CGI can do a lot, and can accomplish things you can't do any other way. That said, I will always love practical effects (especially good puppetry) more. It has a particular magic that I'm not convinced can be replicated any other way.

These puppets never cease to amaze me. They're a pretty common sight at RenFairs but this one is astounding. Also reminds me of another puppet that Adam would love its simplicity. It was a gopher (I think) effectively just a sock puppet but inside it had a slinky and all the life like movement and personality the puppeteer was able to imbue with only a tickle or twitch of his fingers on the outside was magic.

I see so much potential for fun. Would love to just wander around my town carrying one like this & messing with people. Second thing I'd do(after getting puppetry/persona dialed in), is hit some magic supply for a few smoke/flame gimmicks and incorporate those. Number one idea: give it face masks- made of flash paper! It's a dragon. It don't need no stinking mask!!
