I love having spiders in the house, they're like free housekeeping for other pests. Had one in the basement windowsill for quite some time. I'd drop ants and any other undesirables into its web. Was a sad day when it finally passed.

I am happy with spiders if they don’t cross my path. Accidentally released a jumping spider into my room, never saw him again- this is how I like it lol. The minute a spider surprises me though, they get squashed. Out of reflex, of course. Had a spider jump right on my chest from the trees and, well, couldn’t help what I did next. I usually try to let any spiders I see go, but I live in the Midwest and have brown recluse. My sister got bit and her foot began to turn black... I know she personally has found two big black widows and she killed them both. At the time, my nephews were babies, so I don’t blame her. also I have cats, and I’m not letting a potentially deadly beast hurt my babies lol That being said, spiders like jumping spider and orb weavers are fun guests to have around. Generally, they like to stay out of my way and look quite beautiful, so I appreciate them.

I used to hate spiders but started watching videos about tarantulas and somehow became fascinated. Now I have my own Grammostola pulchra (Brazilian Black Tarantula) and love her! I’ve had her for about 2.5 years now and she is getting huge fast. Even though I now love tarantulas I have still not been a huge fan of true spiders. Watching your video about these little spiderlings makes me kinda feel better about them. Keep us updated if they end up staying around and maybe it’ll take away the rest of my spider dislike by watching them grow up! Thanks for another cool video!

I loved this video! Some years ago there was a garden spider [fat, strong legs, orb web - don't know what species she was] in my conservatory. I used to feed her flies if I caught them in my house because I hate the sprays. At first she would rush to her hidey-spot whenever I approached, but soon I noticed that she was calm if I was holding the blue plastic tweezers which I used to put the 'meals' into her web. She was brighter than I could ever have expected. Normal house spiders don't seem to be as clever as garden spiders...

Three or so years ago baby spiders hatch in my room so I shut the door and slept on the couch in the living room downstairs for a few weeks. Then baby spiders hatched in the living room and I moved back upstairs. I had nightmares of spiders for months after. When something like that happens and you already have a fear of spiders, it just makes you think even more negatively about them.

I thought it was a false widow but i think its too big to be one now, its still growing.

But they have become less and less every year. With only seeing 3 total in the last 4 years. One this year. But many upon many of these cute little things. I welcome them in my garden and yard. Orb weavers will not permanently take up residence indoors unless you live in warmer climates with the windows constantly open - there is simply no flying insects to land in the web. The mother often lays her eggs away from her regular home. On this trek, she probably wandered into your home. It'd be best to lead the babies outside, if you want for them to survive.

I had a pair of little spiders beside my bed. They were cute and made really pretty webs that were more 3 dimensional than most spiders (maybe cause they were built in a corner?). Unfortunately in the fall when stink bugs starts migrating in, they kept catching them and the smell was so bad I had to relocate the spiders. They were punching well above their weight too, they were like a quarter the size.

the 'dead spider' looks more like a skin/molding. i know a thing or two about spiders having had a few as pets (big ones), but you can keep these as pets as well. Build a little glass terrarium for them to live in. Feed them fruitflies, and later larger prey. Watch them build their webs. it's great fun. if you are lucky (and up early) you might catch them molding, which they do several times to grow. it's great to watch them catch prey.

They can withstand and survive harsh winds and rain no problem, for months. I have seen a spider hidden above in the light which is really bright LED and I'm not sure why it's there unless it's to catch food that would be attracted to the light. Being a spider nerd from Europe too, I strongly suspected a Zygiella at the start too, although I had a small doubt with a Steatoda nobilis untill you said they were babies. As for why you found babies so out of their usual time of emergence, it is due to the fact that they were born inside your house, which has constant temperatures. Field guides usually give infos on birth periods for spiders found in the wild and don't or rarely account for spiders living inside, another classic example of this is the whole Pholcidae family (especially Pholcus phalangioides, a very common spider that can breed inside houses all year long)

The amount of eyes and eye pattern are an excellent clue in identifying spiders. Here in the Midwest, people think any spider that is brown is a brown recluse due to their reputation. Despite the recluse not exactly being uncommon, wolf spiders are periodically mistaken. I had gone kayaking with my brother before and he had mistaken the many fishing spiders along the river line for brown recluse, and a general contractor I had worked for had told the owner of her house that all the large lime-green, white and black striped garden spiders were the infamous brown recluse, despite them being not being brown whatsoever whilst also being orbweavers. A very key factor in identifying the recluse is that they have 6 eyes, rather than 8, as well as the eyes being fused in sets of 2s, symmetrically patterned with a pair in the center, just as the wolf spider lycosidae having eight eyes with 2 very large ones arranged towards the center.

Soaking the spider could have helped with the flexibility. But it looks like you did just fine. Great job! This was a very interesting video.

It’s the season in temperate Northern climates, my house is also hatching out baby spiders right now. They eat the gnats from the houseplants so they’re welcomed guests.

I didn't know the species, but I immediatly thaought about your mystery spiders as spiderlings. I have had a small family of some species of Araneus right on my window for years now. It seems like at least one female individuum stays behind in summer to repopulate the place. It's faszinating to watch the young ones try to build their first nets (which led me to the conclusion that there is some kind of learning or at least mastering process involved) plus it's like a free, self-sustaining fly-web keeping my room free of mosquitoes. Well, mostly. And most interesting: Over the years the behavioral pattern of the window spiders seemed to change. While in the early years they never went into the house (Araneus are open field spiders, not cave ones), now more and more often at least the younglings come into the room and seek shelter from harsh sunlight or rain. And they seem to be more social, with the siblings staying together at the window for a far longer time now then six or seven years ago.

I get spiderlings inside quite a bit because Australia - they hatch in droves & fly off on weblines that catch the wind so we get loads landing on the washing so inevitably some get taken inside. I rescue them and take outside. I like spiders. I keep daddy-long-legs in my house to catch ants (I'd honestly rather the spiders than the ants) and we get the occasional huntsman who I generally ignore - though they do like to sit in doorframes and land on us when they're startled by us opening the door. We haven't been bitten yet though, so they can stay too.

A little tip when manipulating the spider to get a better picture if you use warm water and a tiny bit of dish soap it will make the spider go soft and spread out it would save you some time.
