It would be interesting to know what that building with highway grid is going to be used for. Heavy equipment I assume?

SOUP - or - Fresh corn off the cob corn chowder made with lots of heavy cream, butter, few small diced potatoes, diced clams, clam juice, rendered bacon and a very light sprinkle of shredded carrots, eaten with fresh baked bread or rolls for dipping! Slice fresh corn from cobs when in season, freeze in zip lock bags for chowder year round. 💋 Expensive and very rich, only a few thousand calories per bowl...don't get any better than that! 👀

I would imagine the weather has a lot to do with the grumpiness. It didn't look very muddy, but still cold and wet days I always disliked. Cold as crap, is ok, but cold and wet, no thank you. Once there was a small piece of 2x4 laying on the floor under the flatbed loading shed. I didn't see it. It was a cold wet day. The 12k pound steel 96" reel of fiber optic cable I had on the end of the forks as I approached the flatbed trailer, blocked my vision of the 2x4 laying there. My forks were wet and the reel was damp. I was raising the reel as I drove forward. The forklift's solid rubber tires ran up on the 2x4 and dropped off. The reel started sliding forward. I quickly started lowering the forks, but was not fast enough. It hit the cement floor with a huge kathug, kabam!! I was moving forward so was the reel when it hit the floor, so it continued and fell flat on the floor. Now that was such a powerful KaBam, that people inside the warehouse felt it. I managed to get it picked up without damaging the cable, but the reel was a lost cause. I took it in to the respooler and he put it on a new reel. I had to do an accident report. The cause I put down was wet steel and a block of wood I couldn't see. I think the 96 inch steel reels cost the company nearly 2k each. It was sent to the company we got them from and they cut the flanges off and reused the drum, so the replacement reel was a little cheaper than a new one. But, cold rainy days, I never liked. Today, I'm so happy I no longer have to get out there and work!!! I love retirement. Sorry for such a long story, but I instantly felt the feel of the day at the very start of your video. A man can sit on a log, in 4 feet of snow with the wind blowing, waiting on a deer and be perfectly comfortable. But the second it begins raining ---- time to call it a day. The two don't mix. No amount of clothing can make it comfortable. So the crew today, naturally felt it. It sucks. But the work has to be done! So, the grumpiness is a natural attitude to have on a cold, damp day. Only quitting time can relieve that attitude. Sorry for your eye accident. I bet the cement did burn a lot. Hope it heals quickly. At my work for 35 years, Safety glasses were required inside and outside, always. A rule that could get one fired for disobeying. Thanks for sharing.👍❤🙏

Peace soup. Goya or other brand green split peace soaking all day in pot. Drain off water and rinse. Add what ever amount of New water that package says. Small ham steak add to pot cut up small pieces. Bring to boil then temper off to simmer. Can stay that way till peas have completely broken down, several hours. Serve with crusty croutons. Yum!

Our favorite was born of economics: Just starting our married life together we invented what we call ‘dump soup;’ all the leftovers get dumped into the pot. Never the same twice. Kids love it and now practice that with their families. Usually some left over beef, green beans, corn and then whatever. Chicken version is also good. Beets and tomatoes don’t work in this instance. Going on 52 years, still dumping soup. :

Vegetable soup without reservation. Start with a 5lb chuck roast plus at least 1 lb. of beef bones. Put this in a slow cooker and forget it. After all day, strain the ambrosia through a collander getting all the bones, and whatever out. Shred the beef and taste as needed to verify tenderness and flavor 😂😂. Then put into 2 pots of equal amounts. I always plan on 1 and by the end it's grown to 2, so why fight it. Add a can of tomato juice to each pot and start throwing the kitchen sink at both. Onions, cut up potatoes, cabbage, beans of all kinds (green, Lima, butter, whatever kind) more onion, corn, peas, bamboo shoots & etc, etc, etc for vegetables. I use canned everything and drain all the liquids. Don't thin down that beef stock for any reason. Cook for a couple of hours on a low simmer stirring occasionally. Not much seasoning is needed. Salt of course, pepper and I put some red pepper flakes for a little kick. Damn it's good and only gets better each time it's reheated. Eat all you can, give some to your closet friends and freeze the rest. I can eat this all year long. Enjoy😊😊

Start with one large soup bowl full of wide egg noodles.. Boil the egg noodles for two minutes, then add a packet of Lipton's noodle soup mix and let it boil for five more minutes. Add the meat from one whole rotisserie chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces. Add a crown of broccoli, cut up per your preference Add two beaten eggs when the soup is boiling again. You'll have more than you can eat, so freeze the leftovers and you'll be amazed how good it is re-heated. I call it bachelor's chicken soup.

My wife and I make home made chicken noodle soup and can usually 14 quarts. As we get older we let the Kitchen Aid food processor mix the dough into balls and then roll the dough to the desired thickness and cut the dough to the desired width. We pressure cook chicken thighs and then shred them. We cook the noodles in chicken broth and mix the chicken with the noodles. We season with Mrs Dash, onion powder and garlic power while the noodles are cooking and then can. A great winter meal.

I have to say on these cold days, nothing beats homemade Venison Stew. I use 2, 2-pound packages of cubed Venison, 2-bags of baby carrots, 6 or 8 big potatoes cut up into smaller pieces. I always use Garlic powder (a must with venison) salt and pepper for seasonings. Let cook on low in the crock pot all day and by dinner time it is done. Delish too !!

Sounds so good, but no offense, IMO, what a waste of venison. Any cut of beef would be ok. Gotta save that venison for steaks cooked in iron fry pan over camp fire in well rendered onions and butter (cold beer while cooking is optional). I say this because my source of venison is not as plentiful in my senior non hunting days...😁 Bone in steaks are the best in my opinion. But, if ya got a freezer full, I'm up for your venison stew anytime! 👍👍👍👍👍

I'm glad you were able to get right into the eye doctor to have your eye treated 😊 Hope it heals quickly. Good project (s) 👍 Potato or potato & ham soup. 3 or 4 medium potatoes boiled to medium firmness, drained, placed in a pot with 1 stick of butter and a medium onion and heated until onions are translucent. Salt and pepper lightly. Add milk slowly until desired consistency and keep on heat until first bubbles appear as you stir lightly to avoid scorching. When up to temperature reduce heat to keep warm until ready to eat. Add garlic to taste, fresh is best. Best cold weather soup there is to drive away the cold and fill the belly. May need a nap afterwards 😂

I take the leftover Thanksgiving turkey bones in a large pot with enough water to cover the bones and boil them down for a few hours to make the meat fall off the bones and extract the marrow. I season the boiling bones with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion salt, celery salt, and paprika. Seasonings and amounts will vary according to taste. After the bones are boiled down, strain the broth into a pan you will use to finish the soup and let the meat cool. While the turkey meat is cooling, cook chunked carrots, celery, and onion (optional broccoli and cauliflower) in the turkey broth. Add fresh parsley, rosemary, thyme, and bay leaves in a herb net. Pick through the cooled turkey meat to remove bones, using your fingers to find the tiny bones. After bones are removed from the meat, add meat to the broth with the vegetables and remove the herb net. Add rice or noodles and cook until the rice or noodles are done.
