【Feeding Ron Chinese-Episode 17】
The film is my gift to my Mom. It is also a story about waiting, missing, and loving people.
I made the dried persimmons last year for my Mom because she had planned to visit me from China last year.
But she can't come as the pandemic changes everybody's life.
Time flies fast, autumn is coming again.
We did video chat yesterday, Mom said, don't keep the persimmons anymore, you eat them.
I ate the last five persimmons online in front of Mom
It is so tasty! Mom, I told my Mom.
It is now time to harvest the persimmons again.
Ron and I decided to keep making dried persimmons whether mother can come here or not.
Also, I decided to make this film to remember the story about missing the people and love.
When I was a young girl, she made dried persimmons for whole family.
I have remembered all the details that she told me.
She had to do cleaning and peeling( Ron did most of the job this year)
That was a tough work, and then put all the persimmons under the sun to dry.
The persimmons look like soldiers lined up.
It was so amazing when my siblings and I saw that.
After waiting for 2 weeks, we will have dried persimmons to eat.
That was a beautiful memory in our childhood.
Mom also made a delicious dessert for us.
I call the dessert as Chinese style persimmon donuts.
This is an easy recipe.
We only ate this once or twice a year.
She also made dried persimmons chicken soup to cure our cough.
Persimmon bread was also her favorite recipe.
The smells and taste bring back the feeling of my past happy time.
I hope the Coronavirus will be gone soon.
Then everybody can breathe freely.
People can visit their family and friends without anxiety.
