Someone is being pretty smart with Abby’s competitions/workouts. These races look like pure training to me. The first 200 is about relaxation at speed and the rest is working on her endurance. Her splits are too uneven for races, but ideal preparation for races she cares about. She’s run some very fast times, considering that’s not her objective.

@@battshytkrazy156 Actually if you look, her upperbody arm positioning has changed and I would bet that these are merely training runs to get use to the change while having competition around. Remember when Sidney was doing 60 hurdles and people talked trash about that then her season started and she wrecked that shiz with leg swapping included. It looks like she is not punching herself in the chest anymore.

💯 commented the same on the day she raced.Shes racing the first 200m then building stamina for the last 200m. She's gonna be killing 200metres this year.Shea already got a world class 100m time ,but this training will mean she can hold top speed all the way to the finish line. Based on how she slowed after the first 200 meters in the indoor 400, and was right around 36 flat, and the American record is 35.71, and she has already run a 35.8, I think she can easily break the American record. Now the world record is 35.45, so I think she has a ways to go to break that, but I believe she has the potential to do it. It's fun watching her that's for sure. She is an amazing talent.

Abby is 23. At what age do female sprinting athletes usually hit their peak? If it is around 26, and she has three more years to keep getting better, she could possibly break some world records, but we have to remember that the level of competition today is higher than ever. Abby is not the only phenom out there, which just makes this an exciting time in track and field history.

Why isn't Lewis a phenomenon ?
@dr.options
@dr.options Жыл бұрын
@Dark Mark because Lewis is over 60 now..you can't be a phenom at that age. When he was younger, he was absolutely a phenom. I remember training for track in 1982 at 9-10 years old and our track coach referring to the very young phenom at the time, Carl Lewis. I remember him noting Lewis's hands because he was so relaxed when he ran that he didn't clinch his fists like most runners, but instead kept them open like "knife blades" to cut through the wind. Then Lewis's performance in the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles secured his status as one of the best of all-time. He then continued to have incredible longetivity which is pretty amazing considering the pounding his body took in all the long jump competitions, of which he is the GOAT, without question.

Would definitely like to see her attempt a sub 50 indoors to really boost that exclusive club she's in. Ab has excellent cadence and capable of speed endurance, so all she needs in the very tight races is to maintain as much relaxation as possible in her shoulders and arm fluidity. That little tension tightening that happens is where even more lowering of times can come. Superb versatility.

Thank you for posting that comment. I'm far from any expert and always wondered if her form seems a bit stiff. Does her arm swing go a bit lateral, and is it a bit short? The indoor 400 is also such a weird event because it is a race in the first 200 to try and get a good spot in lane 1 once everyone breaks. Because of this, the first 200 is bound to be much faster than the 2nd 200 since positioning is so important. Even then though, these are crazy splits and I wonder if she is doing this on purpose to work on her speed and then using the 2nd 200 to build strength and endurance. I could see her running much faster if she slowed down the first 200 a little bit.

Be interesting to know what Shaunae (50.21), Privalova (50.23) & Femke (50.30) split in their record-setting races? Also curious what Shericka Jackson (7.04) could run in the indoor 200/300/400m given her outdoor 10.71/21.45/49.47 PBs?! 6:43; Irina Privalova also ran sub 11/22/36/50 (10.77, 21.87, 35.45 & 49.89). Can see Abby breaking Quanera Hayes's 35.71 300m US Record but narrowly missing out on Shaunae & Privalova's 35.45 WR. In terms of outdoors, can see her running 10.85/21.70/49.90.

Speed is only one factor when it comes to running but also stamina. Is Abby the fastest runner in the world off course not but her stamina is one of the best and as long as she keeps her stamina I don't think she will lose much speed in fact she should improve her speed down the road. Her technique of running is the opposite as far as how most runners use but it's effective for her so use what works is what I say.

Marita Koch's 1st 200m was 22.4 so if that is accurate, about 0.95 seconds faster in the initial 200m when she ran the WR 47.6 seconds for the 400m.

I am a slow freshman high school sprinter, that runs a 14.11 (100m), a 27.93 (200m), and a 59 second (400m). Is it possible in 4 years when I am a senior. I can be running a 10.8(100m) a 21.4(200m) and a 49second(400m) with consistent training year round?I have always wanted to run in college and I don’t have many people to motivate me . I have more people tell me I can’t do it. Please answer truthfully and don’t just say something to make me feel like I can when it’s not possible. I just want truth.

You can do it focus the first year and a half on strength training your body with some time to learning form to increase the force you put into the ground. Then focus on primarily your form during the rest of your high school career with maintenance training for strength. Try and squat 2.5-3x your body weight as a metric of good strength metric And work on holding endurance at top speed as well

Jasper, so my sohomore year of Highschool, I ran a 57 second 400, a 12.5 100. ...not sure of the 200, but the next year my 200 was 23.9. I worked my butt off the summer after my junior year after not making it to state, then my senior year I ran a 48 second 400, 21.8 200, and a 10.4 100. You can do it. It's all about how much you want it.

ABBY STEINER IS THE REAL DEAL The World must watch her Including team Jamaica. Whom I love ❤ She will get the 200m record from Marlene Oytey this year aswell as 300m indoor wr ( I believe Prandini can push her in this race) USA indoor record in 400m Moving outdoors she had the second fastest time in 200m last year . And we also know she has far less races like last year's NCAA season Not Jackson , Asher Smith , Thomas , Miller Ubu And Thompson is sure of beating her in 200m She can run a sub 49 in 400m To join Marita Kocg and Shaune Miller-Ubu in a Sub 49'-400m Sub 22'- 200m Sub 11 -100m Not forgetting her otential as relay runner . She and team USA can break the 4x400m world record this year . And I'm sure she will get into both the 200m and 400m for team USA going to Budapest. Shes not ❤Queen Alison Felix but she can fill her shoes in the future. Ps Thanks for Wayde van Niekerk mention I think he's running his 1st race in Jamaica this year Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦
