I purchased a livescope this spring. Trying to catch fish you can see is a challenge in and of itself. If it’s windy and you don’t have spot lock it’s basically useless. Just kind of nice to see all the underwater cover.. also seeing how different lures fall and move as you manipulate them has created a wealth of knowledge that does add up to more fish- not necessarily from looking at them in live time. I think livescope can still be used without giving up the tradition of hardcore bass fishing. But really though.. Why were fish finders invented in the first place? To find fish right. It’s either all or none.

I'm 37 years old, and I agree with you. FFS has changed the sport for the worse. I like the tech. But not for tournaments. Within 2 or 3 years you will be able to use AR fishing sunglasses and see through the water like it isn't even there. Mark my words, there will be a split of the sport. I think I would rather see someone using livescope than seeing purist bass guys ripping them off their spawning sites putting them in a livewell and real easing them in a different part of the lake. And the guys that are good with livescope are most likely already good anglers who know their stuff you still need to be in the right area and present the bait correct
@danielshoemaker3742
@danielshoemaker3742 20 күн бұрын
I agree totally! There isn't anything better than looking at a point or a rock and throwing a lure and sticking a fish that you know is sitting there. Unfortunately the angles the use forward facing sonar exclusively, don't understand the gratification that come when you are able to put the puzzle together. This trend is just like all other sports, in which they will do anything to be famous without paying there dues or being something special, like a Jordan or a VanDam.

I’m in the odd position here where I originally said months ago that I’d never have a FFS. Now I’m am considering buying one. And here’s why. I fished and won tournaments 20 years ago without even turning a flasher or graph on. In fact I often left them off because I think they spook pressured fish in shallow water. 10 years ago I stopped fishing tournaments and the boat has mostl sat in a garage. Not my GPS and my depth finders do not work. So I have to replace them regardless of FFS or not. Back when I fished tournaments I used to use a plain old x67 fish finder and use the transducer turned forward to locate isolated boulders in open water in basically a very crude FFS fashion. You couldn’t really see the fish and certainly couldn’t see the fish by your lure but I could see the boulders. The fish set around these boulders and if you run over them you spook the fish off. So now I’m in the situation of, if I want to fish those locations like I used to I either have to buy another plain depth finder and rig the transducer to shoot forward or I can buy a FFS and be able to see things much more clearly. I still can never see myself throwing at individual fish with a FFS but it would be extremely handy for fishing my old spots. In my current state with my GPS broken and using a plain down facing fish finder all I’ve been able to accomplish lately is spooking off the fish from these spots before I locate them.

I’d like the phrase “If you’re looking, you ain’t cooking” to start applying to fishing as well.

I’ll stand by something you said and support it till I die, FFS is not fair chase. It goes against the entire premise and should not be allowed in “pro” angling.

You’re taking ol Randy pretty serious there man, there’s lots of things I will support and stand firm on but something a KZbinr says? Probably not, he’s in it for clicks and view time and $$ of course, however I too think that the “ pros” shouldn’t be allowed to use it, I would like to see how some tournaments would end up like this year’s classic. Take everything but a depth finder away and I’m curious how it would have shaken out

Avid outdoorsman here. Fair chase across the board is a hallmark of the lifestyle. Using ffs in a “pro” angler setting pretty much eliminates fair chase. Those whom lack the knowledge to locate fish without ffs aren’t “pros” they are claiming to be. They simply misrepresent the entire sport as a whole. It’s not just something some KZbinr said. It’s a known fact and has been for many decades. I just happen to be old enough to have been raised to understand and appreciate it.

It has nothing to do with age or KZbin views. People need to use more of their intuition. When the weather flips on tournament day. That's when the rubber meets the road. Untill that happens live scope people will have a better chance of cashing a check. Cmon now it's intuitive!

Can’t just get obsessed with bass. I guess we’re lucky where I’m from but fish like walleye lake trout and salmon is a real challenge especially in clear water even musky. People love bass but they are small and bite easy compared to a lot of other fresh water species. Non live scope shore fisherman here that racks them up

I love your channel and I watch it a lot, but I have a question for the younger generation coming up in bass fishing and I’m 50 years old by the way do you recommend they go out and get their teeth kicked in by the live scoopers and lose every tournament or best place maybe 20th What do you learn how to scope and be competitive in the sport that is happening right now?

I respectfully disagree with your comment the “ Younger Anglers won’t be missing out on anything, if they get rid of their livescope”. They sure will, $100k Tournament wins. They will never dump it until the Tournaments or leagues ban it.

You are 💯 percent correct. But I just don't think the new generation is going to change. I am 64 years old and I have never had any kind of electronics. When I started bass fishing I didn't even have a trolling motor. But give them a paddle they wouldn't even know how to it. But you are right 💯.

Said it many times..fishing is Angler vs Fish, not Technology vs Fish...once Technology overtakes actual fishing skills/techniques, it's no longer fishing.......There's a reason anyone can win a tournament today, anywhere, anytime....Scoping skills should NEVER be the reason for "winning" a tournament over actual fishing skills...Same goes for recreational fishing....Recreational Scoping & Recreational Fishing aren't even close to being similar

Not a tournament fisherman or even a serious bass fisherman. Like to catch catfish and crappie for fishfrys a lot more than getting look-at-me clicks with a big hawg bass that I will throw back. It cracks me up how everybody wants to turn every hobby from BBQ to hunting to fishing to whatever. I'm an odd duck, I know.

I guess i'm a 52 yr old flat brimmer. Lol, but I don't have FFS. Hell, I don't even turn my electronics on most days but I have 40 years of bass fishing experience so I don't really need them. Lol! But honestly, if you wear big oversized sunglasses, a flat brim hat fits a lot better than a curved brim hat, and provides more sun protection for your face.

Not a hunter just enjoy fishing, do they allow a drone to find deer? Similar to a live scope imo just under the water instead of over the woods?
@rcp8287

What makes it traditional? At one time, what you call traditional wasn't traditional! At one time the longer handles on rods was odd. Putting everyone in one box and judging them and saying they can't really fish is just as wrong as the things you disagree with! Even the flat brim comments! You do know that some people wear a flat brim hat while fishing because it helps block the sun and glare with the right glasses! To blindly judge a large group of people the way you do is one of the biggest problems in general nowadays! To tell the lies no matter how small is wrong on so many levels! Telling someone they aren't a man because of a material object they may have or use says so many things about what kind of person you are and to do it knowing you have people that blindly follow you and your opinions tells allot!
