Ketogenic diets result in sustained elevations of ketones by an order of magnitude. When maintained for several consecutive weeks, the metabolic state of ‘nutritional ketosis’ manifests in several positive adaptations (i.e., ‘keto-adaptation’). Keto-adaptation is associated with profound benefits in individuals with pre- and type-2 diabetes, and there is emerging evidence it may benefit endurance athletes. This presentation will explore the construct of keto-adaptation as a therapeutic and performance-enhancing strategy.

Keto is a source of Good health, energy , mental focus and elevated mood .It requires adherance , knowledge and continuity just to create ketones and achieve metabolic health through Fat Adaption . The word " Diet " does not do it justice and , actually , is a misnomer. The Professionals who educate us about its usefulness are invaluable and , surely , prevent innumerable metabolic illnesses / Human Suffering , and Tax expenditure on medical treatments.Thank you.

We love you Dr Volek, go you good thing! I'm afraid your peers lack original thinking and need to grow a set.

Thanks for a great lecture Dr. Volek, from a fellow buckeye! BTW, where were you during my medical school nutrition lectures? We would have been much better off with you giving them...

I'm trying the Yogi diet, next. A lot of variety in pic-a-nic baskets. But seriously, I wonder how much fat I burn just worrying that I'm eating the wrong diet.

When you say 'Diabetes' do you mean Type One Diabetes or Type Two Diabetes? It would be helpful if you could make a clear distinction between these two.

The idiocy of most of these comments, even for KZbin, is appalling. I don't think half of these commenters even watched the video.

This comment is for the person doing the video. In order for us to see this on video, In future videos The camera needs to stay longer on the slides while the man is talking. They flip by so quickly We can't even read everything it's on there. The audience gets the advantage of being able to look at the slides All through the talk. So when you record future videos keep that in mind. Here's a good example of a how it could be done to much improvement.

My stubborn belly fat is so stubborn that I tried the keto diet, saw some results but felt terrible. The Agoge diet on the other hand I saw the same results but felt great.

I think you are referring to processed foods when you talk about carbohydrates.
