you don’t believe they’ll really be healed. This is the problem we need to have faith that they will be healed. We need to pray like this: That whatever we pray for has already been done before we even started to say a prayer we need to put our entire heart mind and soul and faith into what we pray. And with that hope many will be healed and we need to be thankful that we can pray for anyone to be healed. I don’t know how much my prayers help others but I believe every prayer that I say brings some form of healing maybe not in a complete healing but at a minimum they will be strengthened through my prayers. It is about God‘s will not mine perhaps their illness or disability has a purpose that we do not understand and this would be why they are not healed. I’m not saying God is saying no to a particular healing but this sometimes even way through or praying need lessons to grow from to be better spiritual people. Jesus I trust in you.

I think Bishop Barron is slowly recognizing the cultural rot and its effect on souls that you are talking about. His videos seem to be getting more and more direct on the issues. Charitably, I think he believes he is meeting people where they are and trying to draw them in (“catch more flies with honey”). It may be misguided, but I think that is his approach. Despite this, I know of many people who have come home and are faithful Catholics now based on his videos and talks. We must first recognize the good before focusing on the failing. And, by the way, his rosary videos are beautiful. I have cried many times listening to him talk about what Christ has done for us in his discussion of the mysteries.

St. Francis de Sales tells us; You can catch more flies with a spoonful of honey then with a barrel full of vinegar. But if the figurative flies have a tendency to imitate the literal and remain sluggish and content in the honey then the only course left is to let the honey be absorbed by the vinegar.
