@@NielMalan yeah its relatable. I even felt my personality was not imposing enough and therefore getting cut in the middle. Then i realised that its my mistake. At the same time my closest people are good listeners of me. I noticed that extroverts know how to speak very formally and casually at the same time. So when they get interupted, they some how carry off the consersation by cracking a joke or diverting the topic without showing the pain of insult in their face. Introverts on the other hand are most honest and want to engage in a meaningful and deep conversation. When they get interupted they clearly show the pain and take it personally. Being interupted is an insult for intro and extroverts. But extroverts accept the spirit of casual conversations and move on. Even extroverts dont like some conversations and somehow wanting to avoid it.So my suggestion is 1)Talk your mind to the nearest ones. 2)Talk formally to unknown people. Sorry for the lenghty speech. I m just sharing my thoughts. 3) Staying quiet at times is good as it is the charm of an introvert.

@@feministslayer3308 Good advice. Also, know and accept your style. I am trained in public speaking , so if I have something to say I am learning to say "here's a lecture", and then give a condensed, uninterrupted version of my knowledge of the subject. Then I let the conversation carry on without me, but nobody thinks I'm quiet.

One day, we had a meeting, and let me tell you it was boring as hell. So I poked the guy right next to me asked him "Why are bullets so special?".He was taken aback by it but still managed to ask "Why?". I said, " Well, they do their jobs even after they are fired.". When he heard that, his face went like "all my soul, sucked down the stream". It was a pretty XD moment for me.

I talk when I want to and when I feel safe enough to. It takes me a long time to get to know someone well enough to even begin to open up to them. Why do they want me to talk? Why are they so loud? I love comfortable silences. I am looking a bit into Selective Mutism. Sometimes I just choose not to talk. I learn more by listening than I do by talking. There are many ways to communicate, and language is only one of them.

Hm i don’t know if I agree. I am an ambivert. I regain energy from introspection, but sometimes I gain a lot of energy from socialising if it’s good socialising and it feels fun and meaningful. If it’s only shallow I feel very tired. I’m both an introvert and an extrovert and I think many can relate. There seems to be different types of introversion and extroversion. I am an extrovert in the way that I take a lot of information from outside of myself but then I need a lot of time to introspect. People may see me as an extrovert sometimes because I do initiate conversation with many and search contact with others and I give out a lot of energy when I am with people. But if I then feel like the conversation isn’t going anywhere or that the people I’m talking to are talking about really boring things, I get really quiet (if we are a group of people talking), and sometimes it’s only that I’m just listening. I think it’s interesting haha and I think that it’s not always easy to say what it is to be an introvert or an extrovert.

I hate that being an introvert is seen as a defect. When it's just the way we are, nothing wrong with that. Unfortunately society prefers extroverts and they want us to be like them. Growing up hearing "why are you so quiet" all the time really hurt me, made my self esteem go completely down, it made me feel worthless, I felt like it wasn't valid to be myself, like I was broken. Next time an extrovert tells you: "why are you sooo quiet", tell them "why are you so loud?" "why aren't you more quiet and reflective?" Then they will understand that it's hurtful to say that.

I think the most difficult thing is the feeling of not being wanted. You want to talk to someone but you are scared that you annoy them and that they don’t care about you. You have friends but you are never first place for them. If I wanna hang out with them I’m always the person who has to make the first move and not them. People have asked me many times over the past few years why I never talk or don’t speak that much. It’s a simple question but so hard to answer for me. People think I’m this happy and confident person but inside I just feel alone, sad and depressed all the time. You just try to hide it and act like you are fine but damn you just feel lost inside..

Thanks Lana, my younger self really needed this. School was more than 10 years ago but I still cannot forget the pain and the struggle of being judged and labelled as the quiet weirdo all the time by my classmates, teachers and even my parents-despite being the top performer and the best graduate (apparently no achievement is worthy unless you are social, rowdy and noisy?!). I tell you, the society I grew up in is vicious, they are practically a cult. I’m still angry about this sometimes, but I’m learning to let go and moving forward one step at a time. Not because they deserve forgiveness, let God be their judge, but because my soul and my being deserve peace :)

Yeah being pressured in an uncomfortable situation is the worst..like i hate being with this one classmate of mine because she makes me talk whenever i go silent. Shes like "talk something, u look like ur not interested" "why so quiet" and the worst worst moment is when all eyes are on u...just looking at u..waiting for what u say. So i just uncomfortably laugh then go to cr and cry. Even if its not a big deal and they just want me to talk and not look uncomfortable.. But its hard..its hard..but if I want to be understood so I'll just understand what they did. I feel u dude, hope ur okay now 😔

