Fun fact in ancient Scandinavia there was 13 months and Nine days and 5 seasons (the reason for nine days if mentioned a few times such as Drupnir dropping 8 normal gold copies of itself on the ninth day). Probably where they got the idea that Garm ate the 5th season this leaving 12 months and 6 days in Old Norse (Viking age, and yes before the Vikings there was the Drengr, though if a Drengr does and doesn't go to Valhalla or Helheim he would come back as a Draugr, funny enough only magic or magical weapons plus fire can kill a Draugr...or lightning if you are Thör. Btw the first 6 days of the week are all Norse, Sunday or Sol's Day (Sol meaning sun), Monday or Manny's day (Manny being the Moon, so moon day aka Monday), Tuesday is Tyr's day, Wednesday is Wöden's day aka Odin's Day, Thursday is Thör's day, Friday is Frigg's day. As someone who has paid far too much money to get a degree in this. Modern day "Christian" society pulls heavy from paganism in general, Christmas/winter solstice, Easter/springaard etc.etc. but breaking down Frigg VS. Freya, neither frigg nor Freya are her name. This is a theme with Freyas brother who only is called freyr because of his godlyhood. Freya and freyr are vanir terms for lord and lady, Freyas name was lost to time but Yngvi is the oldest name recorded for Freyr. Frigg is similar, it's a title or status within the Aesir like "all father" as aldafoor. 🤷♀️ history loses a lot tho especially with Christian manipulations over the years but depending on the story of Freya u perceive whether she was aesir or vanir, changes the story entirely. Nonetheless neither are her name Friday comes from frigg, the highest ranking godess known for fertility!

Interesting theory. I do agree that Gram was the giant wolf, Hróðvitnir, but I think the Giants are the ones that stole Hróðvitnir's soul, not the Demiurge. Why do I think this? We must remember that Mimir called Hróðvitnir "a great nemesis of the Aesir gods." The only way the Aesir could Hróðvitnir at bay was to kidnap and imprison his pups, Skoll and Hati, which tells me that not even Thor, the slayer of Giants, was a match for the arch wolf. So, when the Giants decide to leave Midgard for Jotunheim, they probably asked Hróðvitnir to join them, but the wolf giant was having none of it and wanted to continue to be the bane of the Aesir. But the Giants couldn't let Hróðvitnir go because of his power to travel between realms. They probably feared that should Odin and Aesir capture Hróðvitnir, they could force him to open a path to Jotunhiem. So, they whispered Hróðvitnir's soul from his body; hoping that the wolf would be harmless like the soulless animals we see in Ironwood. But instead, they created Gram, a soulless beast that jeopardized the nine realms, if not all of reality. At least until Tyr trapped him in Helhiem. But one must ask why would Hróðvitnir want to continue to fight the Aesir if it jeopardized the safety of the Giants. The answer is simple: Revenge. I believe that Hróðvitnir was the loyal companion of Ymir, the primordial being of Norse Mythology. Together, using Hróðvitnir's power to open paths to over places, traveled in search of knowledge to help create a better pantheon. But then, Odin came along and killed Ymir; using his body to create Midgard. This could explain why Gram, whom I suspect was still Hróðvitnir at the time, ate a part of Midgard and the 5th season. It wasn't becasue he was very hungry, but to damage what Odin created and piss him off. Also, by being the loyal companion of Ymir, it also helps explain why the mask reacted Hróðvitnir, now Gram. Because the mask once belonged to Ymir, who used the mask to see into the rift and gain knowledge. All in an effort to be better then those that came before, only for Odin to mess things up. I will admit that there is little to no evidence to support this theory, but I was an idea I've had for a while and felt it was worth share. What do you think.

He didn't have a soul, but that does bring up a good point. What's the difference between Garm and the animals in Ironwood? There seems to be something different about soulless beings in Hel. They simply revive after death, but it's more of a reanimation than a rebirth; and it must have something to do with the beings who are assigned to exist there. Giving them a soul changes them into the identity of the soul. That's how Jormungandr was born, because before the soul was placed into the body of snake, he was an actual giant.

