*JOURNEY ACROSS JAPAN CONTINUES!*
Happy New Year everyone!
And so we reach the most northern part of our journey, in a remote region of Aomori where there’s not a great deal going on save for a bizarre train station and some rather picturesque Tori gates. Fortunately, today’s awful challenges certainly keep us busy though.
Now let us never swap accents again.
The final FIVE epic episodes of Journey Across Japan featuring two more guests (three if we include a certain character) will be out in early January. For the next few days, the editing team and myself are taking a much needed break to welcome in the New Year after a relentless December.
I’m really proud of the team for delivering what’s been an incredible series travelling around Tohoku and for delivering a record amount of Abroad in Japan episodes in a single month! But the journey’s not over yet and some of the best is still yet to come (including perhaps the most difficult challenges of all). Onwards into Akita and Yamagata!
Wishing you all a great start to 2024!

I'm in Japan right now for holiday, the convenience stores food is sooo great compared to anything in Australia and so cheap too. Also, as a note for anyone else going here. Do not exchange any currency before you come here. If you got any bank card that works via visa or mastercard, which is most Australian banks, just come here and use any ATMs that are everywhere and withdraw direct to local currency, they only charge 1-3.5% ATM fee. And especially if you have bank card that charges $0 foreign withdraw and transaction fees, just swipe it at the checkouts, nearly every store accepts it and you get the full exact current exchange rate deducted from your account with no fees or surcharges that I have seen. Currencies exchanges like at airports can charge you up to 15%+ in fees, commissions and dodgy sell/buy rates.

Happy New Year! This weird accented Chris was certainly an interesting way to end the year. This series has been wonderful, can't wait to see the final episodes!

I’ve never laughed so hard in an abroad in Japan video and it was all because of Sharla 😝😂 worth the wait. Thank you for always doing incredible content

I'm only a minute or two past the challenge, and I love it! Great to see the horror and fun of the accent swap. Chris still swears with his native accent, though. Hilarious to see!

I love this challenge. I'm always thinking how Sharla has picked up so many of Chris's British-isms like "shut tup" so fun to watch them try this all day.

I loved this episode sooo much! As a Brit, Sharla had me at “fuck’s sake”. The dual challenge combo was great!

Such a fun series. Thank you for enduring the headaches, physical challenges and wicked schedule. We appreciate the work you, your guests and crew have put into this to give us a few laughs as the year ends. All the best in 2024.

The accents were so jarring, I could barely even hear what either of you were saying because my brain was too distracted trying to make sense of what was happening. Lol I love how Sharla’s accent turned into a complete overhaul of her entire way of speaking.😂 Whenever I attempt to do a British accent (also Canadian), I pretty much use the words I always use but throw in a few “bloody hell”s and whatnot… not difficult since I use that phrase often enough anyway.😅 Missed you guys. Thanks for the upload.😊
