Whatz going on explorers! Today I take you through a huge suburban property with an old 1920`s bungalow. The home has more sheds than you can poke a stick at which also include extensive holding pens and stables for horses or ponies. Not everything but lots of stuff has been left behind to look at both in the sheds and home which suggest the previous occupants took only what they could not sell in a garage sale. The old bungalow needs a lot of work and is very tired and run down but has all the classic features and it mostly in original condition. The property has been snapped up by developers and will be gone in the near future. Hope you enjoy the explore! :-)

Its fun to try and piece together the previous occupant's history by what they have left behind. I'll take a guess or two :) --- I think it was originally vacated years ago, when there was a family living in it.... the children's toys, books and women's purses. When they left, they left the trivia, then the house was picked over by vandals, removing anything of value. A squatter came later, occupied that rear bedroom for a time, using that waterbed and leaving behind a lot of his clothing.... it would have been a good place to squat for a bit since the electric power was still on.... my guess too is the water was still on. ..............Smiles... all just a theory :) It brought a smile to my face when I saw that stove flashing- "the power is still on !" I almost learned a powerful lesson when doing a salvage and letting my caution down. In an old Victorian not long for being demolished, I climbed up into a garret and found a beautiful leaded glass lamp hanging from the ceiling. I instantly recognized this as a salvage gem (we had bought the full salvage rights to the property from the demo company)--- so I got a step ladder and climbed up to the light, took out a pocket knife and was going to cut the power cord. Something told me to first pull the dangling lamp switch cord..... and the light came on ! I had been but seconds away from cutting thru a live wire with my knife. The surround torn from about the fireplace was not a surprise. People would be amazed at what is often hidden behind them. In the Southeastern US, nailed behind surrounds, I have recovered many large copper cent pieces from the 1830-40's- they were nailed there as apparent good luck charms. I don't know how universal this practice was elsewhere, but regardless of where we salvage, I always look carefully behind any mantles. A fun explore... thanks for sharing it !

I hope someone takes the time to go through and pull as much reusable material as possible from this property. I always just think of all the people who have nothing, and just hope that the new owners do more that just repurpose the high dollar items- there are a lot of books and toys there that could be donated to a shelter or somewhere else they are needed. Even the horse items could be donated to a rescue, I noticed that other than the obvious items you pointed out, there were other items throughout the property that could be reused. I really cringe when these big companies buy up property and just bulldoze it, without saving things. It happens so much, here in the States, because, unless someone specifically petitions them for, say, the fencing around a property, they just bulldoze it, and put it into the landfill. Such a waste. If we all saved what we could. no one would have to do without very much. Thanks for another great explore!!!!! Gerri (SDK)

“Greed disguised as progress”. Not necessarily saying that this house could be saved, I’m certainly no inspector, but as someone said earlier, so much is wasted. When you first went in and looked at those books laying on that table in the garage, that one black book sure looked like a Bible. I really, really hope someone comes back and at the very least, saves that Bible. And I agree with all the comments saying that looks like blood in the bathroom. Kind of a dark, spooky house really but kinda cool at the same time. Great video, thanks for taking us along.

This was an interesting explore of an early 1920s Bungalow and really enjoyed viewing thanks Urbex Indigo. I love the beautiful old ceiling roses and original Bungalow door handles are worth retrieving. The section where the stove is in the kitchen is original. But the cupboards appear to be around the 1950s. It appears to have been once a place used to house horses. Such a massive property and a pity that the house cannot be restored back to glory.

