But with clerics, every spell is available. It just needs to be prepared and that can change every new day. For every other class, you only get the spells you learned. You don't just immediately have the entire level of spells.

When the wizard is just getting that first Fireball, the cleric gets a half-strength radiant damage angel-fireball that doesn't hurt the party, slows enemies, and lasts ten freaking minutes while you drag it around with you.

I have a alchoholic kobold artificer i wrote up months ago who specialized in making potions, booze, medicine, etc. He often samples his own supply and his experiments and can be found in his lab most of the time enjoying or suffering from whatever concoction he cooks up. I remember the first cleric I ever made, I always ended up as the support caster so I made a tabaxi war cleric who was nicknamed “the party’s daddy” because someone introduced him as “their hot friend” and he of corse, kicked ass. He’s the character that really gave me resect for clerics and realized that they aren’t a weak class and that they can be a really cool and strong character if built right.

@@megavore97 While we're discussing the many illustrious faces of the Cleric, I'm excited to try Blood Domain, from Matt Mercer's Tal'Dorei setting. The domain spells heavily feature buff and debuff spells, and they get a martial weapon proficiency. I've already got a character brewing: a military veteran whose found religion after miraculously surviving a fatal wound suffered on tne battlefiled. In my head, he's something between Mephistopholes from Goethe's Faustus(namely, the Spanish dandy aspect), and Illaoi from League of Legends; he urges people to indulge in the revelry of life while they have the means and the time.

Turn undead may be my least favorite channel divinity option, but if a ghost posesses your friend, the only other option to make the gost leave is to smash in said friends face and hope you can revive him later. So in the extremely rare occasion that you need it, youll be damn glad to have it.

@@clowntown5220 The only ways to eject a ghost from a possessed host is to use one of these options: 1) Turn Undead. 2) Use a spell like Dispel Evil and Good. 3) Have the ghost willingly end the possession. 4) The host is reduced to 0 hit points (is knocked unconscious). So, in the case of lacking options 1 or 2, and number 3 being improbable at best, option 4 is all you have left.

One of my players has started playing an Order Cleric, and it is hilarious to watch a Lawful Neutral cleric being played like an Inquisitor. He's cold and clinical, so every time he heals I describe how uncomfortable a feeling it is compared to other clerics. Normally being healed feels like slipping into a warm bath or receiving a kindly embrace. With him it's like an alien presence is reaching into the character to pull their wounds close. "You feel better, but you also feel vaguely violated by the clinical nature of the healing."
