Hi, as an Italian viewer, tiny little correction: Padania is ALSO the name of a separatist movment but PRIMARILY it is the name of an Italian zone, composed of the Padana plane, the biggest plane of northern Italy. In general it is both used as a political and geographical term, probably the creators of the game wanted to make a reference to the manifacturers of italian small arms being located mostly in northern italian planes and did not know of the secondary political meaning (because honestly outside of italians nobody knows it). So no, no controversy there, exept for people who REALLY like making everything political.

I agree, but actually the name of the movement who wanted the autonomy of Padania wasn't Padania, but Lega Nord. So technically the name doesn't refer to the movement but to the so called geographical region (as you said, the most correct term is pianura padana). Quite surprised the developers chose this name to substitute Beretta

@@baker90338 well about those "high details", its a shame they gave up and dropped the ball. Just look at the hmtech 501 and glocks and the fact that they still haven't fixed those glaring animation errors in years tells you that they don't put the detail in that they used to I've said this before on prev KF2 threads on Jonathon Ferguson Reacts vids, but it'd be good if they're warned ahead of time that like a third of the arsenal in KF2 is now inflated with low-effort copies of the other half. Most the HRGs are fun additions to gameplay, but are still just lazy paintjob/mesh swaps of previous weapons, no new animations, or models for that matter - while all the weapons that were released from launch up until the Seal Squeal in mid-2019 are actually really well done. Unlike the DLC weapons It'd be cool if they used a zed time weekly server too for slow-mo footage to show alongside the normal speed ones, get the most outta the mo-capped animations - as well as emphasising to Jonathon things like the range of different animations for chambered and empty reloads. specially when it comes to dual pistols which results in 6 different, awesome mo-capped animations. Basically, I reckon as long as they show Jonathon mostly non-HRG weapons and maybe the DLC nagant, and definitely some dual pistols with the different reloads (empty, chambered, normal and fast reload skills etc) then they'd do KF2 players justice. Now I think about it, maybe some of the more fun HRGs with interesting gameplay implictions, like the Vampire, Stunner, Tommy Boom and Healththrower? Also not sure what video I heard it from or how true this is but I remember hearing from that when firing some of the guns some have parts and panels animated to vibrate and whatever like they would do in real life (talking more than just slides and charging handles); I guess since Zed Time meant more opportunity for polish in case someone was looking at the gun’s firing animation instead of the zeds

As an 3D artist myself let me tell you this: there is always the temptation to make things look more shiny than things are in reality. First, because it looks cooler, second because the PBR shading model that all modern games use is a estimation and in order to get things really physically accurate you have to work with realistic values derived from physics, which many artists don't do because they are lazy (I am guilty of that myself!). Physical accuracy also often looks too dull and might appear unrealistic to the human eye (which is an error of judgement). There needs to be a lot of testing in different lighting scenarios and sometimes a realistic look makes all the details an artist spend a lot of time on disappear. The easiest fix is to push the roughness factor more towards shiny and suddenly all the details pop out. The other factor is the fact that many artists don't have access to real firearms due to strict weapon laws, so many don't have the chance to compare the virtual version with a real version they can hold in their hands and examine.

In layman's terms: glossier textures look more realistic to the human eye because, to the human eye, if something like, say, a paint finish for a car in a racing game doesn't have _enough_ reflectivity, our brain renders that as being flat and dull, even if the actual finish being replicated is of very high gloss.

also game engine can make same model with same texture look vastly different from 1 engine to another, that gap has decreased somewhat with dx12/dxr supported engines but it can still be a significant difference. like you could make a rubber duck model and texture that looks very realistic in unity, import it into lets say unreal engine without modifications to model, textures and engine, there it might be far too shiny and plastic-like in appearance, then import it into source 2, there it might look flat and dull in comparison to unity

I used to be a deputy sheriff. Less lethal shotguns, at least the ones we had, would leave a neon green powder to help you find where your bean-bags are going. Side-story: One of my academy instructors was a commander on the regional SWAT team before he switched to teaching. He said they got called to a barricaded subject in a garage. The subject had been wounded a couple 9mm rounds. They deployed a less lethal shotgun. If I remember correctly they got him in the thigh and the shoulder with beanbags and he surrendered immediately.

