Haven’t read any of Everett’s work yet but I did see the movie American Fiction (based on Erasure) and it was absolutely fantastic! It also won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay so you’re very on point with saying his work would do well on the screen! ✨

You look great in the glasses and that time you had the straight hair combined with big glasses will have you looking like a 70s gal revival! 😃😺 I can love and hate both ambiguous or clear-cut endings, depending on how they are carried out 👍

20:56 I see quite often that open, ambiguous endings are used as an artistic choice to make the story seem more interesting and cool rather than actually fitting the narrative. Sometimes it works but leaves you feeling like something's missing. That's why open endings are becoming my least favorite

Acutally, the way you were sitting ( im assuming you were squatting, full deep squat ) is actually a very important skill. And a lot of the people can't do that, but it's a very valuable stretch. Would highly recommend it

I understand the need for endings. Very rarely do I appreciate or desire what amounts to a child's "pick-your-own-adventure" book or movie. So many times, unclear endings are not successful and particularly in books feel lazy, like the author couldn't really figure out how to end the book or, Heaven helps, the author thinks they are being clever like the villain in Austin Powers with his pinky at his lips. Just end the f-er already!

I finished The Trees this week and I really liked the first 100 pages or so too, however i really REALLY lost my patience with the inflation of the plot, the increasing silliness and the tired, stupid Trump portrayal at the end. 2.5 stars maybe in the end which is a shame
