It's cool that the roman empire and all of the other civilizations that used coins had the right idea when it comes to enjoyment of your currency.

Not sure if they have changed some rules from the original version. Not a big deal, but the starting player should be the player closest to A, in which Tom should have gone first. Also in the original rules, you are only allowed to turn in unplayable tiles in for new ones, if all 6 tiles are unplayable.
@saykhiaАй бұрын
The 2023 rulebook made it pretty clear: player closest to 1A (not just row A) starts first. And all unplayable tiles can be turned in at the end of your turn, no need to wait until all six are unplayable. So looks like there are some changes from the original.

I've played the game since 1975 and still have my original Avalon Hill version. This game is great but more than 75% of the strategic play is having to keep track of who is the majority and minority shareholders in each chain. Having open info of shares takes all the tension and strategy out of the game. It just becomes primarily a matter of whether to add a tile to a given chain or choosing when to play a tile that can merge chains (if you get one). I know I'd never play the game with open info.

came down here to post exactly this. Love it when you don't realize you've tied, or someone doesn't realize they have tied for 2nd on a merger. Adds all the tension and surprises.

Do older versions of the game have that ruleset of having to keep track of who is majority and minority? Did they just change that for this edition?
@JohnClem56Ай бұрын
@@stephenwyda2568 Yes, all shares and money is secret info. I doubt they changed it in the new version. I think it was just the way they chose to play it. A big part of the tension of play is whether or not you're entirely certain if you merge chains are you in fact getting either the majority of minority bonus.

I'm disappointed at the lack of roundtable after-game discussion. I think it was a missed opportunity.