Huge fan of the show! Love seeing channels that dish out that knowledge on firearms! A small correction though: The Beretta depicted in the game is actually a Beretta 92X Performance noted by the frame mounted safety, the downward sweep of the disassembly switch, the oversize size of the paddle to act as a "gas pedal", The rounded trigger guard and most notably the new style of Brigadier slide with no safety. Funny enough the 92x Performance is a HEAVY pistol which is not really suited for much other than competition roles and this one seems to feature some more standard night sights rather than the adjustable ones that come stock on the gun. Another funny thing: The magazine shown in game during the reload is a regular 92FS style magazine but they modeled the 10 round version! The 92x comes standard with 17 round magazines at that! Still, love the show! Keep up the great content!

Re: shotguns only being designed to chamber specialty ammunition, my mind goes to the 1920s-era Greener Police Shotgun, a single-shot shotgun (based on the Martini-Henry action) which could only chamber and fire its own specially-made bottlenecked shells, in order to make it more difficult for criminals to use stolen shotguns (since they'd also have to acquire the special ammo to run them). Not really less-lethal by the modern definition, but an interesting footnote nonetheless. Re: the UMP, I can think of one (admittedly minor) advantage to using the 9mm version: logistics. If you've got lots of 9mm firearms in service already, it saves you having to introduce a new, non-standard pistol caliber for this one weapon. Probably not a concern for a SWAT team, especially in the US where .45 ACP is already extremely popular, but it bears thinking about. Re: the SCAR, it's often underestimated just _how much_ military surplus gear gets handed out to police forces here in the US. To me, it's pretty plausible that a rifle that was once in US Navy service could end up in the hands of a SWAT team member down the line. (Especially given that USSOCOM have actually been trying to get rid of their SCAR-L stockpile, in favor of SCAR-H 5.56mm conversions.)

A video I would love to see is follow up to some of the non-video game questions Jonathan has asked over the course of the series. IE asking about less lethal shotguns at 1:33, asking if anyone knows of other examples of "this is the only one I know of" guns, or other things not asking about the games themselves.

15:56 In CoD MW 2019 if you pick "Sleight of Hand" weapon perk it changes some animations, reloading included. And in case of tube feeded shotguns an reload animation is depicted as over the shoulder reload.

I recall seeing somewhere (probably Forgotten Weapons) a shotgun modified to shoot taser shots. Those pump actions have bolts designed to be incompatible with lethal 12ga rounds. They can be loaded with them but the bolt face design keeps the firing pin from actually setting off the primers.

Since Johnathan says he likes to see realistic ammunition management, the VR game _Into the Radius_ will definitely tickle his fancy! Aside from the usual more realistic firearm interactivity you typically get with VR shooters, this one also includes the need to manually load your magazines (which are physical objects in the game that need to retained, since you can't use the gun without the correct magazine), bullet by bullet, from ammo boxes, in addition to needing to clean and maintain your guns and magazines. I'm not talking an option in a menu either! To clean the barrel, you need to tear off a bit of paper, attach it to the cleaning rod, and jam it into the barrel and move it back and forward. To clean the outside, you spray on some WD-40 and scrub it with a toothbrush. And you need to get at *ALL* areas of the gun, it won't be properly clean unless you scrub *EVERYWHERE!*

Heat haze on a weapon happened quite a bit for me. Most of the time on a machine gun, yes, but i have had it happen with the m4 occasionally. Mostly due to temperature outside or humidity.

As much as I love Ready or Not, I don't think I can forgive them for the sights on the G36. I really love the front hooded post that H&K use, and while I can use optics because this isn't SWAT 3 or 4, it's an important aesthetic feature. Tossing on AR-style parts onto these weapons (especially replacing the stock on the Mk-16) feels really weird. But hey, I guess they'll know if someone steals their models.

