i love the way you explain, an how you get into detail of good practices without making it boring, as game dev who already work in the industry just trying to learn other fields of the 3d production i love it as that kind of knowledge comes really in handy when doing more complex stuff later on.

Hi, I've never had any confidence with rigging. I've modelled in Maya, sculpted in Zbrush and textured in substance painter with ease. Rigging just scared me, as I just found it complicated to approach it, instead, I have many times got the model auto rigged. I've tried other paid tutorials, but they were either over-explained or very badly explained, honestly, they didn't make sense and it never clicked. With your teaching process, it is fantastic and with every step of the way you're explaining, making it clearly understandable and making sense. High praise and with hats off to you and thank you. People need great teachers like you. -That is all. :)

@gyananchan4256
@gyananchan4256 4 жыл бұрын
I am sorry I'm new, but why did we have to go to such lengths to hide the rigs and use those circles? I mean the cylinder moved even when we rotated the joints directly. I didn't understand what the advantage of using the circles was.

I highly recommend the "art of rigging' series of books. Its also handy to use a split hierarcly for your controls, this lets you stick secondary offsets into a layer between the control and null for cool stuff like overlapping auto motion, inputs from anothrer IK, expressions ,etc , lots of fun stuff. Also the downstream hierarchy doesnt light up and make things hard to see. eg. group ( offsets here, parented under null from another control ) -curve ctrl object ( this has curve.translate,rotate,scale piped into the null.translate,rotate,scale ) -null ( where you parent other stuff )

Thank you for sharing your feedback @edgibborim1948. Are you a 3D Rigger? Do you know how the instructor here keyframed the overlapping? I was able to animate this, but not to overlap it :( I just ordered the book series you recommended, they look awesome even though they may be older books! Thank you again! 🙏😊

Wow, Maya has a complex way of doing things that should be so quick and easy. Make joint, make controller, snap this snap that etc. Rigging a full human character would take three times longer than necessary. Good presentation though. I understood what you were explaining but couldn't help but think it's a little more process heavy than it should be

Hi! Just want to say thank you so much for this rigging series. For a school assessment we've had to create a character from scratch including rigging and animating it. The rigging lessons went over my head and i was rather overwhelmed, but following along with your video tutorials really helped me. I now have a rigged character and a better understanding of rigging including constraints and the hierarchy. Tomorrow I'll finish the last two videos of weight painting and blend shapes, which i've done a bit of both of those before. And should be able to move onto animation so that i can complete my assessment. Thank you so much for these videos. You're clear about what you're doing and any changes you have to make. You really helped me and many others so much with your tutorials. Keep up the great work! :)
