As a pest control business owner for 45 years. I can tell you I haven’t had to pay for damages in the last 20 years since I switched to the Sentricon colony elimination bait system. I live in an area inundated with Formosan termites. This new species invaded the panhandle of Florida extensively in 1988. Sentricon does not attract any kind of Termite. Bait systems rely on random forging of termite colonies.They are not attracted to a little piece of wood. But we’ll find one of the 30 placed appropriately around the perimeter of the house. If you want to know if a product works ask the guy who has to get his wallet out when it doesn’t.
@Accuratetermitecontrol4 жыл бұрын
Buuuuut, this does not prove that the bait stations work BETTER than alternative trenching treatments and thus this does not justify their cost over the other. As you pointed out, you would be betting on the termites to randomly find the bait stations. Why should a homeowner pay for the stations and maintenance that comes with them if you would get the same result from a one-time trenching or soil treatment using all green products?
@timhanjian3 жыл бұрын
That's because they havent shown themselves to the home owner YET! When they DO and they will you'll be fucked

A chemical treatment of the soil is the best method for termite control, a lot of companies won’t even service your bait stations as they should and they are more expensive in the long run. A full chemical soil treatment looks a lot more expensive but the chemical our company uses last close to 20 years if not more. So in my opinion the chemical treatment is the way to go it will save you money in the long run, and unlike sentricon if you don’t keep up the yearly renewal we can’t come take the chemical out of the ground like they do if you do not keep up the bait stations. I cannot say bait stations do not work, but I do not believe in them, they are mostly a money maker for pest control companies.

It’s easy to pick apart the directions on the label, so if your treatment isn’t effective, most likely attorney will be able to prove negligence. Not so with Sentricon. One station every 10-20 feet, check once a year, report location of bait consumed to homeowner. Done .
@timhanjian3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely do not do the sentricon baiting system for $700! In fact I wouldn't do any termite baiting I would just do a termite liquid treatment for $700 as well and you have a guarantee that if the termites go through it they will not even know they're poisoned and your house will be better protected over that 10 or 15 year period......

Bait boxes don't "attract termites to your house " they attract termites to the bait. Termites already know your house or any other building or object within their nesting range exists as they are constantly foraging for food and will find any gap in any termite barrier. Such as a layer of garden mulch placed against a wall or window frame or a chemical barrier washed out by a leaking tap or water heater or condensate discharge from an airconditioner. The use of chemical barriers is effective but they still require maintenance and though not as dangerous as organochlorines still pose serious health risks to building occupants and or the environment and agricultural industries. Feeding termites in baitboxes using non toxic chlorafluruazon is not only highly effective in eliminating colonies but is safe for everyone involved including pest control operators. Many occupations have associated risks and its up to the individual to decide whether the risks are acceptable. However there are many unknown risks involved when using chemicals that have been banned in many countries including risks for unborn children.
@Accuratetermitecontrol3 жыл бұрын
OR, you could just use a green product like we do 🤷♂️
@andrewwatson53602 жыл бұрын
Feeding termites Chloraflurazon via correctly placed and managed bait boxes is not "added protection" its a method of permanently eliminating termite colonies within the foraging range of the placed bait boxes. Its not an indiscriminate attempt to seal off termites from a food source (building material) by the use of toxic so called "green" chemicals flooded without restraint into the environment with the hope that termites will not find a way around the "barrier". Given time sooner or later termites will penetrate the "barrier". Its inevitable. The only way to have some control over termites is to eliminate nesting colonies within the proximity of the attractive food source and feeding termites with effective non detectable (to the termites) termicide will achieve this. Its not a one off permanent building protection as even after colony elimination has occurred regular monitoring of correctly designed, placed and suitably baited bait boxes needs to be maintained even after years of termite free observations. And although the chemical used like ALL others is not entirely "green" it become confined to very small parts of the soil in very small quantities unlike flooding huge volumes of chemicals with dubious "green" credentials around human habitats. The effectiveness of baiting will impress pest controllers clients and the need for regular monitoring will create a very long term relationship that not only adds to business goodwill but keeps the clientele base growing. The only time to use termicide sprays is when a build is under attack to stop any further damage. Even then I have seen termites build galleries overnight over chemically treated soil and surfaces to get to a desirable food source. Once they know the food is there they will stop at nothing to get at it. So feed them small quatities of a substance that will kill them off before they find the building material they consider a vital food supply. It may not be in the interests of large chemical manufacturers but it will be in the interests of your clients and the environment.
@michaelmerck75762 жыл бұрын
The air conditioner condensation can be easily diverted and should be but adding mulch which is mostly bark would bring no cellulose to the surface and the treated subsoil would not be disturbed unless you dug out soil to add the mulch and why do that

I'm currently a termite tech and my company only does liquid treatments, so I can't speak with authority. I totally disagree with these statements. I live in Thailand and my house is built of teak, an extremely hard wood. In the last 6 months I started to see evidence of termites. I contacted a major international pest control company and they would treat the house for $1,500 with a one year guarantee. I opted to treat it myself using bait stations and an IGR. I installed 15 bait stations and within 2 weeks 13 had the initial wood inserted into them totally consumed. I have now begun treating the house with an IGR. Total cost so far has been $450. I used bait stations and IGR in Florida when I lived there too and I have yet to find anything as cost-effective or easy to use. I am sold on them.

Paid for the Sentricon stations trough the company I worked for and they leave out some key details when selling these things. Like how the bait can take up to TWO YEARS to kill the colony. And I'm sure we all know how much damage termites can do in two years. Trenching is the only way to go. Had termites in one of these stations and they told me to leave them alone to get the bait and after 9 months of checking the station and seeing living termites I just had a traditional treatment and now they're gone. Don't buy bait stations, it's cheaper and more effective in the long run to get a traditional style of treatment done. I got a huge discount on 50 Sentricon stations and it was still $600 plus the yearly $100 to replace bait and check activity but with the company I work for now a traditional trench and rod treatment for my house would be right at $700

@timhanjian3 жыл бұрын
@@ultimatepatriot the problem with sentricon is even with the changes to the system to whereas before Terminix with changed wood monitors and then would put found termites into a bait tube so they could eat the way out correct? The only reason they had to change that was because Terminix and other companies to be fair would not check in every station every time they went to their customers houses period even when I ran the system myself you were only getting maybe 15% hits black people's homes because the system just is not that effective... being a pest control operator is basically the bottom of the Barrel in a licensed Industries in comparison to electricians plumbers Etc, a lot of these guys who I would train smoke cigarettes with pump their own gas and didn't wash their hands pick their nose and who knows what else in between touching the bait stations in question and I can guarantee there has not been much of a change in the quality of technicians over the years. The second problem was the pricing for it the sentricon system, it's almost half as much more than doing a liquid treatment and the renewal is/ was unreal it was like paying for a second termite job.... so after you pay all this money after two years if there's no hits on the bait station then the customer has to remember to request to get a liquid treatment by the Servicing Company and most of the times the customers don't think there's any problem once the systems in the ground! It would be nice if the absolute truth was told in these videos LOL