I have my G36C with the KAC open rail and it helps a lot w/ the reloads. Especially since the G36 lacks a bolt release. Real estate at 12oclock is reduced but the gun also struggled at 300m. Therefore a red dot is as good as you need to go given the 9” barrel

Some of us in Portuguese Army due to the new SCAR-Ls we got in the last recent years, more experienced soldiers, put the charging handle on the same side of the trigger hand, like an experience ak user, after practice is more pratical than adjust your holding hand specially if you've big hands, from getting hit by the charging handle
@Georgexisxdead2 жыл бұрын
on the mater of the scar, many police departments in the US do aquire gear through military surplus, usually things like armored vehicles or phased out weapons no longer intended for continued military service so it's not unfeasible that someone in charge of acquiring equipment might choose a refurbished item, or dealer overstock item that was never actually delivered to the military due to some error in quantity required or funding availability.

A couple of things about the less lethal shotgun (as an instructor in such things). The noise level is a lot less when firing baton or bean bag (kinetic impact projectile in legalize) than depicted in the footage and much less than firing regular 12 gauge rounds. You don't even require hearing protection. Part the second: Though meant to be non-lethal should the need arise, a suspect pointing a weapon or such, the tactic is to fire into the face or throat. The rounds have enough energy to be lethal in this area. Still nice to see games bringing in non-lethal methods to triumph over evil.
@Whiskey11Gaming2 жыл бұрын
As a LEO who is also certified in less lethal shotguns, I can't say I was ever trained to aim for any area other than buttocks or front/back of thighs. The whole need for lethal force cover to deploy a less lethal shotgun makes the need for using an alternate aiming point kind of pointless.
@andrewrash19312 жыл бұрын
4:00 yes white powder is realistic with some less lethals, not all. We have some where they essentially have a layer of chalk or something like that on it to mark someone who’s been tagged with a less lethal round to make it more obvious they’ve been hit and with help identify people of interest if it’s at a large gathering like a “peaceful” protest for example, where someone could slip away into a crowd, and it also helps with visually seeing if the round was effective or not. (Have seen some heavily intoxicated individuals take a less lethal round before and it do nothing to deter them and barely even phase them similar to the effect Tasers can have on heavily influenced individuals.)

Second what he said about realistic ammunition management. They need to add this to more shooters, or at least make it an option. It would be a literal game changer. Full auto would only be used situationally.

That beanbag shotgun in the beginning activating one of my own pet peeves with guns in games where not every shot shows an impact if too close to an impact mark that is already there. Always disappointing when that happens. The Beretta by contrast did really nicely though.

When it comes down to these types of games, where its almost hyper realistic when it comes to the gun play, I'd personally prefer semi auto or any single shot weapon over full auto specifically for 2 reasons. Accuracy/recoil control, and ammo management. I think the simi auto g36c would be a great choice.

The shotguns in the original Insurgency game were brilliantly depicted, buckshot was effective against unarmored targets at quite a range, light armored targets it'd still work but you had to be a lot closer, and heavy armor closer again, but the slug, oh boy the slug round just decimated. Shotguns were fun in that game and actually usable. I don't know what happened in Sandstorm, because buckshot is nearly useless at range in all circumstances it seems.

So on the Mk16, I can say, you are more likely to see US SWAT Teams with AR-15 platforms, but the NRCH version of the SCAR platform has pretty much become the standard over here for all SCAR rifles, I actually just got mine not too long ago.

1:08 That´s what you say... I remember when I was on watch duty (Bundeswehr) and 2 of my fellow soldiers were at their handover during guard change... While they weren´t following exact protocol, one of our petty officers ran towards them, grabbed the gun (pretty sure that´s not protocol either) said something along the lines of "give it, I´ll show you how it´s done (security check)", pointed towards the sand box and "BAAMMM", shot gets loose... We applauded, officer of watch realized what happened, petty officer gets a proper verbal beating and that´s the story... Luckily no one got hurt, so we can book it as "funny" :)
