Action, Sport & Focus Tracking with the Panasonic Lumix S1R, Skater & BMX Biker Shooting

In the video I show how to setup the Panasonic Lumix S1R for action and sport shootings.
I also provide sample shots from a shooting at the skater park in Barcelona at evening time so I had to deal with available light.
Most shots used an ISO between 5000 and 6400 and shutter speed between 1/1000s and 1/500s.
The Panasonic Lumix S1R mastered the situation very well. Especially autofocus tracking was very strong, I was quite impressed. ISO up to 6400 is also no problem for the Lumix S1R which allows for fast shutter speed - ideal for sport and action shootings.
Pls note that I post the video in 1080p only to make it stream quicker which leads to some compression affects.

Hello , for sport tracking which mode you use Mode A or mode S ??

I have firmware version 1.9 and I can't seem to find that AF mode to set tracking anywhere??? I want to be able to set focus tracking on a subject in video mode and follow them while using a stabilizer, like the GH5 does. Is that possible with S1r?

Can the panasonic S1r produce great sports photos? what is the best mode to use with this camera in action shots, thanks

Yes of course it can, if photographers from 15 - 17 years ago could achieve amazing sports shooting with 2 and 6 megapixel DSLR's that had maximum continuous shooting of 4.5fps, then S1R could do it as well.

Have you used this AF with a Sigma 150-600mm Sport lens yet?

No, not yet. Can have a look into it. The newly announced Lumix-S cameras will likely perform very well with the Sigma ... much improved autofocus with phase detection.