In some poems Garm & Fenrir are the same beast (hyperthettically) another name for Fenrir is also called Hróđvitnir (which in the GoW lore is a separate beast & the father of Sköll & Hati) so there was some creative liberties taken here. Now this could be the incredibly roundabout theory of yours where Hróđvitnir became Garm who became Fenrir OR all 3 wolves are separate entities & this is a case of character de-stinction. Hróđvitnir is father of Sköll & Hati (with them kidnapped by Asgard in order to keep him from attacking & the giants later freeing them from imprisonment. He is most likley now dead or missing like the rest of his kin), Garm was given the rest of Fenrir's more evil aspects while keeping the lore of being the Hel-hound. Fenrir is a normal wolf who becomes the wolf of legend & Loki's "son" through his rebirth in Garm's body.

I saw another video about this a few days ago, they came to most of the same conclusions, only thing they had different was the reason for *why* the Demiurge would have done it. I don't remember the full details, but they actually believe that when we saw Athena in GoW 3, it wasn't Athena, but the Demiurge disguised as her. I don't remember much on what they said about recruiting Garm to search for the mask, but I remember them saying it was a failure, leading them to try a different approach with Odin by promising infinite knowledge. I'm not sure how much I agree with the Athena part, as she is in GoW 4 briefly and I don't think she'd stick around Kratos after failing to use him if she was actually the Demiurge in disguise, but I also see parts that make sense. It's definitely interesting.

@@HighmageDerin Then Mimir would have seen her to begin with, or heard her at the very least, but he didn't. He only knew Kratos saw Athena once Kratos spoke her name. If it wasn't really Athena in Kratos' home in 2018 and the creators have already confirmed this then I think it at the very least hints that the higher plane story(which I think WILL happen at some point) may not be the answer for the mask and rift. I still and will continue to maintain this is totally a Harry Potter and Prisoner of Azkeban setup. We stoll don't know who blew the horn in 2018 and if it was Angrboda why wouldn't she just let that factoid drop at some point? She would have no reason to not tell Loki. I think Loki will at some point arrive at a time turner scenario where he realizes he set everything up, for things to play out the way they did in Ragnarok. He would know all the pertinent timing and events to a T. Also I mean I'd like to hope that in terms of creative story telling that the missing link ISNT "THESE 3 THINGS ALL SHARE THE SAME COLOR SO THATS THE ANSWER" Kind of a lame story element imo.

Your theory doesn't take into account how Fenrir ended up in the body of a normal wolf
@BartekJestem25 Жыл бұрын
Fenrir był normalnym wilkiem na początku, przed śmiercią
@abdbay Жыл бұрын
The Fenrir at the beginning of the game is a normal wolf that Atreus adopted and named Fenrir. That random wolf Atreus adopted is the original, first ever Fenrir.
@michamatyjewiczalkis284 Жыл бұрын
@@abdbay Yes but in your theory you said that Hróðvitnir and Fenrir are the same person
@abdbay Жыл бұрын
@@michamatyjewiczalkis284 They are but they aren’t. First Hrodvitnir existed as the giant wolf and the father of Skoll and Hati, then Hrodvitnir’s soul was taken away and the wolf became soulless Garm, then Atreus put the soul of his deceased adopted wolf, Fenrir, into Garm and so Garm became Fenrir like how we see in the game. Does that make sense?

In the myths. Yes. Everything you've said. Also in the sagas. I dunno. Could be.. sure.
@SomeGuy-mt4hq Жыл бұрын
There's nothing that states or even implies that fenrir dies due to fimbulwinter. He was just sick. If it was caused by fimbulwinter, then by that logic speki and svana (I think those are the names) wouldn't have been well either, meaning kratos and atreus wouldn't have a sled in Midgard. It's so stupid when content creators treat their own headcanon as fact

The mask was said to be of loki or smth in the 2nd movie
@aeolussvichi7680 Жыл бұрын
@@Whatsabird guess you could argue it’s Lokis mask since he’s the one who pieced it together and has some connection to it to have been able to find it, put it together and wear it. He sent it into the rift which is reasonable to think it wound up in our realm where it fell into Jim Carry’s hands 🤷♂️.

Bro very little Dad of War follows Norse mythology. Fenrir, Jourmungndr and a few others were the children of Loki and Angraboda. Both of which have not fucked or had kids in Dad of War. So Fenrir being born after Skal and Hati doesn't matter.

Had to stop the video a minute in. The guy seems to think the norse mythology in game is a one to one to norse mythology IRL, attempting to make sense of certain things when their two canons are separate. If certain characters and events from IRL my this haven’t been adapted into the GOW version you can just plug in IRL and pretend like it’s GOW fact for the sake of a video
