I have never been in a quieter movie theater. People were eating popcorn through the trailers and the first five minutes of the movie, but after the first death, it was dead silent. I didn't hear anyone eating anything.

And yet the damn woman got pregnant! That really ruined the whole film for me... in a situation like that, even if you became pregnant accidentally and didn't have any access to an abortion, you would have bloody well done it yourself. Dreadfully morbid, I agree, but the pregnancy is essentially a death sentence for your other two children!

eurovision50 1. Accidents happen, condoms were not really in high quantity. For couples to be comfortable together, even in an apocalypse, they must some rate of sex drive. 2. They didn’t abort, because it was to establish the fact that they still mourn the loss of their 3rd child. It obviously takes a huge emotional toll on the deaf girl. They wanted to redeem themselves of what happened.

We wouldn't even do that now without monsters running around. And keeping picture frames around the house was a terrible idea. Doc Holidaze according to John these things lived in a harsh world. They’ve evolve to hunt by using Eco-Location and they’ve developed strong armor like skin. This is why they are almost impossible to kill. They are practically invulnerable and that’s how they survived the meteor

Doc Holidaze the creatures weak spot was exposed when Emily shot it. By rising the frequency the weak is exposed ( which is located in the face ). The Meteor thing I’ll give you that. They might have a hibernation mode and they basically slept on the whole trip including the crash.

Things to consider: 1. The kid was under 5, you try to tell a kid not to play with a toy. I’ll wait to see how that goes.... 2. The nail was pointed out to the kids by Emily in the final basement scene, after she stepped on it the first time. 3. If you don’t watch movies, you can’t appreciate the groundbreaking fact that this is a modern day silent movie more or less. 4. Like he said, it’s day 89. They have done considerably well to adapt to their situation in 3 months but everyone is going to learn by trial and error (hence the minor mistakes). 5. If you like the movie great. If not fine. But there’s no reason grown ass adults are cursing each other out in these comments over a film. Grow up. Respect a difference of opinion.

Artimis Lestrange just watched it, and I have to say, this movie wastes no time introducing you to the system, in this case it’s a great story and while I’d prefer to call it a thriller, nothing felt bad. I compare this to stuff like Insidious, Sinister, and Women in Black, and this is for sure the best horror film I’ve seen. If CinemaSins gets his hand on it, I feel like it’s going to be a stupidly short video

what i don’t understand is how they were walking on the bridge. why would the parents be in front and the children behind, instead of one parent on either side and the children in the middle. this would’ve prevented the death of their son, especially if they walked out the store that way. then they would’ve caught him taking the batteries.

i guess i'm the lone person that felt there were a lot of forced situations. possible spoilers.. 1. how in the world did the military (around the world) not consider using high pitch sound against monsters that seem to solely rely on it? I am far from a scientific mind but 5 mins in to the movie I had already had that a possible way to defeat them. Monsters are largely unorganized and super predictable. 2. leaving life fire lamps around a board game? easy to knock over? .....with the vast detail in planning they did I find that hard to believe they would overlook. 3. why do the parents continue to leave their kids behind them...ain't it pretty common to leave 1 parent in front 1 in back in that dangerous of a situation...thats what we used to do on field trips. 4. Just why...why have a baby so quick after losing a child? in such a hostile environment...just *sigh*

Personally, I didn't think that that was an unfair jump scare... I think I would agree more in a more tacky film full of unnecessary jump scares, but in a thriller/horror where jump scares are fairly few and far between, I think it's okay to have the odd misdirection. It captures the reality of those individuals living the reality that the movie portrays. They're living in a state of increased tension and are going to have moments where they jump at something that isn't a threat. I've often wondered why people seem to have such a big problem with any jump scares that don't originate from something genuinely dangerous. It happens in real life and of course it's also going to happen in a horror movie. Can someone explain why they're so loathed?

The question is: what is more important in such situation, living "normal" life or survival? For me it was not brave, it was stupid. They put at risk everything they had to have another baby. Childbirth + infant = a lot of noise over long period of time in a world where you must stay silent. Where any sound can be lethal...
@mysticmemories1693

Personally, I detest horror films - cheap scares, nonsensical actions by the characters, ridiculous monsters (human or otherwise). This was different - I leapt almost out of my seat at lead 5 times, but I didn't feel I was being abused - the fact that so much of the film was without words meant the actors performances, if anything, were more difficult, yet brought off beautifully by particularly Emily Blunt, but really by all the cast. If you see one movie this year, make it this one.

I personally think they didn’t need to explain the electricity thing, I don’t think they forgot about it, I think they just thought that it didn’t need to be explained. Also, it’s kind of like their get out of jail free card considering that they showed very detailed things like pouring sand onto the non-creaky parts of wood, eating with leaves instead of plates, etc. A normal film wouldn’t go into that much detail, and I think that was so great of them for going into detail like that, but yeah I don’t really think it needed to be explained.

jgfjgfify on the newspapers it said “bombs and guns” do nothing... 👀 the only reason they shot that one in the end was because of its flesh being exposed because of the high frequency, which was mistakenly found by the deaf daughter, so in the beginning(the first days) of the invasion, without anyone knowing that, what you said makes no sense, also who knows, they could be the pets or ground soldiers of the real aliens who invaded, they could have been left there to finish off whoever remained
@TimDaGoof
@TimDaGoof 6 жыл бұрын
jgfjgfify lol all we literally see are 3 of them in this small area, you ignored me saying there could be a higher class of the aliens that did the initial invasion, there could be diff types of this creature around the world, we also don’t know how many? As we saw there were people going missing first with all the missing posters, so they obviously didn’t have a full blown invasion, they came in secret at first hence people going missing which is why it could be believed there is a higher class involved and these creatures are simply their lap dogs, with you’re way of thinking there should only be 1 episode and 1 movie for everything 😂

