Weed took me over without me realizing. I gave up other things in favor of weed. I would go through the whole day just looking forward to smoking weed at night. Almost nothing else mattered. It was really bad, and the worst thing about it is that when youre in the midst of this kind of addiction, youre deceiving yourself thinking its good for you.

It may sound a bit esoteric......but the notion of reward is a central message of the Bhagavad Gita ( hindu scriptures). The basic message is that you cannot fully predict the outcome of any of your actions. If you are motivated by the desire for reward, this means that you will often be disappointed as you can never truely know the consequences of you actions. The "reward" will often not be quite what you really wanted, and this realisation makes you try harder to get the reward that you feel you really deserve. Once again, the reward may well not quite live up to expectations, so you end up just locked cycle. The central message is that you can control your actions, but you cannot truely control the outcome of your actions. True happiness can only come from acting in good faith with no expectation of reward. Basically - live in the moment. There is also a section that describes the types of happiness that a human can acheive. It describes the happiness that comes from "indolence, sleep and intoxication...." by saying "...both at the beginning and at the end, this happiness is an illusion"

This one’s difficult but there is a good balance you can find as a parent. I can’t wait to finish work so I can squeeze my son and be the role model for him that nobody was for me. You can seek rewards as long as you can balance it, no need to ruin excitement just carefully choose what you’re looking forward to..

For me it was a reward, but not always. Sometimes a cope, or like "today sucked fuck this" or "I don't want to think about this anymore" (it never stopped the thoughts I wanted it to. trauma shit). Im like 4+ months sober. It took me two years but one day I got home and got to the point of "am I gonna smoke" and it was finally a no.

Using your own logic the “I can’t wait to go home to smoke weed” is the addictive voice in your head. If you learn to overcome that and practice moderation you have overcome your addiction. Rewards don’t have to be a daily thing every evening and take you out of the moment. You hold a very biased opinion.
@SimonAckerman
@SimonAckerman 7 ай бұрын
I totally agree with you. I used to be someone that was was addicted to weed both physically and mentally, I was physically addicted and had the insomnia, mood swings and all those terrible withdrawals even after a short period of abstaining. The trouble is people are being told to quit cold turkey and "ignore the addictive voice in your head" which can have some very, very harmful side effects and the dangers are not being made clear to people. There's not enough warnings that people may be safer to taper their use or cut down instead. It's just a narrative that weed is just very bad and it's consequences, nothing much at all about all the positives of this plant.. Now I smoke at the weekend or every 2 weeks and have got over the addiction to weed and have proper REM sleep, I don't feel terrible, I work on my side hustle, I'm in a relationship and I've saved myself a ton of money etc etc. It takes time but your body and mind eventually will get used to this and it will become normal to smoke less and less if this is something you wish to do. I appreciate it's not for everyone and it's all about mindset. Staying that you are an "all in person" or "all or nothing" person again is the addictive voice in your head that Dr Frank speaks of. I go all day now and don't need to think about rewarding myself in the evening, I look forward to Friday or Saturday nights instead and if I wanted to go months without weed or quit completely I could do this easy now with no severe side effects @@stirling9776

I can absolutely identify with you in terms of using weed as a reward, and how it eventually led me to losing myself. I've only been watching your videos for under a month, but as you have, my rewards are different now. I look forward to steak and potatoes after work, or my citrus salad before taking my kid to school. After not dreaming for 14 years I now have super weird dreams I can spend time trying to figure out the meaning of. I look forward to eventually passing a drug test and getting a better paying job, or maybe dating again and not having to explain my drug addiction, being more present and a better role model for my kid. I still enjoy music without being high, maybe even more so. This new lifestyle is like the Wizard of Oz for me, I'm getting my brains and my heart back. Thank you for your videos, Dr. Frank, I appreciate what you do, and I'll continue to watch your videos bc I feel like I learn something new and can identify with some aspect of every video you make.

In all honesty whatever your addiction is with work and reward can do this, whether it's porn/fap or weed at night "only" a couple beers after work* or I only smoke 1-2 cigs at night helps end my day* all these can affect your next day maybe not as much cig but there's many reasons not to smoke them, it's the release of dopamine which turns into overload of it somehow.

I was never smoking for a reward, just for experimental purposes, i wanted to know why something like that is illegal and then 'reefer madness' snaps back my mind "I may be a propaganda and racistic but i taught you an important lesson", the effects were neutral, never rewarding, i didn't want to repeat the next times since i didn't feel like, but i like discussing, talking about it, sharing with other people, even looking up dutch coffeeshops and the beautiful way they're decorated, the feedback tourists get, the culture, Jamaica, not just smoking itself, but the whole big picture and emphasis that is caught and not solely regarding weed as a drug to use just to feel, but also learn, and study about it, reading written material, medically and scientifically documented, I love the videos but here lays the problem, if a particular strain that feels pleasant i will smoke it, even if the effects are unpredictable but pleasant i will smoke as a reward, but when a strain that has neutral or effect that is not necessarily pleasant is likely safer for me to smoke because it is less likely that i will continue, many of us just want a path in life and don't know what we do with our lives.