All my life I always tried to fit-in and be accepted in the extroverted society. I've found that the more you try to fit-in, the more you're looked upon as a people-pleaser. People would not respect your personal space or your choices, and would try to change you and even control you. The only way to gain genuine respect is to be yourself and stop caring about fitting-in. Now that I've embraced being an introvert, and proudly so, people show more respect and consideration towards me. I would blatantly tell people to message me, instead of calling directly (unless it's an emergency). I would confidently tell people that yes I keep my phone off to avoid distraction. I would tell them that yes, talking too much drains my energy. I not afraid to say NO anymore without giving too much explanations. It's my life and my time, I can do whatever I want with it without explaining to anyone. When I started making KZbin videos on personal development, I felt obliged to be on camera and show my face, but then I realized that I don't really have to, so I decided to make animated videos instead on self-help related topics, which are more creative than what I was making before, plus I found that to be less draining. You've gotta make choices that suit you. To all those introverts out there, embrace your introversion proudly. You don't need to be apologetic for not fitting-in!

I have social anxiety, and I suffer from something similar to this. I’m literally at the movie theatres right now with two people sitting next to me and my anxiety is on a super-high because someone forgot to take her meds. Everyone always gets so surprised when I talk and I eventually just stopped doing it. They’ll go, “Oh, you talk!” “You can talk!” “Who said that?” “Was that really her?” It’s really frustrating because there’s a huge part of me that wants to socialize with the world and out myself out there, but I jump at every little sound, and I hate being so stuck inside myself. It’s not that I don’t want to talk to anyone, I’m too scared and I can’t. I hate being alone. Help me.

I ♥️ this video. It teaches you that Introverts (including me) live an outstanding life of observation, enjoying life, and to cherish valuable memories. Also, that just because we're lonely doesn't mean we are depressed, but we are happy and content with our lives learning about ourselves.

I understand completely the part of not changing who you are but it is good to get out of the comfort zone ones in a while as you mentioned as well. Obviously keeping true to our introverted selves. I have been doing this lately and it is amazing sometimes to find what you said too. The hidden introverts in an ocean of extroverts.

Good afternoon Lana! When I was young and my sister was in school I was usually all by myself to entertain and occupy my time. I spent a great deal of my time pondering things, and as I got older those habits persisted. I didn’t know or realize that I was introverted until much later in life, because I accepted that for me, how I spent my time was normal for me. Even though my family accused me of being a family drop out, because I didn’t watch many of the TV programs they were watching. Instead I used that time to practice my guitar or violin or piano, or I would paint or draw pictures. I found this a more rewarding way to spend my time, not realising that I was recharging from the drain of energy that socialising takes from me. I am and have been social at times. When I feel the need to leave a social event, I have found many ways to extricate myself, usually I explain that I have things to do, or an errand to the store before it closes. There are so many options I have found. I really appreciate the videos you post. Please continue your work. Thank you! Please have an excellent and awesome day! 🙂🙏🏻

What a great video, it was so pretty too. For me as an ambivert and quite introverted in many ways too, it was difficult to sometimes feel a balance between my introversion and extroversion. Sometimes when I was out with people, I felt like I would maybe miss out if I didn’t stay longer, and it would leave me so frustrated, annoyed and exhausted. I had to learn that balance and learn to leave when it’s starting to feel boring, or leave when I still have energy if it’s been a good time with people. Sometimes it’s still difficult to say that I have to go because I can feel a bit mean when I do that, but that’s ok. Don’t force yourself to stay if you really want to leave, it’s only going to be a waste of time and a lot of energy.

I related to EVERY SINGLE word you said in this video! I realized a while ago that I was pretending to be an extrovert, when all along I've been an introvert. Watching your video made me realise that it's totally okay to say "no" to things you'd prefer doing alone. I've always been the type of person who says "yes" to everything bc I don't want to hurt someone or make them feel bad. I really really really enjoy watching your videos! Looking forward to more content!❤️🌟

Thank you for making this video. College has been the most difficult time of my life (because of the social aspects) and I just want to love myself for who I am, and this helped at least a little bit.

This is so uplifting. Thank you for making this video. I thought I was the only one who always been asked "Why are so quiet? Why are so shy?" Evertime I hear those things It makes me more anxoius making me restrain myself for being embarrassed making me feel not to talk to anyone anymore.

I’m an open introvert and I feel so much better than most extroverts - as I’ve noticed in college most of them feel lonely most of the times when they don’t have a huge group surrounding them On the other hand I’m very satisfied with being alone by myself as I know I’m not as lonely as most around me
