Symmetry was very important to Mr. Deering. But be careful which door you open because it just might be a false door.
➡️ The construction and design of Vizcaya were based heavily on the concept of symmetry. We go to the North Gallery, and show you the beautiful Manin bedroom.
The Manin bedroom is a perfect example of the symmetry of Vizcaya and shows us not the hidden doors, but doors leading to nowhere, which are almost equally intriguing.
A delicately decorated door in this suite is situated atop a few steps and is mirrored by two doors on either side.
➡️ One door leads further into Vizcaya, and the other opens into a solid brick wall. This purposeless door opens into the bricks of the chimney, but regardless of its futility, it definitely adds to the mysterious and intriguing air that surrounds Vizcaya and its hidden treasures.
