sorry, this is kind of a personal story but i feel that i need to share my feelings with it... i'm an absolute sports lover; i plan to become a police officer in the future, so i decided to start martial arts two years ago. i got hooked and it was one of my escapes in life. but i tore my acl a little over a month ago during taekwondo. i was working my very hardest because i really wanted to get better at my 540 kicks, but after landing wrong, thats where my acl tore. i felt really upset about it because my instuctor had really high expectations for me. got an mri two weeks after tearing it and it was thankfully a minor tear. today is my birthday. my knee was super close to full recovery and i was ecstatic to go back to taekwondo training next week, but during pe in school, i stepped normally and immediately buckled. it was a bit more painful than the first time i had done it. my mum told me that i will need to quit taekwondo and any other sports, heck, even told me to rethink my dreams of becoming a police officer. i feel horrible. it's my birthday and i can't understand why this is happening to me. i dont even need surgery because thats what my doctor told me, but i have to give up my passion?? all this hard work for nothing...

I had a bad knee injury as a teen. Was never taken to the docs to have it seen to. Fast forward 15 years and my knee is giving me issues. Fluid on my knee, I see my doc, he refers me to the hospital thinking I have a blood clot. Long story short, no blood clot but X-rays and mri revealed tons of scar tissue in my knee. A doc sees me hours later and tell me that I had a severe knee injury and asked me how it happened. I told him and he was really shocked that my injury wasn’t seen to. He said he would clean it out and repair what he could, and told me that my knee cap was misaligned from the injury. He said I had torn my acl and the meniscus. He also said that he may do a full knee reconstruction once he was in there. Well life happened and I never got it done. I still have knee issues. I can’t walk properly, and pain stops me in my tracks sometimes, I figure it’s scar tissue getting in the way, so I kick my leg and stretch my knee at the same time over and over so I can put weight back on it. I am a prime example of why you should seek help after a knee injury.

But when I start to play or sudden change of direction or when you jumb from little high place my knees gets hurting again Ang again. Some popping noice and that moment I can't stretch my legs fully. So I have to to bend my knees back to buttock to make it to normal position. This is happening in my life from last 14 years now. I really want to play and run, because of this I have controlled my movements to get injured. I m really worried now will it be successful doing the surgery after 14 years ? That ligament cannot grow back so you'll always have a torn one. There are olympic athletes who've avoided surgery by building up all the surrounding muscles to help overcompensate for the knee instability during high levels of activity, but they're olympic level athletes who didn't want down time and already have the training plan and body to pull this off. I tore mine a month ago along with the MCL and plan on getting surgery in January. I'm not an tense athlete that will likely be able to work around an ACL and would rather fix it and work back to my previous abilities so that I can keep backpacking, rock climbing, and cycling.

Hi northside shorty nick, Sorry to hear about your recent injury. Glad you are looking into some options for how to heal the knee. Ultimately, this would need to be diagnosed by a medical provider in person who can physically examine your knee, compare it to the good knee, do a motion ultrasound of the various ligaments and tendons, watch you walk, discuss your athletic goals and/or other stresses that you put on your joint with work, etc. Then a proper treatment plan can be developed. In our experience, cases of a recent injury usually need around 3-6 Prolotherapy treatments, depending on the extent of the injury and the person's athletic goals. In our office, we only put some emphasis on an MRI. We have some videos on our channel about this and did one recently that you may find helpful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHzaZn-drpmNgqs We wish you all the best in healing! Hello Dr. I watched your video and I felt bit stronger. I am facing similar situation right now. I am sharing my problem to you. Please help me. On 4th July 2023, I met with an accident while I was riding my bike, going to work. The MRI observations are as follows - 1. There is fracture reaching upto the articular surface seen in lateral tibial condyle with surrounding marrow edema and contusions. 2. There is subchondral fracture with cortical buckling and ill-defined marrow edema and contusions seen at mid aspect of the lateral femoral condyle. 3. Ill-defined areas of marrow edema and contusions are seen in medial femoral and tibial condyles. 4. Fracture with marrow edema and contusions seen in proximal fibula. 5. High grade partial thickness tear of ACL noted. 6. Gross joint effusion with myofascial thickening and edema noted. 7. Grade 3 tear in posterior horn of lateral meniscus reaching upto tibial articular surface. I consulted doctors, some told me to take rest for 45 days after that we will go for surgery, some told me that we can go for surgery now. I didn't went for surgery till date. Right know, I am using a knee brace, which keeps my leg straight. I use this brace for around 23 hours daily. I am not bending my leg when I use brace. I walk around 100 mtrs using a stick. I can stand without support, can walk without support. I don't want to go for a surgery. My question is- Can it be healed naturally? If not then, instead of going for a surgery can I use knee brace as a solution for walking?

