Another thing about this monitor is that if you can’t push the 4K above 100hz part you can just switch to 1440p 144hz if you’re playing something competitive that requires more frames.

if you have this monster DO NOT install LCD driver it will lock the color into sRGB (dim crappy standard color) the best way to experience the capability on this thing is the BT-1886 EOTF the reds & anything thats highlighted in games just LOOKS AMAZING better than HDR mode in my opinion

I owned this for a short while so I have a little insight. It doesnt feel or look particularly cheap and it's pretty solid for the price. However, I would definitely recommend the lg 27gl850 (1440p 144hz) over this monitor for most gamers. That's what I ended up getting instead. It's also a good deal cheaper at $500 usd. While it does make sense to consider futureproofing while choosing a monitor, reasonably priced 4k 144hz gaming is still a long long ways a way. By that time there will likely be better, less expensive 4k 144hz monitors anyway, as this is an early adaptation. It seems this monitor is more so for people looking to spend a fortune on rig to try and get close to 4k 144hz within the next couple generations of video cards. Ultimately this seems to be more like a niche thing than a good futureproofing option.

mikhailtessier1 I haven’t received it yet, but I bought this monitor to replace a 1440p 144hz g-sync monitor. If you’re looking to run that resolution then you’re better off buying a monitor at that resolution which would be half the price if not less.

I own a alienware 240hz monitor but would like a monitor like this for RPG games and other similar games. I have a i7 8700k clocked at 5.1ghz and a RTX 2080 with +130 to the core and +1300 on the memory. So i think i should be able to get +60 FPS in almost everygame but being able to switch to 1440p 144hz would be nice middle ground between my setup.

​@@mikhailtessier1 So you're concerned about pixel interpolation or image scaling. With any LCD monitor, if you are rendering an image at a resolution that is not native to the monitor, there will be aliasing. This is most obvious when looking at still images or text on a screen and less apparent when looking at moving images like videos or games, there are countless videos here on KZbin that would better explain this or even a google search, but to answer your question. Yes you will have "weird image issues" if you run a game at a lower resolution than what is native. Now a simple way you can off set this is by adjusting this distance at which you are sitting from your monitor. Meaning sit farther from your monitor than you normally would if rendering at a lower resolution than what is native. The more complex solution to this is using signal processing algorithms to reconstruct the image to compensate for aliasing that occurs. Many modern games offer this in the form of "Resolution scaling". How well this compensates for the aliasing that occurs depends entirely on the engine being used. Hope this helped answer your question.

@@mikhailtessier1 Yes it does 1440p at 144hz no issues at all. If will happily run any resolution up to 4K at 144hz. I run mine at 4K 144hz, but I tested 1440p 144hz and it looks great actually.

@@Afura33 do you have a Pc ccapeable of gaming on 4k 120fps? otherwise u will not need this screen any console connected via HDMI is limited to 4k 60fps because of hmdi 2.0 a PC's DP cable does support 4k120 fps if your system can handle it( you will need a 3080 or higher)

Forgive me for the possibly dumb question. You mention connecting it to a gaming laptop via USB would only net you 60hz and Display Port goes up to 144hz. If my laptop has a Mini-Display Port 1.4 ouptut, will that get me all the benefits of the displayport, or is it 60hz no matter what for me?

If the "USB" is a directly attached-to-GPU Thunderbolt 3 port, you can easily use a USB-C to DisplayPort PASSIVE adapter/cable and it's just like any DisplayPort. PS: I've got a MSI Stealth GS66 with an RTX2070 and it's connected to my 1440p@165Hz Dell S2417DG though an USB-C to DisplayPort cable.

I can push decent 4K in a lot of games with my Ryzen 7 2700x and RTX 2080 OC. Not quite 60 ultra in the most demanding of titles, but there's enough to play out there at 4K to keep me happy. I really want to get one of these and dip down to 1440p when needed. Is anybody else in the same boat? Will 1440p on this monitor really look that much worse than a native panel? I'm currently gaming on a 4K 60hz LG panel, so the extra refresh rate will be a welcome addition.

I bought this montior for my PS4 and Xbox 1 x and I couldn't get to 120 frames on the Xbox and idk why it just stays at 60 frames I tried to go to settings and it wouldn't let me and ik the Xbox can go to 120 bc I did it with my other monitor

Tyler R Yeah I think that we both have the XB273K GP not the standard XB273K with the fan so it doesn’t come with the back lights only the bottom ones. If you do have the XB273K then it will be in monitors OSD settings. And you switch it to all instead of the bottom. But like I said if you have the GP variant which is the newer model without the fan then it doesn’t come with the back lighting.

J you definitely gonna feel the downgrade on screen size but the visual quality it will be mind blowing. Is a pretty big difference. Also 120hz on 4k is amazing, even tho they marketing this monitor as a 144hz is not really 144hz since you lose visual quality once you overclock to 144hz I think 120hz is enough since you will need a super powerful rig to reach 4k ultra settings at 120hz . Now the HDR mode is not really HDR. Is basically A brighter SDR which will looks nice and get way brighter than any monitor out there which make a whole big difference trust me, but to get the proper Gsync HDR you need to get monitors from asus that retail for over 1800 or the predator xb27

27 inchs gets small after a while of usage, especially after youve used 32inch. go for the ultrawide for the immersion, but if you have buku money wait for the acer/asus ultrawide 200hz

but u will get lower resolution 2k pixel different lower pixel and picture will not sharp as 4k i would like to go for 4k even if cant reach 144hz in future it will on Sli Gpu it would my opinion Acer made great job on 1000 Nits which support full High Dynamic range what we call it HDR that's mean more high quality picture and sharper colors by the way HDR 10 required 300-600 nits to get full HDR colors and best panel i believe on va which ips is good but.. Va better contrast faster for shooting gamers response is better ips better viewing angle mostly used on mobiles and tables and ipads which u will not find a mobile va panel is so bad cause of viewing angle va is between ips and tn panel in mid i prefer always Va panel more practical for gaming monitors

How can I accept this review when there is already an existing Acer X27 (same panel as Asus 4k 144Hz only monitor) ? Is this monitor using same panel ? What is the difference with X27 to be half the price (yes, X27 = $2000)... is it less accurate about colors ? Does it have less brightness (cd/m2) ? what is the difference... because it is cheaper than top premium monitors and still have same features= 4k, 144Hz, HDR, GSync... so ? this is more opinion based than a "review on the best 4k gaming monitor"...

This is the same monitor as the $2000 version without FALD and Brightness is not 1000nits. I have this model and the 400 nits HDR is plenty.

Matias Hernan Lauriti they say it’s the local dimming as response time. At 4ms response time you won’t notice , and I play mostly FPS with some rpgs mixed in and I have yet to notice any lag or ghosting.

Acer Predator x27 is better Hdr10n =1000 nits works 100% on a screen has 1000nits x27 unfortunately Acer Predator XB3 screen 1000 nits works on HDR 400 = 400 nits only and it is SDR not HDR quality for gaming best hdr 500 and hdr 600 hdr 1000 for gamers and designer

@@astronutz6623 you are totally wrong, the smaller the display, the better the PPI (Pixel Per Inch, hence definition), if you have a 6" 4k and a 40" 4k you have HIGHER PPI on the 6" hence you see more clearly, really really sharp (as it should look like) compared to the 40", if you have a 50"+ 4k compared to a 24"-27" 1080p is like having the same definition (it will still have higher PPI on 50"+ 4k than 27" 1080p), but you get what I mean...
