At this point in his career, Aaron Donald has proven that he’ll be a first ballot hall of famer. He’s been in the league for 8 seasons, and he already has 3 defensive player of the years, 7 first team all pros, and he also has been to 8 pro bowls. The question of him making the Hall of Fame is pretty much a foregone conclusion.
In this video, however, I wanted to look specifically at one game: His performance in the Super Bowl. In this game, Donald seemed pretty quiet in the first half and then all of a sudden he went on a rampage and he wrecked the Bengals in the second. Should Donald have won the Super Bowl MVP? We’ll answer that question in this video.

No. Not because he wasn’t great (he was great), but the offense needed someone to step up after OBJ went down. Kupp was doubled almost all game, and he still had a game for the ages.

Kupp had one good drive and an extra TD. 8 receptions for 92 yards and 2 td's is impressive but not MVP caliber imo.

That entire game was won through the dline which only did so well because the bengals had to stop donald, despite this he had 2 sacks and the 2 final plays that won them the game. His impact was felt every defensive play, i cant say that for kupps impact on offense

Absolutely, Donald was the most valuable person in the game. Some of the reason he didn’t get it is racial but a lot of it is offense is favored over defense.

Football is about stepping up and making the biggest plays in the biggest movements. The rams won the super bowl because of Aaron Donald. He made the 3rd and 1 stop, and even if it didn't show the 4th and 1 as a sack, he got to the qb and stopped the play from happening. He stopped the last drive, made the biggest plays for his team. Kupp was fantasy football, Stat mvp.

Can't you make that argument for Cooper Kupp? He scored the game winning TD. He had two TDs in this game and he was basically the Rams offense on the final drive

The MVP is voted on 2 minutes before the game is over. If they waited till the game is over that final defensive stand could've sealed it for Aaron. They both deserved it and I was hoping they could've co won. They should do offensive and defensive mvp's.

On that last play, you can see jamar chase wide open on the right side. If it wasn’t for Donald, that would’ve been a potential game winning touchdown for the bengals. Take a look at 0:13 Ramsey is on the floor and WR is open asking for ball

@@jonathanbarajas8314 I broke that down halfway though the video at 6:00 - The key point there is that while he was open, he was never going to be targeted given the context and structure of the play unless Burrow had 3+ seconds in the pocket. It's not reasonable to expect a throw there

Donald absolutely was the MVP. You don’t accumulate stats when you’re double teamed, but it helps your team win and that’s what MVP is about.

They definitely got it right. Donald had a good second half but Kupp had a great game. He played a bigger role than Donald and put them up by 3 on the last TD that he got creamed on and still held on to the ball.

Not true at all. Donald and that D line was the reason that game was close, when OBJ went down the rams offense went dormid for 1-1/2 quarters until that last drive. Donald made the 2 game clinching tackles, one being a hit on burrow on 4th down. He was a 1/2 sack away from Von’s super bowl record and was the sole reason burrow couldn’t hit chase on the wide open Go route on the 4th and 1 at the end of the game. Donald definitely deserved it, but Kupp did as well. Fr they shoulda done a co-MVP even though I’m usually not a fan of that

Some people don’t understand he’s a dt, and not a de like watt. Not like Donald is on the edge rushing the QB every play. Donald didn’t get the MVP cause most of the votes were in right after Kupp scored his 2nd td. Those last 2 plays out Donald way over the top. Just a bogus voting system. Kupp played good, but it wasn’t a offensive game at all. Kupp wasn’t even statistically the best WR in the game. Donald in the other hand was clearly the best player on both teams. Kupp caught passes he should have, Stafford completed passes he should have. Kupp was actually shut down and jammed most the game. Also might have cost rams points by not getting OB at half. Everybody knows Donald was the MVP, and didn’t win cause of the flawed voting system.

Yea Donald was robbed. Most of the votes were in right after Kupp scored the go ahead td. They need to make sure all 16 votes come in after the game is over. Had they waited Donald clearly wins it. He’s a DT and dominated a Super Bowl! Not like he’s on the edge rushing the QB every play, he has to run through 2-3 DL and a rb some times. It was the best defensive performance by a defender in super bowl history. Anybody who says otherwise doesn’t understand what they were watching. 2 east TD catches and 90 yards shouldn’t win u an MVP as a WR when there are other WRs in the game with similar or better numbers. It was a defensive football game, and Donald was clearly the reason the Rams won. The Rams offense underperformed. It’s a shame people in a 100 years will see Kupp was MVP and not Donald.
