So true. Jealousy is a strong indicator of narcissism. When you feel confused and uneasy about sharing any good news with someone, you are probably dealing with a narcissist. Once you discern someone as one, get out and do not look back because they will sabotage everything that you do.

I remember having a conversation with my ex-wife. We were talking about cooking and I said that I was pretty good at it-I said you're better, but I'm pretty good. She got pissed. Why?! I gave her a greater complement. I mean, I understand why now, but at the time it made no sense.

Their jealousy is like nothing I've ever witnessed in my lifetime. It's a horrible personality to tote around. Envy,strife,chaos, gossip,slandering...all out of that perpetual envy/jealousy. Doesn't even matter if they're materially wealthy...the jealousy of someone else's light pisses them off!! 😮

A neighbor I used to help because she began to lose mobility, reason she needed me over often to help around her house (became dependent on a scooter 🛵for people who lose mobility) and ever since (oh too much coincidence)my reputation in the neighborhood went down, people started turning against me changing their positive opinion about me ...even when I cut her off she approached a neighbor oblivious of the year long struggle of giving her chance after chance to change and I have her warned, well they don't like for us to have them walking on eggshells but they will be crafty and I still cut her off after one of her karen type nitpicky non-stop censoring sessions (although this time she wasn't yelling all entitled...) It's funny she probably thought she would have me easily as an autistic person, and being a person constantly disciplining myself to be an empath (I'm christian),she must have been really ego hurt during the trajectory and at the end. JESUS did say ," if you're persecuted in one city flee to another" and she did persecute me and wanting to correct me irrelevant things or things I already practice,given I'm an autistic person , narcissist must really take pleasure in "correcting us"

It is sad, but only proves they weren't really your friends anyway. One way or another, they are usually yours or the partners friends, so they have to take a side. Yes, this one definitely resonates with me! One important revelation for me was starting to understand 'malicious envy' as described by Prof Sam Vaknin as when somebody who feels resentment and negative feelings towards people who have more than them. This is as opposed to benign envy, where you can feel envious of people more successful or with better traits but you also admire them and want to learn from and be more like them. Because this is an internal insecurity for them I'd say best not to trigger them and flaunt your good qualities around them. Seek validation elsewhere.

Was friends with someone all through childhood and into my 30s. Somewhere along the line I learned not to tell her anything going on in my life, good or bad. I’d go out on dates with people she knew, go to concerts and fun events, got promoted on my job...never talked about it with her. It was so bad I started house hunting, made an offer, settled on the house and moved...and never told her. When she found out I bought a house and moved she was pissed that I hadn’t told her. That was my out from the toxic friendship.

The friendship ended 20 years ago. Around 15 years ago someone asked me why I didn't see her anymore. When I tried to explain they brushed me off and said, "Life's too short to hold grudges." Life is also too short to spend around toxic people. I don't hate her and I haven't held a grudge. I'm friendly to her when I occasionally run into her. After twenty years I'm starting to see the other relationships she destroyed. It makes me sad. It has also made me realize I did the right thing moving on.

I wasn't trying to be spiteful when I didn't tell her I was moving. It was extremely stressful, buying my first house, on my own. I didn't want to deal with any negativity she'd throw my way because I was buying a house. I grappled for weeks with calling her to let her know I was moving. I didn't care if she knew, but I didn't want to talk to her about it. I finally decided I wasn't going to call her and tell her and I actually felt relieved. Much later it occurred to me that it wasn't much of a friendship to begin with if I didn't feel safe telling her about that life change. Also notable, she didn’t try to talk to me about why I didn’t tell her, or make any effort to find out what was wrong.

It's true, and what's worse, it might even be a parent. I never used to understand my mother's words to my father, saying that he envied everything about me since my childhood. It was almost illogical and strange. My mother was aware that my father wasn't normal, but she allowed such behavior because it was convenient for her. I suffered since childhood because I had a narcissistic father who didn't support me in my upbringing; instead, I ended up becoming a parent figure for him.

Very true. The person I knew was so full of himself but I didn't see it at the time because I was so desperate to find someone, but hindsight shows me it was all about them, how many popular people they knew, how 'inside' they were, pure clout chasing and I realized in hindsight I was yet another step to rub their tyrannical little boots on in their never ending quest for clout chasing. When I ran away, they started a decades long campaign of gangstalking and smearing/harassment.

all this stuff should be revisited. i noticed that in each "abuser"-"victim" couple i know (yes " ") the "victim" possesses all the qualities of the "abuser", including envy, but only suppresses them to the point of not realizing and thus, acts in a passive-aggressive way, which is certainly an abuse too.

Yup he hates the fact I owe my own home and I have a good bond with both my children. And his jealous the fact he can't control me and needs my permission to see his child which is why they abandon their children with the mother and then go tell people that you stopped them seeing the child. Because these people are chronic attention seekers and constantly need empathy and sympathy Towards them . They're truly evil and envious and they'll never be like me . I am happy and unique which is what the narcissist wants but will never get because they are empty inside out. They're miserable losers

I think it's cruel when they do something emotionally cruel to you, and you keep emailing them, and there's no response, and you try and try to call them but it all goes to voicemail. My own twin brother does this to me. The bad thing is he does this unprovoked. In fact, I would be thinking that everything is fine, and BOOM SURPRISE!

So true! I hadn't noticed it in a family member before until it was pointed out by my ex wife. I poo poohed the idea because I thought it was absurd that this family member would be jealous of what I had, but my ex also predicted what he would do next and was 100% correct. With hindsight I could see it throughout my life but at the time I never really noticed.

This is 100% true. Without being an arrogant prick, I tend to go into new jobs with a positive mindset and my peers and supervisors pick up on it and everything I do turns to gold. When I met my nex I had a successful career and was well traveled in the game of life. She observed that and it became a competition. She didn’t know I knew what she was doing. It was constant belittling comments and a sh*tload of passive aggressive behavior that was so f**king annoying. I always worshipped and loved her because of her good qualities and set all that sh*t aside. I assumed she would reciprocate because I had poor behavior as well. I was wrong.

That jealous can appear is such small things.. I went to Warsaw for a few days and during that time, I went to visit the museum of Warsaw Uprising and broth from there small sticker with a logo. As I was back, I stuck it in the corner of the information board in the hall of my building... guess what? After one day, the label was gone...

I'm afraid I have become a narcissist. My parents were very controlling of me and my dad emotionally abusive. They didn't let me socialize and they made me anxious of every little thing. All my life I felt alone. Now at 19 I feel depressed and lost. But at the same time I'm so negative. And it makes me feel conflicted.
@AnotherPilot1
@AnotherPilot1 11 ай бұрын
@@A_m3ss it's easy to feel conflicted because you are being influenced (if not attacked) by forces outside of you that do not settle well with your true, authentic self. You are young and have had a rough road. So many of these emotional injuries you have sustained have you wanting to protect yourself...and that is absolutely normal. You need safety and a quiet place to heal and have time to further define who you want to be.
