ABBA was formed by two Swedish couples Agnetha & Bjorn and Benny & Anni-frid. All ABBA songs are composed and produced by Benny & Bjorn (with few exceptions). Benny is usually considered the main composer and Bjorn is the main lyricist. Agnetha and Anni-frid also had their share of contributions about how to sing the songs. Agnetha composed two songs with lyrics by Bjorn ("Disillusion" and "I'm Still Alive"). Stig (ABBA's manager) also contributed lyrics to some of the earlier ABBA songs. Neil Sedaka & Phil Cody wrote the English lyrics for "Ring Ring".✌

Stig was the founder of Swedish Music (publishing, 1960), Polar Music (label, 1963). ABBA's manger. Early lyric writer. The B's Benny and Bjorn were the songwriters. With Bjorn the lyric writer. They also produced thier own records and albums. Gorel was ran the administration, and regional record label contracts around the world. Personal manager to the core four and friends. She still works with ABBA today. Gorel was hired by Stig Anderson/Polar Music in 1969, when she was 20. Started in office. Then secretary for Stig. Then promoted to Polar Music VP. Rutger Gunnarsson was ABBA's main bass player, but also involved with horns and strings arranging, writing. Michael B Tretow was ABBA recording engineer. Also, assist in production. The ABBA are a self contained indie music group that did everything themselves. They had no corporate overlords or puppeteers. They were there own bosses. Polar Music was Stig's tiny, but very respected record label. By the mid 70's he gifted half of Polar Music to the core four and a percentage of Polar Music to Michael Tretow. Stig remained the largest shareholder. Anni-Frid (Frida) and Benny were a couple. Agnetha and Bjorn were a couple. Pre ABBA Frida became known for her stage, TV performances. She was also associated with Sweden's most respected musicians. She came from the stages. Started in the 1950's. Turned pro at age 13. Stellar reputation among her peers. Won multiple best vocalist awards as a child, pre-teen, teen and adult too include two National Best Vocalist awards in 1964 and 1967. Agnetha came to ABBA as a pop singer. She gained popularity as a Swedish pop singer. She also wrote mamy of her own songs. But only wrote one song with Bjorn for ABBA. Agnetha is mosly known as a recording artist. Benny and Bjorn, song writing partners since 1966. Both BB met their respective gf/fiancee/wives in 1969. The four became great friends. Pre ABBA foursome/trail: April: 1970, Cyprus. A travel agency sponsord trip to sing fot the UN Swedish troops. They were known as individual artists, but started to perform together. Oct 1970, Swedish Radio. Live with audience. All performed. One performance was pit on record. Earliest live recording of future ABBA... 'Barnen Sover' Live version put on Frida 1967-72 compilation album. Frida's solo rights were owned by EMI, so the song was put on Frida's album. There is also a studio version, but the live version is more spectacular and very historic in ABBA history. Vocals: Frida Piano: Benny Guitar: Bjorn Winter 1970/71: cabaret shows. This marked the ebding to a potential foursome. Frida left early 1971. She did not want to be part of a pop group as she preferred vocal centric genres. That was her background. She loved jazz and the improvising jazz allowed. Stig Anderson/Polar Music wanted Frida underv Polar Music as a solo artist. Took over a year to secure Frida. In 1972, Stig Polar Music and Frida became partners and she signed a solo Polar Music contract after her 1967-1972 EMI contract was fulfilled. Frida also agreed to join Benny, Bjorn and Agnetha. She was all in. The foursome was now offical with Frida's commitment. Stig eventually named them ABBA. That us the short and quick version of ABBA's beginnings. It became quick also one of my fabvorit as i discovered it for a year or two. Well, behind Cassandra, One of us, The winner take it all.. etc... But nod doubt in my top 15. Glad you loved it. I don't know where do you have it from. I have it from a 11 CD box (i forteg the name). And ther was not so much "clik" i heard that video, even if they are subtils. Attention, once you dive into the world of ABBA, there's no turning back :) I loved your reaction. I noticed that your voice was on the left audio channel only. It's a bit confusing (even if it's a good thing so as not to cover up the sound of the song too much).

You forgot Stig. Real ABBA fans know that Stig was responsible for writing most of their early lyrics. Stig was music executive, song writer, musician, etc ... 1950's: math teacher, singer-songwriter... 1960's: 1960: founded - Sweden Music, publishing 1963: founder - Polar Music, record label As Frida said in 2010 RockNRoll Hall of Fame about Stig: Paraphrasing... - great guy - 5th member of ABBA - without Stig, we are not standing here tonight Frida essentially put Stig into the RockNRoll Hall of Fame with her kind words.

ABBA is an amazing group ! You should check out a young lady that has some wonderful covers of ABBA ! She has done a few ABBA songs but I would recommend you start with the very beautiful cover of “ Slipping Though My Fingers “ such a beautiful song ! The songwriters were the two guys in the group. Benny Andersson (the one with the beard) and Bjorn Ulvaus. In the early days, their manager helped out on the lyrics but only up until the Arrival album. Did you know that Neil Sedaka wrote the lyrics for Ring, Ring? That was the only occasion when they used a 'non Swede'!

The backing track always felt like a bit of a temp track to the song. I suspect the arrangement would have changed if they persisted with it. All their songs usually went through 3 or 4 passes before they were satisfied. Given they abandoned it for the Super Trouper song, I think it would have went through more passes-especially the backing track. They would return to elements of the song in a later release Cassandra where you will hear some of the Sombrero melody. It remained unreleased for a good couple of decades before it appeared on a compilation album of unreleased material and then re-inserted on to the original Super Trouper album The group's 2 male members wrote all the songs.

You forgot Stig Anderson and others. Stig is the one responsible for securing Frida. The groups only professional vocalist. A huge get by Stig in 1972. Frida was the last one and most reluctant to join a pop group - a comedown artistry for Frida, who preferred more sophisticated vocal centric genre's. But pop, although a comedown for Frida, pop is more lucrative. Frida was asked why pop and not jazz, classical, etc ...? Frida said she could use her skills in pop to add something to pop songs. Regarding the ABBA order. No longer matters as long as the couples were coupled together. It did however matter to Stig, the Polar Music boss as Polar Music records indicate: A: Anni-Frid B: Benny B: Bjorn A: Agnetha In 1976 ABBA went into Orbit. In 1977 they launched a Euro and Australia Tour. The Polar Music Team wore white satin jackets with red trim with Polar Music patch, etc ... The four core members wore large red block letter's on the back. A-B-B-A. The second B is inverted (backwards). That was worn by Benny. ABBA -The Movie, 1977. Opening credits as airplane lands in Australia across the big screen: ABBA: Anni-Frid Lyngstad Benny Andersson Bjorn Ulvares Agnetha Falkskog This appears in one long line.
