I hope nobody ever forgets Bonham,in a world of great drummers today. I can't play all of JHB's grooves but I feel great when playing some Zep.

Yes, another help for mastering the Bonham engine, going to try it for sure, when I get it right, I could see how one would want to do it for twenty minuets, but I have been warned, don't do it till it hurts else its going to do damage, good advice, thank you, Terry.

I’ve been working on the Bonham engine for a few weeks now and it falls apart at a certain tempo. I narrowed it down to the bass foot and snare hand just as you say. I was getting frustrated something fierce but this video made me feel like a normal human drummer again. Thanks

Truly, one of the keys is to think of it as an exercise machine; that you know-if you keep at it-you will get there. It might take some time, but when you get there, it's like a SELF-ACTUALIZATION. A golden day!!

Like the reverse sticks. I find it’s useful because when you go back to the normal grip it feels lighter and easier. Odd but true. For me anyhow. Like practising with a heavier tennis racquet then you pick up the usual one and it’s like kapow!

Why is it every time I try this I end up with my right hand and right foot and my left hand and left foot in unison ??
@ajbambino3 жыл бұрын
Probably because that's how your trained naturally so your body tries to trick you into what's comfortable. It's important at those times you slow it down, get it right and get it tight, then speed up
@jehouse863 жыл бұрын
I have the same problem. Left foot left hand. Switching feels like trying to learn how to walk again. 🤦♂️
@bennyboyyonkers46493 жыл бұрын
It's just natural. Whatever habit you do constantly you pick up as natural. I cannot do this, I work on the Engine whenever I can, and it's simple as slowing it down and growing the limb independence. It's painful 😂, but slow practice gives me an almost fulfilling feeling. Best of luck with this!!

Eh....You want to improve your weak side you need to start playing left handed! You need to install a left ride cymbal and then start learning how to play your music and all fills then start with left hand . That's the way to become ambidexterous. All te truly best drummers in the world have been doing this..
