I just knew Alan Wake was gonna tank this graphics card & I was horribly wrong. the RX 7600 8Gig is way more capable than I previously thought. maybe it's the Ryzen 5 8600G combo but this is impressive. you can play new games & all the old games at 1080p with this system. well done & great video. appreciate you.

It's a weird one because the game has improved but on older cards that are about as powerful as this GPU it runs real bad due to lack of mesh shaders etc. I think this often makes you think a similar card, even if newer would be the same but they really aren't.

I am really hoping Battlemage is good 12gb vram for 1080p should be minimum now for £250 going into 2025.

Great video, secretly the 8600G is a great choice being a monolithic CPU it's more responsive and handles faster memory easier, this many people overlook.

The only issue is the 8x pcie bandwidth for the graphics

people overlook it because it's slower and you need faster ram to make it perform at the same level as the cheaper and faster 7500F

An interesting tidbit is that the Ryzen 5 8600G has a pricing similar to the 7600X so wondering which perform betters if you have a discrete GPU. I suspect there's very little difference but can't test it obviously (only CPU I have in AM5 is a 7600).

If building with a GPU at the beginning you go with the 7600X. It has a build in iGPU anyway although not as fast as the 8600G on its own. I would only go APU first if not planning a GPU until later just so you can play things ok to begin with.

@@TechLabUK The nice thing about the 8600G I like is that it doesn't sacrifice too much on the cache side compared to Vega-based APUs I think.

Nice video - how does it compare to R5 7600 non-x? They go for about the same price, does it make any difference when paired with up to RTX 4060 ti class GPU? I am thinking for a small build, to go with a used GPU i.e. to use until I can get a good deal on something?

The 7600X is slightly faster but also uses a lot more power. Both would pair great with a 4060Ti.

@@TechLabUK Thanks for the reply, so a Non-X would be about equal in performance? I am looking at 7600 non-x specifically, because it is around 30 euro cheaper and comes with a cooler

I want to ask you please which to get AMD Ryzen 7 8700G or AMD Ryzen 5 9600x or AMD Ryzen 7 9700x? Its impossible to get hold on x3D chip like AMD Ryzen 7 7800x3d or AMD Ryzen 7 9800x3d. I will be using (Asrock B650E PG-ITX WIFI, AMD B650, AM5, Mini ITX, 2 DDR5, HDMI, eDP, Wi-Fi 6E, 2.5G LAN, PCIe5, 2x M.2)

If pairing with a GPU get the 9700x if you can afford it, will last a while yet.

You really shouldn't be getting an 8 series Ryzen CPU if you're getting a dedicated GPU for your new build as you are limiting yourself with the PCIe lanes availability. If you are doing a new build with a GPU then get a 7 or 9 series Ryzen CPU don't get an 8 series iGPU CPU as you are unnecessarily limiting your PC bandwidth and upgrade options.