Recently had an MRI on my left and right knee. This was the diagnosis. What does these results mean in laymen terms: MRI R knee : Impression: 1. Large 10 mm grade 3 cartilage defect of the median patellar ridge with adjacent delamination type cartilage injury. 2. Slight lateral patellar tilt. MRI L knee : Impression: 1. Tiny grade 2 cartilage defect of the weightbearing medial femoral condyle. 2. Slight lateral patellar tilt.
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy3 жыл бұрын
Hi A LaSelle, Thanks for sharing. Hopefully whoever ordered the MRI for you can better explain what they feel the treatment options are for you. There is only so much weight we put in MRI findings as they are usually used to determine if a surgery is warranted, and have a high false positive and false negative rate. However, we do treat patients with cartilage tears. In our center, we help patients who want to avoid surgery, and we get more information by moving the joint under ultrasound and through physical examination, and work on a plan to help them attain their functional goals and restore joint stability. We talk more about that in these videos: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rWKXpqB5gNyEjc0 kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6vIk32AnMZngdk We wish you all the best in resolving your knee pain.

I have a complete acl tear. Can stem cell therapy be an alternative or is surgery required?
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy3 жыл бұрын
Hi Austin Celestine, Prolotherapy cannot attach two completely severed ends together. When there is still some tissue attached, it may be an option. However, Prolotherapy is often used in cases after ACL reconstruction because the force required to tear a ligament means that surrounding ligaments also become overstretched. So, a practice like ours sees patients after their surgery to help strengthen the other supportive structures as well as the ACL attachments if a person is still having pain and instability after being cleared by their surgeon. Wish you all the best with your knee recovery. If you feel that you would like our team to review your case and possibly help you here, you are always welcome to reach out to us directly. Take care.

Thanks I have watched a lot of your videos I got a question about vagus nerve compression that can give symptoms from the head down to digestion. Is it possible that vagus nerve compression can be caused somewhere else in the body such as along the thoracic spine instead, or from a hiatus hernia? Or would this lead to different symptoms without the neurological/head symptoms such as photophobia etc..?
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy4 жыл бұрын
Hi Stefan 99, Thanks for the question. Hope you've found the videos helpful so far. Whatever the symptom is, you have probably heard us say in other videos to "follow the neurology." So we would do our best to take into consideration a person's symptoms and history and do the appropriate testing to discover what is happening with the nerves whether in the neck or further down.

Can partial acl tear treat with prp?If can,how many prp shot will inject tear area?
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy3 жыл бұрын
Hi Taming Sari, We use PRP along with dextrose Prolotherapy in our cases, because just a shot of PRP is not addressing the area in a comprehensive way. If you see our treatment example videos or read more about comprehensive Prolotherapy on our site, we explain more about treating the joint comprehensively vs. just one shot of PRP or stem cells. Any force strong enough to tear a ligament will usually do at least some damage to the other ligaments that stabilize the joint and these can be identified during physical exam and stressing the joint under ultrasound which mimics more of the real-life forces on a joint vs. an MRI when a person is laying flat with no force on the joint. In our office, most patients need around 4-6 treatments, each treatment may consist of 20-30 injections. Take care.

Hi yo you, Sorry to hear you are in a really tough spot right now. We know knee surgery tends to be in the tens of thousands, and the prices vary greatly depending on where the surgery is performed. Our non-surgical Prolotherapy treatments tend to be considerably less, in the hundreds to a few thousand, depending on the area of the body being treated and the solutions used. Our prices are always posted on our website as we are outside of all insurance networks and like to have transparency in the treatment prices so people know what to expect. Our team always walks through this with patients as well once we know more about the person's specific medical case and know what would be recommended. If you feel that you'd like our help on your case now or in the future, please reach out to us directly. @SuyashPandeyShubh7 ай бұрын
@@unknown8946 meniscus is a cushion in the joint meant for smooth bending of knees and acts as a shock absorber. Three things I can advice you to do: 1) After you feel your knee pain is gone, start working on gaining full mobility of knee. Sit on a chair (towards the end) and strech your leg outwards straight and pull your foot inwards so that you feel the strech in your joint. Slowly repeat the process for a 10-15 times and gently put down your knee (you can watch youtube for knee streching exercises) 2) Don't get involved into running and sports activity even if you feel you are completely fine. Avoid squatting for some months post injury. 3) Take equal quantities cudappah almond, white sesame seeds and wallnut, mix them in a jar and make a fine powder. Consume 1 tsp daily with a cup of milk(twice a day). This was recommended to me by my physio. This will immensely help you provide the necessary fluids in your joint. Take care of your joint, even if the doctors say you would be fine in two months dont fall into that trap. Few docs said the same to me and I returned to sports and again and again ruptured my knee. After you are okay, for strengthening your knee you can simply try standing and balancing on just on your injured leg with the other bent up from ground (foot of which should be resting on the inner side of your injured knee) for a few seconds.