Hi ya Paul! Good to see your video! Such a shame to see so much water damage on this old treasure. What was with that detail where the hall arch should be? Very strange, yes!? Was a little worried not seeing fire places or mantles in the front of the house. But oh that gigantic kitchen - awsome! Even with the 50's update. Not sure sure if you deliberately missed it and I don't want to go all Dexter either, however I did notice a fair amount of blood splatter on the walls in that Italianesque bathroom. Perhaps he gambled on the wrong horse and lost his shirt. I still can't figure out why the power is still on in the house, someone has to be paying the bill or it's cut within months. Crosley made radios and electronics back in the 1930s through 1950s. Automotive entrepreneur Powel Crosley built his first radio in 1920, as an alternative to buying a high-priced ($135) receiver for his son. He then went on to produce several low-priced, attractive models, and by 1922, Crosley was wealthy and his company was the largest radio manufacturer in the world. Crosley later bought the Cincinnati Reds baseball team, which is how the team's ballpark, Redland Field, came to be renamed Crosley Field. Crosley radios from the 1920s did not resemble the handsome cathedral, tombstone, and console models of the 1930s. Instead, they looked like something your crazy uncle would build from a kit out in the garage. These unadorned rectangular boxes, with names like the Model X, the Harko, and the Ace, were stuffed with tubes and covered with knobs, although by the end of the 1920s, some of them featured attempts at cabinetry, as in the Trirdyn Neuport and the Gembox, which featured 6 tubes, ran on alternating current rather than direct, and retailed in 1928 for $65. By the 1930s, though, Crosley was making models such as the Travo (sometimes referred to as the Model 166) in wood or metal cabinets, with the most upscale Art Deco models finished in sparkling chrome. In the 1950s, Crosley radios went plastic, made of colored Bakelite in Streamline Moderne designs that married the machined look of the 1930s with the geometry that would typify Mid-Century Modern.

OK, so this is a place owned by people of Southern European descent. They have the taxi workshop and then either the, dog kennels or racehorse sheds out the back. Been there done that. These people get so miserly, they won't dole out any wealth to family members they can't trust, so these places get left as living museums because none of the family members agree on splitting up the spoils. It's a completely different mentality that you end up dealing with, very frustrating.

I reckon you would need a lot more space for racehorses. I imagine that this was stables where people could rent space so their child could keep a pony. Unless there used to be open fields right next to it till recently?

Not what you expect to see when you open a fridge. Those lead windows were pretty. I saw a stuffed Garfield on the floor of the second shed. I had my bedroom decorated in Garfield stuff til I was 28. No one ever saw it but me so I did what made me happy. Then I got married.

"Stuff left behind, not much, bare essentials- Brandy, Club Port." Lol. Those are not the essentials I stock up on. Maybe the resident was elderly & couldn't manage all the packing or has even gone into a care home? That might be why they left the glasses. Or perhaps they just had way too many.

Plenty of late 70's - 80's items in what seems to be a 1950's bungalow. ?? Looked like there was more property than there was house!

Any thoughts on getting a drone? Drone shots would have given a great overview of the back area. No idea on laws governing drones in Australia but could be a future idea for you?

I distinctly remember my grandparents had a fridge like the one in the shed. My cousin still has it in the garage as a beer fridge. The fridge would have to be at least 60 years old.

Another one lost to the developers. I was watching another explorer today an the house was undisturbed, a few things looked gone through but finding those untouched gems are few and far between. It makes me sad when the family member doesn't remove all the belongings and sell it before it gets trashed.

Are there unwritten rules for explorers regarding taking items from abandoned sites? Because I have to tell you, I would be tempted with some of these things. Not to resell but purely for the beauty of some of the items which were handcrafted with pride. Also, some of the small, sentimental items just seem to need ‘rescuing’ and given a place in someone else’s home instead of being bulldozed under and forgotten. 😢. Maybe that’s why most explores are men. Women try to ‘save’ everything. 😉

Hi Linda, yes there is a motif of take nothing but photos and leave nothing but footprints. ☺ Ones like this are def no go. Homes in line for the wrecking ball well if historic items are going to be destroyed then they need saving ☺

I wonder if there was a horse racing track somewhere not too far away? Or if if was a riding school? The ceilings were very much like the ones in my Nanna and Pops house in Melbourne as far as I am aware their house is still there being looked after (I hope so anyway) next time I drive to Melbourne I am going to check it out and let you know.
