I agree. It honestly bums me out to see so many folks on KZbin commenting how much they dislike it, especially when the things they dislike are objectively wrong. I have no personal interest in Jon or any of them doing well, but for a movie like this that was clearly SO meticulously written and thought out, to have folks say it’s bad because it lacked this or that or didn’t explain certain points when really it contained everything and just went over their heads, is upsetting a bit. Not saying everyone can’t have their own opinions, but when folks are basing those opinions on falsehoods it’s unfair for the film. At least most critics love this film. I’m just glad to see a positive comment is all, haha. So sick of scrolling thru and seeing “the film sucked bc of…” and have it be some objectively incorrect reason. I like that this review is quick and concise. Chris, you give your points well and straightforwardly, which is nice because there is no fluff or elaborate wording to confuse your viewers. You make it easy for us to understand and form our own thoughts. You appeal to logic well in that I enjoy that you just give us your own thoughts and opinions; i.e. there is no need for you to try and woo us into liking you. Your logic seems to spill into your passion which is cool because you take long pauses before you say certain things to compile your thoughts in an easy and understandable way (this reminds me a little bit of Jordan Peterson). From my viewpoint, I wish you spoke a little more on three key aspects I look for in movies: truth, beauty and goodness. It is okay that you did not, but I think your thoughts may have some deeper hidden meaning in them that maybe not everyone sees. Now I would like to discuss 7 media keys that I use: balance, attitude awareness, promotion of human dignity, truth-filled, inspiring, skillful development and motivation by or relevance to experience. Balance comes well from this review in that you are not just wooing your viewers. You are giving your raw opinion the whole time by incorporating what Krasinski has also used in his directing to create a more cohesive film. Attitude awareness comes into play in that again you are aware of what you are saying. You are being raw, which I appreciate. Krasinski had a strange attitude at first toward this film, in that he did not want to direct it at first. However, his previous co-director asked him to leave some ideas for where to take part 2 and he found himself loving his ideas and becoming the sole director for the film. The promotion of human dignity is very evident here for me. Millie is the main character of "A Quiet Place: Part II." This is so beautiful and unique because we are able to hear the world through her ears and head for parts of the movie. The muffling and static sounds that occur periodically allow for us to dive into a world with unclear hearing. This is a clear promotion of human dignity because it would have been very easy for Krasinski to disregard this disability and not incorporate it, but he used it in a beautiful way to give the audience a more authentic experience and love for MIllie. This is a truth-filled review in a simple way: you are giving us your thoughts that are generally agreed-upon truths. Props to you, Chris. Inspiring is an interesting word for this review. I do not think you were trying to inspire us per se. You were simply allowing us to ponder your thoughts and comprise our own. I like this because the film is more inspiring I would say, which I think you recognize yourself. Skillful development is masterfully seen in this movie. From camera angles to utilizing Millie's hard of hearing to a stellar cast, Krasinski does an impeccable job of developing an experience that is unique and almost unrepeatable. As you mentioned, with any horror film moving forward that uses strategies seen in this film, there is no doubt that these two movies will be mentioned and drawn from for ideas. Finally, motivation by or relevance to experience can be seen in that you are an avid movie critic. You love movies and you want to share that with the world. I like that. Of course, others will be motivated in different ways, but I think your experiences with films allow for great input to be taken seriously. I think the overarching question to be asked is this: does the media I produce promote truth, beauty and goodness in a tangible way that leads others to an experience of something beyond themselves? If the answer is a firm yes, then you are a good creator. If the answer is no, then room for improvement is always available. In all, I love this movie myself. I try not to be biased, as "The Office" is my favorite tv show of all time and has nurtured a deep-rooted love for John Krasinski in me. But the cinematography, the directing and the utilization of unique qualities around him prove that Krasinski is a big-time director with superb aspirations. I have great reason to believe he will continue to produce quality films for years to come.

The franchise, if it is a franchise with just 2 movies, is not only a brilliant horror film, but it's also fantastic as a sci-fi film. Part 2 shows the possible effects of the human condition during an extreme situation that's unlikely but very possible. The narrative between the boat people in contrast to the island people is brilliant storytelling.

It’s too bad he slept on Midsommar. That film had a tremendous opening. Can’t think of a better one in any recent memory. It pains me to see his superficiality, cynicism, and overall misunderstanding prevent fair analysis, since he loved Hereditary. Perhaps he was triggered by the cult aspect, which may have struck a chord with his growing up with Jehovah’s Witnesses, or maybe he went in with a narrow mindset-expecting another Hereditary (a film with different goals from Midsommar). He’s given other films a second chance, like Once upon a Time in Hollywood and Avengers: Infinity War, so I wish he would rewatch Midsommar or watch the director’s cut and reevaluate. Oh well. TL;DR: It’s too bad he couldn’t see that (or many other things) in Midsommar. Don’t think it’s great? That’s okay. I guess I’m just stuck with tens of thousands of people, including Martin Scorsese, Bong Joon-ho, Nicolas Cage, Jordan Peele, Ariana Grande, Mindy Kaling, and many more.