@angelgorm8230
@angelgorm8230 6 жыл бұрын
In the movie the creatures only exposed their fleshy head when they were trying to spot very small sounds. Otherwise they could hear perfectly well while defending their heads so the military still would not have been able to kill them with bullets, knives or bombs. What bugged me was that non of the military scientists thought of using sound against the creatures that rely on sound in order to function. Also I would rather not have a sequel to this movie because this movie was good and satisfying from start to finish so a prequel or sequel would be entirely pointless. Also these creatures had lightning reflexes, to the point where they could react faster than a bullet could get to them unless it was at point blank range or something. I assume they could react instantly at the moment a sound is heard in order to hide their ears. Also before you say "Then how did they shoot it after it got up?", the answer to that is that the monster went deaf after it got overloaded the high frequency sound so it couldn't hear but it instinctively tried to anyway as it probably didn't realize that it had went deaf due to shock and lack knowledge.

VERY MINOR SPOILER-ish Why didn't they make sonic grenades? Have a small ball-shaped device that is easy to throw. Then design it so that if you press a button on the device it emits a loud siren sound and doesn't stop until it is destroyed by the monster. You could accidentally make a noise but then just throw one of these far away from you.

Jacob Morales Eh, probably. Can you really blame me, I barely pay attention to the month's latest low budget horror movie trailer. I think a matching subdued, starkly silent ad showing the family and then signs of a monster at the 5 second mark or something would have gotten the point across.

Maybe they should live in place where there's an ocean or rain; it will constantly be noisy whatever that monster do. Could live beside Niagara Falls for example.

If you plug (squeeze it) your nose when you sneeze, it’s pretty quiet, sometimes silent, I am able to cough silently (its super awkward and sometimes painful tho), as for farts, you could sit on a pillow or something, or just make it silent but deadly lol

Dude someone loud farted in our theater and it totally ruined the mood but it was freaking hilarious lol! It's a quiet movie so we as an audience did a good job at not busting out laughing

Actress Millicent Simmonds has been deaf since infancy due to a medication overdose. This was the second film she starred in, with Wonderstruck (2017) being her first. The film's director and male lead, John Krasinski, played the creature in a motion capture suit for a few scenes. There are real family photos of John Krasinski and Emily Blunt and their children used in the film. When Mrs Abbott is checking herself late in pregnancy, she marks her blood pressure on the calendar 20 days before due date. If the due date is the 40th week of pregnancy, this makes her at 37 weeks plus one day. The baby is already at term. Also, the fetal heart rate is clocked at 150 beats per minute which is normal. The original script was written by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods for Paramount, and then was submitted to John Krasinski, who co-wrote it and decided to direct it. In addition to directing, Krasinski co-stars with wife Emily Blunt as the married couple. The first line of voiced dialogue isn't spoken until about 38 minutes into the film. The movie only contains about 25 lines of voiced dialogue, although sign language dialogue is used extensively. director John Krasinski has said that the single greatest compliment he received regarding the film, was in a tweet from the master of the horror story himself, Stephen King: "A QUIET PLACE is an extraordinary piece of work. Terrific acting, but the main thing is the SILENCE, and how it makes the camera's eye open wide in a way few movies manage Newborn twins Ezekiel and Evangelina Cavoli played unnamed Baby Abbott. Everyone on set was very nervous about putting the babies in the padded box, but the parents were supportive and the scenes were shot as quickly as possible to minimize any possible risk. Emily Blunt encouraged John Krasinski to direct the film. John Krasinski said he wrote the script with wife Emily Blunt in mind for the role, but was hesitant to ask her fearing she might either turn it down or accept it for him. Blunt mentioned in interviews that she had initially recommended a friend to Krasinski for the project. Krasinski had not hired the actress, and after reading and loving the screenplay, Blunt told her husband she wanted to be involved with the film and play the role. This film marks the first time real-life couple John Krasinski and Emily Blunt star alongside each other. They both appeared in The Muppets (2011), but did not share any scenes.

i thought of you as I was watching this movie because it reminded me of Signs (which we both love dearly). There's something wonderful about a supernatural thriller that's told from a family's point of view, and I think it's that watching something terrifying unfold on a global scale but from the lens of just a few people makes it more relatable and therefore believable and frightening.

As much as I agree with most of this review, I found it particularly hard to grasp that these characters would decide to have a baby in this world, one of the most uncontrollably loud beings on the planet.

I think the baby was an attempt to re-do after their first kid died. They wanted to try again. Repopulating the earth is a common strategy after an event like this. No more babies= no more human race. They couldn't give into the fear.

Only nitpick without spoiling anything is 1 time is a coincidence 2 times should spark an idea but jeez 3 times and it's already too late. I am pissed at one of the characters for noticing this the first time which could have saved a life.

Since she didn't realize it the first time, then your theory of "one time is a coincidence, two times sparks an idea" holds true. Did she notice the monster being thwarted the "2nd" time? I don't think so. It was banging around the outside of the truck the whole time. If she wasn't looking, wouldn't necessarily notice that correlation between her ear piece and the monster's weakness.

I noticed that some people questioned as to how they still had electricity. Well, the movies suggested that there are other survivors so electric and water services can still be supplied. Even if it has to come from underground and fortified bunkers.
