Well, lets test to see if the limited slip diff friction modifier will actually quite down a whining ford power steering pump!

I thought it was something to do with the tension pulleys, or the serpentine belt, and of course, the power steering pump, thanks for poating your video, I'll keep looking for a remedy

I got a 2000 ranger, decided to change out the original factory OEM motorcraft that had developed a slight whine with a "new" (reman.) motorcraft, regretting it so much, the "new" one whines worse

Did the same exact thing with my 2009 crown victoria. Got a "new" Motorcraft steering pump and it just whines all the fuggin time now whenever I turn and give it gas. Zero leaks anywhere, however. Even replaced the high pressure line, it steers actually great. Vacuum pumped it and cycled the steering a million times and still whines and squeals. Ironically, my old 180k mile one was quiet as a mouse. Thought OEM parts were supposed to be the best option wtf...

Here a tip on ford or any steering pump whine. Make sure belt tension is correct. Too much or too little can cause a whine situation. Cheers

I have a 1995 ford f 150. I have replace pump, steering box and hoses. Vacuum bled and still have whine. Do you think it could be belt tensioner?
@fordinlinestraight3 жыл бұрын
@@rodcon66 hi It can be a combination on many things. All pumps c2 pump are usually just remained so the tolerances are out thousands of a inch. Also the c2 typically was always a under power unit for the trucks. Another reason could tire size the larger tire covers more road area which cause more Resistance. That's what I prefer stock stock and stock no lifts no over sized tires that's another topic. I use valvoline type f fluid it's cheaper than most brands. Any will do tho. And yes the belt tension matters alot. I usually tight up untill I can only flex the belt aprox 1" with about 5-10 lbs pressure. Basically you want it just tight enough so it doesn't slip on the pully. Also bleed lock to lock slowly drive it around for a bit it will sort itself out. Any air will eventually find it way out. I kind of like the whine it's signiture . Excuse typos. Also it normal to have a slight whine

@@fordinlinestraight Thanks for reply. I have replace pump 3 times at O Reillys, they have a lifetime warranty. Spent $60 on vacuum bleeder. Running type F transmission fluid per manual. Replace gearbox and both hydraulic line. Still has whining. Drove for 2 weeks without any change. I have run out of ideas. Oh and have replaced serpentine belt also. O Reillys says they will give me money back but I am not sure another pump will fix problem.

Nice video but u should Completely drain the reservoir and add Lucas power steering stop leak I have a 97 Ford ranger and it almost completely quieted the pump
@AaronsAutomotive4 жыл бұрын
I could've yes, but the power steerimg fluid is constantly circulating thruout the entire steering system from the pump. Amd it actually eneded up being a bearing on it that was bad.

@@AaronsAutomotive which bearing?
@AaronsAutomotive2 жыл бұрын
Mine ended up being the idler pulley bearing for the belt

I drilled through the hole at the valve (make2) to let oil get out of the pump.
@galesams4205 Жыл бұрын
Its the hydraulic vanes in side the pump. try removeing and replaceing the fluid revsouir there is a fine mesh screen inside whitch will suck air and not fluid. The pump is starving for fluid.

Why do so many Fords I have seen from many decades frequently have groaning power steering pumps? People often drive them that way for years though. LOL
@AzalofForossa2 жыл бұрын
Because you can't kill them, those pumps last forever. They'll groan, squeal, and scream, but by god they'll always make sure you have power steering.
