A hand-held bow can send an arrow deep enough, even in such a shield, when 1-the bow's draw weight is high 2- when the arrow is heavy 3- when the bow-arrow set-up is well-tuned 4- when the arrow is tipped with a bodkin (or a broadhead?). Entertaining test. Thanks for the video.

@@AmateurContendr Looked like he used a 40-50lb target bow & bullet or field points, so never the power or points suitable for penetrating armour or that sheild. For combat you'd want something modern 70lb+ or a composite or longobow 90-150lb with broadheads or bodkins. That should match or even exceed the results the crossbow gave here. The blow gun darts concentrate all the force onto a very tiny point, but I was still surprised it penetrated at all.

A "regular" bow would be just as powerful as the crossbow if you had one that can put enough weight behind a broad-head/hunting tip arrow. The power of such bows vary greatly, and you only used field points... they're for small game at best (rabbits, etc).

My only complaint is that with everything but the last crossbow, you only used what looked like target tips, which are kind of designed to not overly penetrate. Given the extreme change in the results with the different tips for the crossbow, I'd have been interested in how the regular bow, and even the sling-bolt would have done with hunting tips instead of target tips.

well, to be fair, it is a riot shield, it only handle rioters, they mostly have to handle like throwing object like bricks or molotovs and some baseballs or small hand axe, it weren't suppose to handle conventional weapons or any fire arms, i was surprise it could actually stop a bow. if you really want protection, then look no further than special squad shield, it is to handle firearms.

@Dubu Daniel shield would survive and suffer quiet a bent/dent, but your arms would break if not killed you when the weight crush you. So yes, it can technically block it, whether you survive or not, is not a concern for the shield.

I would love to have the shield so then mabye I could see how much damage I could do to it my self and I would love to take it paintball so I can use a real shield in combat I've liked I subbed a while ago ( a good few vids ago) and I've shared and I just want to say your awesome for doing tests like this its really cool to see how much the shields can take thank you

Well it's a "Riot" shield not a combat shield, so I wouldn't expect anything less than a combat weapon to pierce it.

That actually blew my mind a bit. I didn't know you could use a sling shot to fire an arrow like that. I doubt it's half as strong as an bow but still cool.
