Matty growing up on the sunny coast a mates old man was a pro fisher and always had smoked cobe in the fridge. We would just pull in on the pushies and grab a hand full and keep going on our way. What a treat to eat fish in a different way. Onto in brother.

Great video as always keep it up, as for the whale situation in my opinion which could be completely wrong, but the first blow you hear was really hard which is a way they show dominance and same with the tail throw, it also a way they play or communicate from a distance with other whales letting them know where they are or could be in a playful mood they are sometimes also really curious animals, theres a lot we still dont know about them tbh. Also everything you said you did regarding driving around them you did everything correctly. P.s i worked with a whale watching company for 6 years and spent a lot of time on the water chasing these awesome animals 🤙🏻🎣

Another cracking video as always mate. I always find that I learn something new with each clip that you shoot. And its often really subtle,nuanced ways of thinking and approaching each drift. And that whale footage was absolutely spectacular

At least in the top three anyway Good that you shared the locations, although having Sailed up around that area a few times it was good to see them again. Keep up the good work Mate. Cheers Marty.

Loving the videos! Would be great if you could do a “boat/gear” special. I’m sure many would like to learn more about what you like and would change on your boat and also more about the gear you use.

I was on a charter off Mackay a few years back. We had a Minkie circle us for a bit showing white belly just like that. Asked around and apparently, it's a mating behavior. They see the white hull as a turn on.

Hey mate, from someone certified in large whale disentanglement (yes that’s a thing, and I’ve saved 2 humpback so far) the high pitched squeal you hear when they blow off is a sure fire way to know they are pissed off, normally it starts when sharks rock up on an entangled whale or when a boat gets a little close for comfort. It’s night and day difference when you compare a squealing whale with a relaxed one.. my 2 cents, I’d say those were warning slaps.
@PelagicPursuit894 ай бұрын
really interesting to here mate and appreciate the comment. we were drifting away from them and they were the ones following us which I assumed shouldn't have made them aggressive but the high pitch squeal was definitly different and seemed aggressive
@ImpactZoneSpearfishing4 ай бұрын
@@PelagicPursuit89 never know what could piss them off, could just be the younger one being taught how to show aggression. The calf was doing a spy-hop while the mum slapped her tail but that’s just a guess, can never really confirm how they are feeling but aggression was definitely on the mums mind haha glad no damage came to you or the boat

The best Char Siu sauce I've ever made has hoisin in it. Hoisin is comparable to a heavy teri sauce with a Chinese five-spice base. Toasted sesame seeds is a required condiment in my kitchen, for sure, flavor multiplier.

Pretty common behaviour for the humpbacks Matty, here in Hervey Bay we get them doing it up on the West coast of Fraser Island up in platypus bay thru these months pretty regularly He’s just checking you out, we calling it mugging. So you basically got mugged by a whale
