In this video Mufti Abu Layth responds to Sheikh Yasir Qadhi’s khutbah ‘The Importance of Orthodoxy in Islam’. Mufti Abu Layth provides a summary of and response to Dr. Qadhi's three main points:
1. It is unacceptable to reinterpret Quranic ayaat via reason.
2. Hadith authenticity is certain and Hadith rejection via creating doubt in the sources of hadith is heresy.
3. Any new radical interpretations is heresy and deviation; tantamount to declaring oneself a new Prophet.
In addition, the following specific issues are examined:
-How can the Quran both continue to unlock new meanings for people and simultaneously have it's understandings already developed?
-What is Sheikh Yasir Qadhi arguing for in his khutba?
-What are the origins of Sheikh Yasir’s arguments?
-What are the origins and key concepts of Wahhabism?
-How did Sheikh Yasir’s thinking evolve over time, even becoming unorthodox in nature?
-How do Salafis reconcile the belief in following the majority while themselves being in the minority?
-How to interpret the story of Ibrahim (a.s.) and the Birds in the Quran
-How to interpret the story of the story of Ibrahim (a.s.) and the Fire in the Quran?
-How to interpret the story of the Disciples of Jesus (a.s.) and the Table in the Quran?
-How to interpret the story Jesus (a.s) birth in the Quran?
-How to understand Evolution from a Quranic perspective?
The video concludes with Mufti offering a personal message to Sheikh Yasir Qadhi.

The reason why Mufti Abu Layth has clarity is because of his open mindedness and sincerity, unlike Yasir Qadhi who seems closed minded and comes up with ridiculous statements such as "whoever has studied hadith know their certainty " Come on mufti demolish them...but thoda decorum maintain karo yaar.

Yasir qadi must be speechless listening to genius mufti Abu Layth. Islam has been accepted by other religion's people based on reason and it's authenticity not by dogmatic belief.

With regards to evolution: Quranic verse of Surah Bakarah- "Ataj'alu fiha mayyufsida fiha wayasfiku dima?" Could this be alluding to the Killer Ape theory? Also, it appears Adam was not the first Human but rather the only human to whom which all modern man decends from. Also, is the forbidden fruit a symbolism for coitus? Evolution is a theological science that needs more research. I would also like you to consider the lecture of Prof. Rana Dajani on the the topic: "Evolution stories, where do they end?" Available on KZbin. Refreshing.

Concerning Maryam alayha salam and her being a virgin or not. Why did her people react in such a way, when she came with the baby? They thought that she had comitted adultery, so she couldn't have been married at the time: And in time she returned to her people, carrying the child with her. They said: "O Mary! Thou hast indeed done an amazing thing! (27) O sister of Aaron! Thy father was not a wicked man, nor was thy mother a loose woman!" (28) Thereupon she pointed to him. They exclaimed: "How can we talk to one who [as yet] is a little boy in the cradle?" (29) [But] he said: "Behold, I am a servant of God. He has vouchsafed unto me revelation and made me a prophet, (30) and made me blessed wherever I may be; and He has enjoined upon me prayer and charity as long as I live, (31) and [has endowed me with] piety towards my mother; and He has not made me haughty or bereft of grace. (32)"Hence, peace was upon me on the day when I was born, and [will be upon me] on the day of my death, and on the day when I shall be raised to life [again]!" (19, 27-33) Why did she hide and give birth under a tree? If she was married and pregnant, she could have had the delivery at home! And by the way, Isa alayhi salam is speaking as a baby from the cradle here. Is there a rational explanation for this too?

Concerning Ibrahim alayhi salam and the fire. There are a lot of examples in the Qur'an of people not believing, even when seeing clear miracles. The best example is the wahy coming down to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and the Quraysh still rejecting him.

Concerning Ibrahim alayhi salam and the birds. What was the miracle with the birds obeying Ibrahim alayhi salam? How did this calm his heart? Animals obey people all the time, without them being increased in iman. Now dead birds coming to life would increase everybodys iman:)

Salaam. I like your thought process and a lot of what you talk about makes sense for me. However I do find it disturbing when prominent figures in Islam do videos or talk about each other’s perspectives by name. There was no need to direct a video at Yasir Qadi - you simply could maintain the respect you say you have and make a video on your views addressing orthodox Islam without directing it at anyone or making a mockery? Surely this would be more respectful to each other and keep the dialogue credible? :(

The sermon by yasir qadhi was directed at MALM. Personally I think it's silly, if you're trying to refute someone just use their name. There's no reason to play games and say "oh SOMEONE said such and such" when we all know who it's referring to. MALM should have the right to respond as well.

@oddizzee Another thing I think is utterly stupid is how yasir qadhi refuses to have a dialogue with malm, yet he'll have a public dialogue with a christian apologist.

Concerning Isa alayhi salam being mentioned alongside the other prophets and them having fathers. Wasn't Iblis also included among the angels, even if he was a jinn? Isn't there a principle in the Arabic language that speaks of the majority, even if there is someone there not really belonging to them?
