Just picked up a '95 Indy 440 for $400.00 as a non-runner. Got it home, found and fixed a broken wire. Really strong runner. Now IF we could only get some SNOW here in Wisconsin. I may have picked the wrong year to get back into snowmobiling, but I think I landed a good deal with this Indy.

XC EDGE was a great sled. The 600sp had everything an Indy had and then some. Bringing the name back hasn't changed the fact that Polaris builds a solid sled.

Great video Luke, I remember what it felt like to blast across the lake and wind through the trails on my 91' RXL, all the looks it got and the very distinct sound it had. This video brought back some of my favorite memories on a snowmobile. I am now a full fledged mountain rider, but am still as brand loyal as ever because of that old wedge that I loved to ride so much. Thank you for the trip down memory lane and keep up the great work!

I'd like more of these videos that show us the past of sleds and the industry that made them because it's decently tough to find info about them from the pass, but also, it's just refreshing to learn/appreciate the past instead of fighting over who's doing the latest and greatest the best right now.

I love Indys! I have a 1997 Polaris Indy XLT it is the best Snow machine ever in my mind it’s still running strong there’s lots of power even in powdered past my waist it can still curve and it’s very powerful in powder in ditch Bing they are sweet and good top speed on lake

Just finishing putting a 96 xcr 440 sp back together from a previous rough life. Should be fun but I've had my eye on the new xcr since they came back. Hope the switchback xcr will have the conventional tunnel next year

Great Video👍 I remember those first years of the Indy, and Al and Bobby Unser promoting them. Great Sled! I think the snowmobile industry should take a “cue” from the automotive folks. And bring back some “retro sleds”, with hoods that look like the old times back in the day. Making a Doge Demon and a Ford Mustang throw backs, is marketing genius👍😁

Dont listen to silly comments about them blowing up all the time. They dont. Over the past 2 seaons weve had 8 seperate 850s in our fleet... every one of them had at least 1000 miles... our XC 137 this season has over 2500 MILES and not one has blown up. Our XCR has had the plug fouling problem, but its been fixed so its not an issue anymore.

@@bennyb6071 dont listen to Luke, it's a fact they aren't reliable, especially the first year 850s . Maybe they've improved maybe they haven't. Like my buds like to joke theres a reason Polaris is 2500 hundred cheaper than a skidoo ,because it covers one engine rebuild. And these guys ride Polaris. And Luke it's not a silly comment its fact .

Im sure you can imagine how little footage there is available from that time. We used what we could find but the race results are all you need to know. And it WAS a force to be reckoned with.

Polaris Needs a Game changer Like a turbo 2stroke 3cyl Diesel Opposed Engine. 270 Hp to 300hp. It comes with Idle Power to weight, Idle efficiency and would be crazy BULLET Proof!

Can you go there’s a there’s a laugh what windshield they don’t even have windshields I think that’s the saddest day there is the day they don’t have no more windshield I think I should offer one that’s tall enough you can’t see over it do you stand up I don’t care how much clothes you put on when you’re riding an 800 you’re gonna freeze to death with no windshield bring back the windshield

The New "INDY" still can't compete with the Lake missile 800 XCR fuji engine..sure the new ones might ride better. but there still not able to reach that all out top speed! And We see it here on KZbin.