With weed and psychedelics there's always middle shades of grey, the demon is not as bad we thought it was or over-exxagerated with Propaganda and reefer madness but the drug isn't entirely harmless without it's risks or something that would be discouraged or not advisable for people of particular backgrounds with predisposition to psychotic illness but again, the groups of people with ultra-high risk for psychosis may still use in moderation and be okay while taking antipsychotics given they generally have a history of psychosis, but otherwise it's relatively safer than alcohol and cigarettes, and cigarettes was one of the most addictive things i've smoked on my own, and i didn't enjoy weed on my own as i enjoyed with a friend and experimenting on it with someone who has more experience because set and setting really matter and smoking alone with music and stuff can feed the monologue itself, but weed is an excellent tool, not really meant for recreational purposes where you get the buzz, because it's a different buzz you get from alcohol, alcohol is predictable but harmful and poisonous, red wines can be drank in moderation and the body tolerates alcohol well.@@stirling9776

I smoke all day everyday. Sometimes you just need an edible broski. Maybe a even a tincture. It's not all about smoking my guy. Substance abuse is serious. Weed is def one of those addictions. But I can't stop. 😂

I got a question i need help with. I have been using weed to fall asleep. So that means every night before bed i would smoke a kings spliff maybe 2 sometimes. This guaranteed me peaceful sleep. Now I might wake up feeling groggy but still managed to sleep. However everytime i try an quit i end up getting 2 hour sleep which isn’t always during the night either. Last year I attempted to quit twice and made it to 3weeks however sleep was still at 2hrs. How long would it take for my brain to start releasing sleep chemicals as normal? So i can sleep without trying so damn hard

If you have access to a sauna get in there and rotate it with cold water immersion or cold shower. Do that 3-4 rounds and you'll sleep like a baby. Also get direct sunlight right away in the morning it'll kickstart your melatonin.

I’ve been off of weed for a good 2 weeks now just to see if I felt any different I really do enjoy it after a good workout to listen to music and stretch. I never really thought much about it but I’ve noticed I’m getting more quality sleep and I’m a little more talkative and take my work more seriously I think it’s better to just stay sober it’s really not worth it if you want to be successful in life it’s legal in my state but I feel overall better. Say nope to dope I’m still battling my nicotine addiction it’s hard when everybody I work with does it though… we’ll all make it we got this!

Bro good afternoon, I'm going through a strong episode of CHS My detoxes are lasting 4 to 5 days since the pain is unbearable and smoking small doses calms the effects and allows me to eat. I would like to do a detox without interruptions, a dr. I recommend morphine (analfin 20mg) for the pain, do you recommend that it be a good idea to take it? I also have a doubt, what about Adol? I would greatly appreciate your response

23 days clean :) feel AMAZING, and it’s so unbelievable. I use to think I was smoking to help me eat, sleep, help anxiety. But now that I’ve stopped, I have MORE of an appetite, go into DEEPER sleep, and anxiety is sooo much less. Feel as though I have more confidence as well as just simply getting my life back. I watched your videos in the first week when my withdrawal symptoms were very bad to help get an understanding of why I was feeling the things I was. So thank you ! God bless you

How do you feel about 1mg to 5mg micro dosing mints? I don't feel high from them but they curb anxiety. Seems way better than Xanax and no noticeable side effects IMO.

Day 6 off bud, tobacco, coffee. Switching to decaf black tea (1-3 cups a day). Has small amount of caffeine i know but still less than what i was drinking before - which was 1/2 strong coffees, 4+ strong black teas per day, also occasionally coca cola. Been drinking tea since i was a toddler and coffee since late teens. Your comment in your live about nicotine and thc users also needing energy drinks(caffeine) to counteract the adrenal fatigue of addiction of thc & nicotine really hit home. Been smoking bud mixed with tobacco consistently for circa 9 years (had 2 or 3 tolerance breaks over the years lasting no more than 90 days). Your comment about not being able to fully enjoy yourself during the day because you can't wait to go home and smoke also hit home with me. I often smoked all day in my earlier years, tried keeping to evenings in recent years thinking I was on top of it, but was still puffin a good 8th a night. I hardly ever drink alcohol because I often get bad hangovers with vomiting. Have binge drinked plenty in the past, but it was more in my teens/early 20s for fun, never really developed a habit tho. I don't smoke cigarettes when 'sober' I would smoke a lot of cigarettes when drinking tho. I noticed how angry and moody I am on those tolerance breaks, also during the day if I haven't smoked yet. Feel like my heart isn't right, tightness, small flutters and palpitations. Enough is enough

I'm on day 8 off bud tobacco coffee. Energy levels are low, but that's mainly from the lack of caffeine. Getting to sleep earlier and getting a decent night sleep, except I have a nightmare/bad dream every night. They seem to be normal dreams, but always seem to take a weird or bad turn. Waking up shocked or in fear. Not good

I started smoking weed at 16 and quit at around 20 due to worsening anxiety. After quitting, I turned to black and milds, which led to increased use. When I decided to quit those, I fell into a depression and started using vapes and alcohol instead. Although I wouldn't call myself an alcoholic, I drank more than the average weekend drinker from 22 to 24. I quit drinking in September 2023, just before my 25th birthday, only to go back to smoking weed. Working and living near a vape shop and CBD dispensary made it easy to smoke flower almost every day for the past 4 and a half months. It has been a week since my last time smoking weed, and I'm currently struggling to stay away from nicotine, which is proving to be the hardest part. Ultimately, I want to eliminate all substances and prioritize my health going forward and this channel has giving me so much faith!

Alcohol and Cigarettes are much more rewarding but as well the most harmful, both have predictable and pleasant effects, I chain smoked cigarettes but barely puffed weed, maybe once a week, 2 puffs and a low potency product but it wasn't great quality so it gave me this motion sickness spinning feeling that wasn't pleasant or tranquilizing, and i prefer not to use any substance of any sort with my ultra-high risk for psychosis but i never went to emergency room or panic attack despite a diagnosis of anxiety, just really strong spins and vivid flashing lights if the strain was high potency and i never knew what i got, and i always mixed in tobacco, but now i'm free from all drugs, involving cigarettes, alcohol, but valium is the hardest to kick, i don't want to use anything for recreational use but this valium is one that keeps me calm and concentrated, the higher the amount the more pleasant. No drug is entirely harmless without it's imminent risks and harms. It involves prescription pills, legality here does not change biology.
