@@faraam7035 Canadian healthcare is underwhelming tbh. I am Canadian and I've had friends wait for half a year to have an MRI scan for various cancers. A very basic free healthcare system where you pay to get any "additional" healthcare (rare/serious conditions) seems to be most ideal to me.

If the railways/water/gas/electric/airlines were nationalised the govt could shut them down. If they were privatised they could just order them to shut down or use the army to force them to shut down. So no. Socialism doesn’t make you any more vulnerable to being murdered by your government in some frenzied massacre... 🙄 In the meantime, you’ll get free healthcare, better education and fewer homeless people whilst your billionaires pay a bit more tax.

It wasnt the conservative but the libertarian. Libertarianism believes truly in capitalism and individual liberties as the main form of society development without the need of the government. The anarchist look for the abolishment of the government and believes in the social organization as the right way to live, where everyone is equal no matter they believes. The difference between an anarchist and a socialist is that socialism not necesary abolish goverment, but this is ruled by and for the common and worker people, not as a jerarchy and pyramidal system.

Sex is what you meant with biologically and even with sex there are three actually: Male, Female and Intersex Gender is what people identify as, so it is a social construct. Conservatism is a on a social scale, neutral on most other scales, so it’s really up to the individual to decide if they want more authoritarian control over specific aspects. A lot of people who say they’re conservative would actually fall better into other categories, but in general people are to lazy to research such categories. I myself am a moderate left accelerationist because i Believe we should reap the benefits of capitalism to make a socialist utopia, but literally nobody knows what “moderate left accelerationist” means. Pretty sure most people assume accelerationism is a far right ideology but they couldn’t be more wrong lol, classical accelerationism is left wing, wanting to accelerate capitalism to it’s eventual downfall. I don’t think he’s necessarily coming from a bad place, but I’ve always had this idea about normalcy and how it relates distantly to psychological ideology. To me, normalcy is not intrinsically desirable; it is only desirable when it serves a purpose that is better than the alternative. This is a very vague, broad idea, but it rings true for many many things, really. That which is standard could have some benefits, but if its only benefit is that it is familiar, you might as well try something new or different.

I gotta say I'm disappointed in the selection here and the omission/exclusion of a liberal or progressive to serve as the counterpart to the conservative. The video gave me the impression that the opposite of conservative is socialist. @@savannahkrupa4424 socialism is a collectivist society often known as utopian socialism, and was invented by Henri de Saint-Simon (look it up its actually very interesting). Over the past few years in the US, socialism has become a overarching term for anything that involves social support. This is actually a social democracy, where the democratic system of our government/elections are still in place but there are measures like housing for the homeless, universal health care, etc. Pure socialism always eventually fails, usually from the society running out of money. Democratic socialism, however, is what is used in Nordic countries like Norway.

@@Emily-hy8hh i think you’re almost right. Socialism is a form of economy, directly opposed to capitalism, in the same line as communism. They’re pretty interchangeable, but communism tends to be thought of as more authoritarian than socialism is. Most countries are very capitalist, with only specific industries having socialist aspects and benefits for lower class peoples (such as free healthcare, but still having a healthcare industry so you can pay if you need something done faster or better).

@James Curley I never said she didn't have the odds stacked against her, and I was not inferring anything. She did not give any examples of what these odds were and I simply made two observations that showed aspects in where she IS privileged. I would never assume someone's sexual orientation, though if she is not straight perhaps this is one of the odds she was talking about. Or perhaps she has a physical disability that we can not see. Regardless, from my experience when white conservative people say they had the odds stacked against them they often do not consider the privileges that they do have be it white/cis/straight/able-bodied/financial security/etc. and as a white person who is privileged in many ways but also disadvantaged in many others, I think it is important to consider both the good and the bad cards that we have been dealt. But please, continue making negative assumptions about me.

@@charlottepotato7452 🙄 didn't happen for england. imagine scotland and wales, right next to us being taken care of with free medicine, which is what labour wanted, and instead conservatives won and raised the prices. even more than that, in a health pandemic, how they handled corona this year and run the country poorly for people who are majorly working or lower class, because they won't raise wages or raise taxes on the stupidly rich, which is what labour would have done, because conservatives, the same as donald trump have only ever decreased taxes on the richest. but the point is, if the votes from lib dems + SNP had been given to labour, it would've made the difference for labour to win. legit, conservative won 13M votes to Labour 10M. SNP + Lib Dems made up 4M votes. So yeah, the vote is wasted on voting smaller parties when you know your vote is needed for actual change to the party in power. Ordinarily, yes, of course your vote should go to who you think reflects your values the strongest, but not when there is such contrast between the two most popular opposing parties, and it comes down to who reflects your values the most out of those two. Because otherwise you're setting everyone up for failure in a system that's already against us.

There are plenty of Christian Socialists around, including Catholics. Even Pope Francis admits that the Marxists are more Christian like. When it comes to social beliefs, Christianity is very close to Socialism. Reagan Youth (American Punk Band) made a song called Jesus was a Communist. Alright dummies: -Anarchists are a kind of socialist or communist, and they are the only libertarians. -American style Libertarians are stealing a term for their radical version of classical liberalism. Dejacque was a communist. -Socialists are a diverse group which includes Marxists, anarchists, Leninists, and others. -Moderates are centrist liberals except American ones are center right liberals (by world standards) -Conservatives are right wing liberals, except in USA they are sort of extreme neo liberal statists. Side note: anarchists believe in government, but not the state, a shitty semantic problem, basically they believe in direct democracy as do communists but anarchists think the state can not be used to get there. Side note 2: abstract dictionary definitions are always warped if not embedded in the actual history and context.
